It looked like the AC adapter plug in that it had the yellow tip, but i didn't want to buy it becuase I wasn't sure. So will this plug do the job, or do I have to special order the part from Sony, becuase it seems that there is no part no. 270-1575 at RS. Thanks in advance! Paul [cut] Yes this plug will do just fine. Use one on my D7. Just a note: When using this plug for Steath or TS taping, i would strongly suggest making an epoxy right angle plug out of it. Fortunately, i found a solder type right angle plug (pretty large exterior, but small inside)(try the big wharehouse type electronic stores, they usually have a ton odd shit) It opens up to a loose connector and *snaps* shut around the neck of the pin. So.... taking the coax DC plug and unscrewing the black plastic protector, tossing it and using the DC pin in the (now empty) right angle body. Used a release agent, filled the R/A body with epoxy, (uh....best to connect everything before the epoxy! ) close up the R/A body, wait, Open it up and presto a very cool looking R/A DC plug. Now go out and tape for 20hours! --D

Date: Tue, 17 Mar 1998 02:56:27 -0800 Recently, I bought a Sony TCD-D100 portable DAT with a 7-pin digital out. My longterm goal is to take my recordings from DAT to CD audio format. I have an SGI Indigo2 computer with an audio board that has a, "Serial digital input (supports AES and S/PDIF encoding)," according to the manual. The digital in jack on the SGI is a mini plug interface (yes, it is digital--not analog) that is 3.5mm Is there an adapter/connector that connects the 7-pin out on the D100 to the mini-plug interface (3.5mm). thanks, -Chris

I'd fully agree with Jesse here. I did have this happen once on my D5, and it was thoughfully explained to me (by someone on this list) that it was more than likely due to the possibility that they shell/casing of the specific DAT was "off" just a bit. I'd imagine that the dimensions are quite strict... Maybe this was a salesperson at the DAT Store who doesn't deal with us DAT-Heads? peace, ecg.

This "switch" is really a small plastic-made slide, integral with the bottom cover of the D8, that transmits the motion of your finger to the actual switch on the PCB inside, which is the part that goes "click". The= lack of clicking indicates that the slide is either broken or (more probably) that it slipped for some reason and no longer mates to the switch. In the latter case the fixing only takes unscrewing the cover, mating the slide and the switch inside, and closing back the cover. Needless to say I don't encourage you to do it without the authorization = of the owner. Jean-Luc.

Haynes" <kc7fys@sa2.so-net.or.jp> Subject: Dwarves, Dead Kennedys, PUNK trades ISO Date: Tue, 17 Mar 1998 21:44:42 +0900 Oi, I noticed the "jam bands" category of my DAT list growing, but there's regretfully little PUNK. Please email me if you are interested in trading punk. I have a few interesting titles to offer, and a rather spiffy list of others as well. Hey Ho! Jonathan

Sony has two portable CD players coming out in the next month or two with digital output: E-D705 E-D805 They both have an optical ouptut using a 1/8" round jack. You will need a cable with a 1/8" diameter optical connector on one end and a Toslink cable on the other end, such as the Sony POC-15AB. As far as I can tell, the major difference between the two models is that the E-D805 has an inline remote that your headpnoes plug into.
