Hey everyone,
I have a set of CoreSound Binaurals for sale. They are the battery-box
type without the bass roll-off. They include the windscreens and are in
as new condition. Very low useage (I'd say ~8-10 shows).
First $200 takes them. Postage included.
Peace,
Andrew

I've got a Schoeps CMC-64->??->HHB the Widespread
Panic 3/30/98 in Amsterdam.
Sounds great except somewhere in the dead air
between Raise the Roof and Radio Child the levels
on the left channel drop and stay a few db lower
for the rest of the show. The sound is still great on
the left channel, just less gain.
If anyone has the ability to fix this digitally I'll offer it
up for a tree or for trades, along with the Paris run.

I'm looking for a trade for a couple of metallica shows. No particular

be appreciated. I have only dead and related to trade.

Aha, duelling tapers! I *also* recorded Swervedriver @ Slim's in SF.
Now is your chance to compare my modded MarcSounds with those SS mics!
I don't know where Marc was, but I have recorded many a show at Slim's,
and was standing right at the sweet spot for the PA. I'll be getting
Curve there next Wednesday night. Here's hoping they start earlier than
Swervedriver (11:30p). . .

Again, me too as many of you know from a previous posting. Balcony
right in front of the PA. If anyone has a line on an FM of the Frisell
set, please let me know.

Clint,
As long as we are talking in the analog world, Niles amkes a unit called
"TSB-3." They bill it as a "Tape Recorder Switching System." It allows
you to run 3 decks from 1 set of tuner connections. You could even dub
from 1 > 2 and from tuner > 3 at the same time...or from 1 > both 2 & 3 at
the same time. If interested I can email their 2 page spec sheet. Expect
to pay $80 to $90 for one.

Not necessarily the Sony portables.....rather *consumer* products.

>I wanna say Klay Anderson, Len Moskowitz and others have these.

Well.......if *padding* a professional line level output (+4dB)
to a consumer line level (-10)..........the math evens out to
about 14dB. If the recorder had a -20dB pad for the LINE
input section........you'd be set!
>Once you satisfy this criteria, you need an attenuator in case the SBD runs hot
The boards run beautifully as a matter of fact.
It's the consumer product that just cannot cut the mustard.
I know that Shure Bros. make/made an XLR attenuator with
variable settings.....I believe in 2dB increments...quite handy.
Bottom line:
You have to ask the sound tech what level his SBD output is.
Usually line (+4).....maybe he has a TAPE out which is -10dB
maybe it is a MIC out equalling -50/60dB. Just ask.

That seems perfectly reasonable to me; given current prices, even 3
blank CDRs would be acceptable. (The idea is you can't trade for
stuff with a higher cash value than the media you're sending.)

As long as you warn the person you're trading with, and agree upfront
what happens if there's a bad tape, there's no problem. (If the
person you're trading with takes the risk, then maybe lowering the
number of CDRs is fair.)

Some people asked me for more details about my "positive" CDRW
experience.
I used Jeff Arnold's (Goldenhawk) DAO software vers. 3.3F. I've
generally had very good luck with this software (except-- see below).
The portable Panasonic CD player which played the rewritable disc was
a SL-S320, one year old. It did play the disc all the way to the
end. It had some trouble "back scanning" - but it was able to do
that with a little work.
My only problem with the Yamaha CDR400tx and DAO3.3F (and I'm not
sure which unit is responsible): when trying to read individual
tracks of certain CDR discs (which were recorded with the Pioneer Pro
CD recorder), I get the message "Can't find last readable sector."
I've had this problem since the beginning of my use of DAO.
There are two ways around the problem: first, if you try several
times, sometimes the error will "dissapear" by itself.
But if not, just go into the "Contents" feature, and write down the
starting and ending sector numbers of the track. (The ending sector
# is one less than the start of the next track).
Then use the DAO "copy sectors" feature -- type in the sectror
numbers manually -- and it works every time! (I'm not sure why the
program can't this this itself, but...)

Not quite; you see, the +4dB and -10dB aren't relative to the same 0dB
(but they aren't all that different). I don't remember the exact
difference between them.

Yes, but sometimes that means hot (i.e. the output peaks above +4dB).

I was wondering if anyone out there would like to buy the Sony
digital(7pin) to coaxial connecting cord? It's meant for the
TCD-D3,7,&8 dat machines. I belive that I got mine for around $80.00,
but I saw at Terrapin that they sell theirs for $75.00. I'll sell it
for 70.00 or Best Offer. I only used it twice. Once to try it out and
another time to record one show. It's virtually unused.
Another thing that I am wanting to sell is a mic. Is the
Shure-prolouge mic. It's beginner friendly and alright to start things
off with, if you have no money and would like to start taping things.
This is what I started out with. It's no Schoeps, but it takes care of
the job. I'm asking $65.00 for it or best offer.
Another thing that I want to sell is a Mascot MT-1 Matching Transformer
600<-->20k. I have two of these things and really don't know what to do
with them. I don't even remember how much I payed for them...? I
assume that 25.00? each is good? I really don't remember. If that
seems to high or too low, just let me know. The best offer is fine with
me.
I had upgraded my stuff a while ago and these things are just sitting
around. If anyone is wanting these things, please drop me an E.
Thank-you. PS. all these things include Shipping and handling.

Subject: Any Suggestions Anyone???
Date: Sat, 4 Apr 1998 08:35:44 EST
Hello, Group.
I wanted to see if I could get some suggestions/input from all of you
regarding my Sony ES75 dat deck. Basically, I bought it used, it's still
under warranty, but I wasn't given the paperwork (I bought it at a reputable
store here in town). It worked fairly fine at first, but tapes recorded at
44.1 khz caused problems, some tapes like TDK wouldn't play, a lot of tapes
played fine, and clones were riddled with diginoise.
Since I don't have the paperwork for the warranty, it's a problem.
I took it to a local repair place who wasn't able to figure out what the
problem was. In turn, they took it to the Sony Service Center in town who had
it for nearly a month (they typically repair and get dat decks back to you in
1 1/2-2 weeks), and couldn't figure out the problem.
The store proceeded to tell me that they're sending it to Sony Dat Specialists
in Chicago, and as of Tuesday, it'll be two weeks since that happened, and
they said it should be two weeks there. I was pretty upset, and a bit
concerned as to why neither place so far can figure out what's wrong with it.
They assured me it shouldn't be any more than the $125-140 flat fee
figure...but I asked what they'll do if they can't fix it..and I was told not
to worry.
Anyone here in the group have any idea as to the problem with this deck or a
course of action I should persue if they can't fix it?
Thanks so much.
All The Best,
Tim
