This is the Audio Alchemy DTI 1.0 box with upgraded AA power supply.
It was designed to be a 'jitter box' which will make your digital signal
more stable, etc.
I had it modified by Dan in Ohio. It now sets all digital signals
outgoing to 00, this allows unlimited copies.
Do NOT be confused with standard, un-modified/stock DTI 1.0 box's
They do NOT set scms=0. But this one does.
Also special to the box during the modification is a 2nd digital ouput.
So, you can feed 2 dat decks at one time.
(1 dat deck/playback input > scms box > 2 dat decks/recoding)
$250 shipping included
or will trade for $250 of SEALED Maxell HS labeled DAT tapes.
thanks

Just started getting into moe. and I see that they have played Zappa's
"San Ber'dino" a number of times. I'd love to get an HQ copy of one (or

a GREAT soundfield st250 copy from Toad's Place the other night - thanks
to Aaron at Masterpiece A/V - http://www.masterpieceav.com), plus many
other bands. My list is at the URL below. Please help me out. Thanks!

Subject: Portable DAT Recorder Recommendation?
Date: Sun, 7 Feb 1999 15:24:06 -0700 (MST)
Hello,
I'm planning to buy a DAT recorder to record the sounds of the desert birds
and animals where I live (near Tucson, AZ). I currently have a Sony WM-D6C
analog cassette recorder and a Sony ECM-909 microphone, and the recordings
I've been making are kind of OK, but there's too much tape hiss for my
liking. So I'm wondering whether a Sony TCD-D100 would me a good machine to
upgrade to. I need something very portable, so that I can take it out hiking
with me. I'm also wondering whether the ECM-909 microphone is really good
enough. Can anyone offer any thoughts on the Sony TCD-D100, or alternative
portable DAT recorders.
Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Everyone
Anybody been taping Johnny Winter during his latest east coast tour? The
ol' boy isn't looking too well these days but he still plays and sings
fantastic. I captured his show here in Virginia on Saturday and would love to
do a little trading for any of his stuff.

Subject: Sample rate to use when resampling expected!
Date: Sun, 7 Feb 1999 20:39:00 EST
For many years, I've made mix tapes on cassettes using a mike mixer to get
nice fades and mixes of songs (analog, of course). Using Dolby S, it sounds
great and is somewhat of a challenge when compared to simply taping a song,
stopping the recorder and going to the next.
With my couple of DAT decks and CD players, I want to go to the next step of
mixing a direct copy from tape out of what I'm mixing, onto a DAT, which will
eventually be put onto CDR. (I've got separate feeds from the mixer, so the
analog out to the cassette deck also goes to the DAT; I wouldn't be making the
dub from the tape out of the cassette, so the signal would be a bit cleaner).
My question is this: as I have a Philips CDR 870, which supposedly will
resample even a 44.1 source, would I be better off in recording the signal to
the DAT at 48 or at 44.1? I can't tell whether the resampling of 44.1 (as to
which I certainly can't hear a difference when compared to the source) would
be less desirable than from a 48 source. Since resampling of some type will
apparently take place, should I figure that it's better to go with 48? Thanks
for any help!

Andi--
Thanks for your thoughtfull and helpfull comments earlier.
You asked:
>Finally, does anyone use the American Digital 7pin->COAX? They have a Dig-in
>for $55 or a full duplex (actually, two seperate COAX's) for $66. Any
>feedback on build quality, quality of the transfer etc?
Last I bought one, Am-Dig's cables were made by Core, and they were about
as good as the ones without the right-angle plug (in fact, they were
identical). I really recommend the ones with the right angle, because
sooner or later, a mistake will be made, and the pins will be bent out of
shape. The more they get bent out of shape, the harder it will be to get
them bent back in shape. The right-angle 7-pin connection is much harder to
get bent out of shape, or to loose its connection while a dub is being
made, in my experience. I'd personally buy them from Core, unless
American-Digital now offers a right-angled plug cable. (If they do, might
as well--you can buy tapes in the same shipment! :)
Peace,
<> David
