Hi
I'm really happy w/ my Zeifro In box. I got a few questions about it
that would be cool if anyone could answer.
1. How long do you got when the low battery light comes on? Is this a
change it pretty soon or this battery will go dead in like 10seconds
indicator?
2. Can you run xlrs from a sbd into it? Is there any problems w/ doing
this?
thanks

I believe that means the sound is already starting to degrade.

The signal from a sbd is probably way too hot for it, so you'll want
to attenuate it to mic levels first.

My 90 meter blankety blank problems started with KAO's in my old D7. it will
always happen when I use a 90 meter KAO but will never happen when I use 90
meter maxells. I Try to never use 90's at all any more but I do use Maxells
exclusively. They are the only DDS Tape that I have not run into problems
with. KAO would have been my second choice, never FUJI, and have had quite
a few problems with SONY DG's 60's and 90's.
I think that the answer is to find a Brand that your decks like and stick
with it. Every time I decide to try something new, I get screwed. Hell,
There are still some out there who refuse to use DDS at all. I never had a
problem with HHB DATS :).

These are indeed fine ear protection (though I always feel a bit like
Frankenstein when wearing them - they are seated in the ear with small
plastic posts which protrude slightly). They are also less comfortable
than foam squishees. On the "bright" side, they are more linear in their
frequency response.

I don't know of any software that will allow you to set a new volume level
while recording digitally (digital transfer from DAT/MD/CD to PC). This is
something that would be done with software, not hardware. There might well
be something out there that does.
But the real question is, aside from saving time, why would you want to?
You can adjust the volume better after the file is already on the
computer--you can know exactly how much volume increase/decrease you need
(if you need any at all), whereas it's just guesswork if you do it while
recording to the PC.

>I need some mics to record a few concerts here this summer and because I
don't have that much money I thought about the Low Cost Binaurals by Core
Sound. I have a few questions about these...
>What exactly does that flat response battery box do with the audio signal?
The battery box supplies power to the mics via a 9-volt battery. This is
necessary for them to operate. (The mics without the battery box depend on
the deck to supply power, and not all decks do. Plus, the mics with the
battery box are quieter.) The battery box itself has nothing to do with the
flat audio signal; the mics themselves do. (Actually, the "bass roll-off"
battery box lessens the bass, for those situations where the bass is
overwhelming.)
>Is the "flat response" battery box for the Low Cost model the same as the
"fixed-response" box for the standard model?
I don't know. However, they both do essentially the same thing--providing
power to the mics with little distortion (i.e. without reducing the bass).

Just wondering what people are using to mount the small Schoeps mics
(CCM-type or the Colette capsules w/ active cables). I'd like to be
able to run X-Y and ORTF type configs (at least). Interested in both
stand-mounted and stealth setups. For stand mounted, a setup that
allows clamping to another stand, as well as on top, would be ideal.

Eugene in #958:
<<...... Although the output isn't balanced, if you use the XLR
connector as though it were (i.e. outputting the difference between left and
right) you end up with a figure 8 mic.........>>
Hmmm....connecting identical cardioid patterns (or any unipolar pattern for
that matter) back to back and out of phase should certainly generate a
figure 8, but are the capsules inside this stereo mic really 180 deg. back
to back? I've never used this mic, let alone snooped under the grille, but
if it has an orthodox X-Y capsule orientation of say 120 deg. then the
output is going to be more of a letter "B" than a figure "8" <g>. If it
indeed has back to back capsules, as its photo would suggest, then the mic
used normally might be a bit limited for stereo audio and perhaps more
useful for Electronic News Gathering.

What's the Etc?
This has the 13pin DIN connector, but I don't know
