Also, looking for some Counting Crows (from August and Everything

Hey,
I caught the last part of Austin City Limits on PBS the another night
and I was blown away by Hornsby and his band. So now I need to get some
shows and I would prefer to get shows from his current tour or the one
before. I only have one Hornsby show to trade from '93 but I have dead,
phish and others to trade. If anyone can help me out e-mail me and I'll
send you my list.

any pros/cons of certain brands? Thanks for the bandwith.

Does anyone have a remedy for an "ERROR 3" message on the display of a DA-30

I have moe. and String Cheese Incident DATS that work on other decks, but
are giving me an "Error 3" message on this one. The machine will not allow
any playback, rew, ff, or skip searches.
Thanks in advance.

Hello again.
Are there any Rainbow DAT-Heads out there amongst us.
Things are gearing up for the National Gathering in PA this year
and I would love to make contact with other DAT-Heads who will
be there besides myself.
It would be nice for us to coordinate on charging, mics, batteries etc.
I will have a 200ah battery and 150W of solar panel for other DAT-Heads to use.
Looks like we may have some funding to do a full-production FREE CD for next
year.. kinda in the vain of the Rainbow Spirit video. It would be nice
to have as many contributors as possible.
Also the CD I did of Campfire music I did from last years National in AZ
is basically done. I intend to pass out as many free CDRs of this as I can
burn with my trusty CDR. If anyone is interested in helping me copy more
CDRs to pass out (who will be in PA of course) please e-mail me.

When the D7, or D8 get digital input, they don't synch their D/A
converters to the input's clock, resulting in clicks on the analog
output. This does not affect the tape in any way; when you later play
that tape (on that or another deck), the clicks won't be there.

I am trying to learn more on the conversion process. What makes some
coverters better than others? For example, what makes the DA-P1's or
HHb's A/D better than the D7/8? Hmm, perhaps someone thinks it is the
other way around??? What is it about the external converters, e.g.
ADC-20 or A/D-1000. that make them superior to internal?
What deck(s) on the market have the best converters?
Thank you,
Eric

w/ Mark Turner on tenor, Aaron Fletcher on alto, Eric Harland on drums,
Edward Simon on piano, and David Pulpus on bass). CoreSound heb->m1.
outdoors appr. 35 ft from stage. 90 min set. Pretty good stealth recording,
tenor & piano are a bit weak, and A. bass lack definition (gets better as
soundman gets it together), but good clarity on trumpet, alto & cymbals.
Also recorded Roomful of Blues, Ray Vega Latin Jazz 4tet, and Kevin
Mahogany, but Terrance Blanchard was the smoker. I haven't heard a jazz set
this good in a long time. Aaron Fletcher (alto) is only 19 years old and
sounds like a cross between an Paul Desmond and Cannonball Adderly. A really
lyrical improviser. Each member is a monster. Can't say enough good things
about 'em. See them if they come your way.
Looking for good jazz (or interesting other) for trade. I'll be out of town
until Monday PM (going to Asheville, NC to see Hornsby).

hey y'all
Seth asked me what was up with the Teddy GoodBear Trees:
i responded like this:
open letter to Seth B.
to Seth:
PLEASE READ:
i reiterate what i sent to you previously...others seem to be fine with the
arrangement...
to qoute my message directly:...as was sent to you last week...
hey guys,
i was orig to be a DAT Trunk on this tree, but had to place myself in CDR
land instead...
therefore, i have the round 1 on DAT, but my D>CDR capabilities are giving
me fits right now...(long story)...
Teddy is going out of town in a few days, so there was no time to get
another batch of seeds spun in time...
sooo...the big question...
would y'all be willing to recieve round 1 on DAT instead?...of course,
converting to CDR for your children...
if for some reason this won't work for any of you, that's fine, i will have
to get these converted, and then i will simply pick something else from you
and trade the CDRs as normal...
if this will work for you all...i will get these sent off to each of you by
this weekend (give you some extra time to do your conversions)...Teddy has
listed all the CDR timings on the web pages, and this should be an easy
conversion...(except for me!)...
so sorry for the inconvenience...things will be cleared up by round 2, i
promise...;-)/
thanks in advance...
OF COURSE I HEARD NOTHING FROM SETH ON THIS ONE...
===========================================================
of equal importance, Seth, is why are you jacking around your kids on OUR
01's Tour Tree '98?...
Al Zeffer and i have MANY complaints about you having 7 shows in your
possesion, and not releasing them to the masses...
what gives, bro?...
and another pertinent deal...
why did you OFFER assistance with the pending 12/31 tree when you were not
ready or willing to come forth with any goods?...a simple note saying "not
interested" would have been fine...instead, we heard NOTHING!...
enuf of this HOLIER THAN THOU CRAP!...
if you don't have something constructive to offer...please keep the
condesending comments to yourself, eh, bro?...
just a little FYI:
you're "quoting" of every damn comment on DAT-Heads is quite
redundent...give someone else a chance, eh? ...or do you figure no-one else
would be able to answer with your clarity, and forethought?...
ever get out of your apartment and tape/see a damn show?... think about
it...it's great fun...just ask anyone on the list...oh, yeah, you don't need
to ask any questrions......that's right, you're the answer man...i forgot...

Subject: FS: Lunatec V2 w/ Eco-Charge battery and charger
Date: Fri, 21 May 1999 01:39:25 -0400
Hey all->
I am parting with my Lunatec V2 preamp and an Eco-Charge battery system to
power it. Reason for selling: upgrading to Apogee AD1000:)
Lunatec V2 new: $1495
Eco-Charge Sigma Plus system: ~$179. Includes BP-50 battery with y-cable
to power the Pre-Amp and a Sony D8/7 and Smart Charger. Record time using
both outs=8hrs. You can use the battery by itself on the Lunatec not
powering a Sony portable for ~12hrs.
The Lunatec has been great and sounds great. It hurts me to part with it,
but IMHO the Neumann KM140>Lunatec V2> Apogee AD1000 rig sounds better than
that without the V2, but just not $1500 better. I have taped probably
about a dozen shows with it and it is in mint condition with original
paperwork, Serial#V045. Purchased new in September '98 from Sonic Sense
and extremely babied.
Asking $1300obo for package. I think it's a fair price for the package, so
don't make a ridiculous offer or it will be deleted wihtout hesitation. If
you have questions about my credibility or whatever, I think there may be a
few people here willing to back me up. Please reply via private e-mail to
this address and thank you for your support.
May the Force be with you,
Kevin

I can if I have to, but it would be a major hassle. (I expect the
quality would be OK, but I can't guarantee it.)

That would be better for me.

Just which tree is that?

Which shows? The only Other Ones tree I know of (that I'm on), I've
sent 11 shows to each of my children as of last month.
> why did you OFFER assistance with the pending 12/31 tree when you were not
> ready or willing to come forth with any goods?
I'm not _ready_ to, because I haven't made duplicate copies yet. I'll
be able to; tell me specifically which of the tapes you want, and I
should be able to get them out next week. (In fact, you could even
get them in trade for this tree; see how easy it is sometimes?)
> a simple note saying "not

So, ping me again. I don't have time to keep up with everything, and
stuff gets lost in my inbox.

I quote the stuff I'm responding to in order to keep some context. If
people think I'm posting too much I'll cut down.

Field Question. Your stealth out in the sacred sweet spot. The Pyramid, You
get levels after hitting pause, then record. Hit pause again and check
levels, then put on hold. At the end of the show I rewound to the beginning.
When I got home hit eject and come to find out the tape is pulled out of the
case. I replaced the tape back in the cartridge and the played the tape with
no recording in sight at all. So I guess the Question is: Is this tape shot
now, can the music ever be recovered. What can I do to prevent this mistake
again?Thanks Bill

For CD booklets I have to admit that I use Micro$oft Publisher. I
created a 12 page booklet with ease. Similarly for CD labels I use
Publisher. For back sheets I use EasyCD which has basic functionality.
