Most likely, you need to go Line in, possibly with further attenuation
of the signal before it reaches your deck. Use the first of Line in,
mic in -20dB, mic in 0dB that gets you a high enough signal. (If you
have to the level below around 3 or 4 on Line in, you need further
attenuation.)

Over 2 years ago that was the case (it was a drag to have to sneak stuff in to
tape a group that was pro taping such as rusted root 11-20-96). However in the
past 2+ years I can't remember a single show where open audience taping wasn't
allowed if the band was cool with it (somewhere the management changed for the
better). The Ventura theater has about as mellow a taping scene as it gets(it
used to be the exact opposite, no taping period no matter what). Greg Allman
allows audience taping so the show this Thurs should not be a problem. Thank

I've used COOL EDIT PRO 1.1 with good results on slightly clip audio.
You can also try reconverting your digital audio to analog and back to digital.
But with heavy clipping, it won't work.

For SBD patching, go LINE IN(when going line in, the mic attenuation settings do
not apply), not mic in. To play it safe have an inline attenuator handy. In
your case, this is simply a stereo mini cable with a jack on one side and a plug
on the other(places such as Core Sound sell them). If you find that the output
of the SBD is too "hot"("hotness" is just a measure of the output voltages the
SBD is sending - you can tell how hot the output of the SBD is by where you must
set your record level knob to see good levels....personally if I was 4 or less,
I'd put in the inline attenuator then turn up the record level knob to get good
levels....Pete

I know it's probably a lost cause to ask this, but i'm curious if anyone
here has any Stabbing Westward or Orbital DAT's? Specifically, i'm looking
for SW '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, and '99 shows and the other bands they
played with for any of those gigs (God Lives Underwater, Placebo, Depeche
Mode (94 or 98), Sponge, but NO Sex Pistols or KISS shows (i would like the
SW opening sets however.)) As for Orbital, i'm searching for ANY shows on
DAT - i've just been able to find a few shows on CDR... Have much to trade
on CDR and some on DAT including local Minneapolis masters.... Sorry to
clog the bandwith!

need an attenuator cable.

As far as I'm concerned, if all you want is a clean, quiet version of the
show, stick with soundboards.
I prefer audience tapes since I can actually feel like I'm there. the
sound isn't nearly as good and there's always someone clapping, talking,
screaming, bitching or whatever... but that's why it's called a "live
audience recording".
It's too bad you don't understand, Seth. Maybe if you tried fighting your
way to the front, threw your arms around some strangers and sang your lungs
out, you'd understand.
But, then again, maybe not.

...and those that get drunk and insist on shouting 'Born In The USA!' right
through the entire 3 hours (including a stunning accoustic rendition of
Meeting...), despite being asked repeatedly by those around them to cut it
out, deserve a damn good kicking. Scream and shout between songs if you must,
but let others listen to the music they've paid good money to hear.
(Sorry, I realise this doesn't really apply to most folks on this list, but
I just had to get that off my chest after ending up with a completely
unlistenable tape from 21/5. Grrr.)

When I try to fastforward on my D8 on a recorded DAT, it says
Blank and will not fastforward. At first this was intermittent but now
it happens ALL of the time. Very annoying if I want to listen to the
10th song on a tape or something.
Looks the same as when you are unpacking a new tape. You hit
Fastforward. It flashes blank, then you hit Fastforward again and it
fastforwards. Well THIS works on my deck if it is a new
(unrecorded) tape. But if it is a tape that I have recorded on, I
cannot get it to Fastforward. Just flashes Blank when I hit
fastforward. I have also tried Music Skip (hitting Fastforward once
when it is Playing). No luck. Same problem.
I have cleaned the heads. No luck.
Anyone seen this AND solved it? Does it need a professional
cleaning? Any recommendations on where to get that done? How
much does that generally cost?

No creas que va a ser fácil, es necesario colocar este mensaje en todos los lugares que se te ocurra publicarlo, news, tablones, avisos clasificados, etc. cuando mayor sea la cantidad de veces que lo repitas mejor para ti (y para mí por supuesto) por eso te digo que es un verdadero trabajo, te va llevar varias horas, va requerir de toda tu experiencia, también va a depender de tu constancia para seguir publicando !

"Días atrás, cuando "navegaba" por estas páginas de Noticias, así mismo como Ud. lo esta haciendo ahora, se me apareció un artículo similar a este que decia que uno puede ganar miles de dólares en pocas semanas con una inversion de $6.00!. Enseguida pensé, "Oh no! Otra estafa mas?", Pero como la mayoria de nosotros, la curiosidad pudo mas, y seguí leyendo. Y seguia diciendo que Ud. enviará $1.00 a cada uno de los 6 nombres y direcciones mencionadas en este artículo. Entonces Ud. anota su nombre y dirección al final de la lista reemplazando al #6, y envie o ponga este artículo a por lo menos 200 "newsgroups"(Hay miles de estos en todo el mundo). Ningún truco, eso fue todo. La gran diferencia entre este sistema y otros es que Ud. tiene una lista de 6 en vez de 5... Esto significa que su promedio de ganancia sera aproximadamente 15 veces mayor!!! Después de pensarlo una y otra vez, y consultar con unos amigos primero, decidí probarlo. Pensé que lo único que podria perder eran 6 !

Todo esto realmente valió la inversión de $6.00 y 6 estampillas. Me gastaba más que esto en sorteos y loterias!!
Permítanme explicarles como funciona esto y lo más importante el porqué funciona. también, Ud. asegúrese de imprimir una copia de este artículo AHORA, para poder sacar toda la información a medida que lo necesite. El proceso es muy facil y consiste en 3 pasos sencillos:
PASO No. 1: Obtenga 6 hojas de papel y escriba en cada una de ellas "FAVOR DE INCLUIRME EN SU LISTA DE CORRESPONDENCIA O E-MAIL".
Ahora consiga 6 billetes de US$1.00 dolar e introduzca cada dolar en un sobre con la hoja de manera que el billete no se vea a través del sobre!! Mejor ponerlo encerrado en un papel de color oscuro para prevenir robos de correspondencia. Ahora Ud. deberia tener 6 sobres
sellados y en ellos un papel con la frase mencionada, su nombre y dirección, y un billete de
$1.00 dolar. Lo que Ud. esta haciendo con esto es crear un "servicio" y eso hace que esto sea ABSOLUTAMENTE LEGAL!! También puede mandar el equivalente de US$1 (1 dolar).

No.2> Abra un archivo "notepad" y lleve al cursor arriba de la página en blanco. Presione "edit" y del menu seleccione "paste". Ahora tendrá esta carta en el "notepad" y podrá agregar su nombre y dirección en el lugar #6 siguiendo las instrucciones de mas arriba. No.3> Grave esta carta en su nuevo archivo del notepad como un.txt file. Y cada vez que quiera cambiar algo ya lo puede hacer.
PARA LOS QUE MANEJAN NETSCAPE
No.4> Dentro del programa Netscape, vaya a la "ventana" titulada: Window" y seleccione "netscapeNews". Entonces elija del menu "Options", seleccione "Show all Newsgroups". En segundos una lista de todos los "Newsgroups" de su "server" aparecerá. Haga click en cualquier newsgroup. De este newsgroup haga click debajo de "TO NEWS", el cual deberia estar arriba, en el extremo izquierdo de la página de newsgroups. Esto le llevará a la caja de mensajes.
No.5> Llene este espacio. Este será el título que verán todos cuando recorran por la lista de un grupo en particular.
No.6> Marque el contenido completo del.txt file y copie usando la misma técnica anterior. Regrese al Newsgroup "TO NEWS" y Ud. Esta creando y empastando esta carta dentro de su programa o "posting".
No.7> Presione "send" que está en la parte superior izquierda. Y UD. HA FINALIZADO CON SU PRIMERO!...CONGRATULACIONES!!! .
LOS QUE USAN INTERNET EXPLORER
PASO No. 4: Vaya al Newsgroups y seleccione "Post an Article.
PASO No. 5: Carge el artículo. PASO No. 6: Repita el No.6> mas arriba.
PASO No. 7: Presione el botón "Post".

Todo lo que tiene que hacer es meterse en diferentes "Newsgroups" y empastarlos, cuando ya tenga práctica, solo le tomará unos 30 segundos por cada newsgroup! **RECUERDE, CUANTOS MÁS NEWSGROUPS CONSIGA, MAS RESPUESTAS (Y DINERO) RECIBIRA!! PERO DEBE DE ENTRAR EN POR LO MENOS 200** YA ESTA!!!.... Ud. estará recibiendo dinero de todo e l m u n d o, de lugares que ni conoce y en unos pocos días!. Eventualmente querrá rentar un P.O.Box por la cantidad de sobres que irá recibiendo. I think what you are referring to is DATS, A.K.A AES3id-1995
What this is is a way to run AES digital audio through a video switcher.
It modifies the voltage from around 5V to 1V and adds 30ns of slew to the signal
so that it can be run over a BNC cable and through a video switcher.
Grahm Parsons makes these adapters.. one direction is a Model 21.. I think
the other is Model 11.. but I could have the Part number wrong.

Well I have tried it all, I think.
Gel Cells were too heavy, High End Nic-Cads and Disposable Ds were too expensive.
What I settled on was RC car batteries. They give me 3 hours of record time each, are
light weight, and are fairly cheap. While a bit of a compromise in some ways it was the
best i could come up with.
I cut my DAP-1 cord, put mini-XLRs on it and made an adapter to the RC car battery plug.
Trying several brands I found the best bang-for-the-buck was the new Radio Shack one.
Note not all RSs have this yet. It is 2000Ma 7.2V and gives me about 3 hours record time
with Phantom on. To optimize time I made a plug consisting of a RC plug and 5 ohm 25Watt
resistor to fully discharge the pak b4 charging. I then charge it on my DAP-1 charger.
When running the external battery I keep the internal for swap outs only.
In this way I can unplug the external battery and the deck will keep running
on the internal while I change batteries. I then can hot-plug the external
battery back in.
I also modified my DAP-1 charger by adding a cigarette lighter cord
after the bridge rectifier inside it so that I can power/charge my DAP-1 from 12V.

The Freestylers (dub/scratch/some rap) are playing a live set on the
WHFS Radio Show May 29 in Baltimore, MD
I don't know what time it is being broadcasted at, but if you can tape it
for me, I would be _extremely_ grateful since live freestylers recordings
are pretty much non-existent.
So, that said, I'd love a dat clone of it if you can score it.....
Lots to trade - verve, spiritualized, orb, dj shadow, etc...
