Hi all,
Are there any West Coast tapers that have managed
to record any Ann Magnuson performances this year?
She did several L.A. area shows & was recently on
Live 105 FM in San Francisco, as well. I have many
older recordings of her to trade. List available on
request.
Also anybody recording The Sundays on their
current tour, please get in touch. Plenty of older
DATs on them to trade as well.
Thanks for the bandwith. All the best, Alan

with no problems on them. Some are even (gasp!) the original DIC

Hello,
My friend is beggin me to post this message to grovel for some tapes he wants
badly. The first is his day of birth, 2-26-76, Its a Jerry band show at the
Del Mar Theatre in santa cruz. The other two are The Mother Hips at the Great
American on Dec 19 and 20, 1996.
My list is at http://www.ynn.com/chrispaul for trade.
While I'm at it, I think I'll grovel for another show.... My daughter's date of
birth, 6/14/91.... Ya know, good ole GD
I would greatly appreciate this opportunity to return a favor to a very kind
and generous friend.

You could always try 3 1.2v cells; the high-capacity D-cell NiCad
rechargeables from Radio Shack should provide a reasonable amount of
time. AA Ni-MH hold 1250 mAh, regular D NiCads are 1400 mAh,
high-capacity D's are 4500 mAh (high-capactiy C's are 2300 mAh, if you
prefer that size).
Please try to avoid MIME when posting to dat-heads. Most of your

Date: Mon, 17 Nov 1997 17:24:20 -0800
I'll expand on the Info I sent Romain Kang (Digest#850) recently, since I
now have this sucker in my hand:
Backlit? Um, kinda, no display on the RMT-D100 but there are Luminescent
Stop,Play,Rec,Pause Buttons for operation in the dark (gosh, why would you
want these...) Also, you can control the backlight on the D100 from this unit.
The following operations can be performed by connecting this unit to DAT
recorders D100,D8,D7:
-Remote control tape operations: Rec,Pause,Stop,Play,FF,Rew,Cue, Review.
-Edit start ID's PGM numbers (overdubbing function).
-Volume level (not rec lev).
-backlight control.
-hold (slider, NOT BUTTON).
The Dimensions are approx. 1 15/16x 19/32x 3 1/4inches (w/h/d)
The Weight is 30 g, 1.1 oz.
I'm disappointed with this unit: It needs a small backlit display with
level meters and ability to control Rec levels to be a viable alternative
to just using the unit's key pad at shows. Nice for home maybe...if you
want to entertain your cat for a while...
Hope this is helpful to some,
Kent Hillman

just wanted to add my $.02 about this. Any of you folks waitin for tapes
from Brian, just chill out a little bit. I know that he's not out there to
rip any one off for tapes. He is the busiest man in the DAT taping
community, if you ask me. He's out there on the road with a grueling
schedule, that would send an old man like me to his death bed. in short order.
So cut him some slack and you'll get your tapes and perhaps some others
where he may be the sole taper. Learn some patience.

Thanks for your informative and humours reply. I sort of assumed that was
what it was, but as an engineer myself, I've learned not to go too far on
assumptions. I enjoy your posts on DAT heads and it's great to see someone
actually take things apart and report on how they really work, rather than
wading through a lot of speculation, guessing, and general bullshit that's
seen so often here. I've learned a lot about the DAT world reading
your info, keep it coming.

Hi all,
I will be getting my new R300 this week and need advice on what cable(s)
to buy so that I may record digitally b/w the R300 and my Tascam DA-20.
Do I just need a pair of those "gold tip" coaxial cables that look like
regular old RCA cables? Do I need another pair of cables if I want to
put an analog tape onto DAT? I have the 7-pin to coax for my D-7. What
else do I need?
As I suspect this is a fairly elementary predicament, private e-mail
should suffice. That is, unless y'all think others might be as ignorant
as me and just afraid to speak up, in which case, post the answer.
Thanks again

Hello all,
First off, thanks for the great info on MD vs DAT. I'm still undecided(I
probablywon't buy until December anyway), but I think that I might have
the oppurtunity to tape the G-Love show this Friday at the Roxy in NYC.
Anyhow, I'm not sure yet whether I'll be able to get a DAT or not (all
depends if my friend can get here or not), but I'll probably have access
to a MD recording Walkman. I know this is not the MD list, but I know
that a lot of you guys are heavy into recording shows.
Anyhow, simply put...what will I need to bring to tape the show.
Specifically what kind of cables (1/4 inch patch cables, like a standard
guitar cable) or something different))? And any other pertinent info.
Thanks a lot for the help!!!
(BTW, even though I don't own a DAT player yet, I love all the info that
comes across on the list...almost makes me want to become an electrical
engineer...)
(oh yeah, I hear that G-Love allows board access...what is the whole
procedure for that...eg, when should I arrive and such.
Thanks again!
