Hello,
I will be getting a Tascam DAO-20 next weekend. I have a Sony D7, and I will
need to get a digital cable to connect them. Does anybody know the type of
cable that I'll need? The place I'm getting the Tascam deck from quoted me a
lead that costs 90 pounds, which seems a little excessive, but then I have very
little experience of DAT equipment. Thanks very much.
ps. does anybody on here trade Alice In Chains?!

Hey
I went to check out Soulive last night and the Iron Horse wouldn't let
us
tape! Al Evans was nice enough to fight for us but I guess it is a new
policy. Was this the case last week for the Disco Biscuits? I figure
something must of happened at some point w/ a taper over stepping thier
bounds. Anyway, I'm really pissed cause the Iron Horse is a great venue
and
agreat place to tape. I don't really plan on going back until they allow
taping again. Does anyone here know whats up?
thanks
joe
Well Joe, the Iron Horse has always had a no taping policy and now that
it (and every other music venue in Northampton) is run by a fascist
little dwarf named Eric Suher, you can be sure to run into a hassle when
you go there. The Horse has a contract with every perforemer and band
who plays there that says they (horse) can recors the performance for
their own purposes. This is how they release their "live at the Iron
Horse" cd's. They don't want you to record anything because this might
"infringe" on their ability to make money. ( Especially since Eric owns
every venue in town and can charge whatever he wants for ticket prices
and concessions.) Since Soulive are only a small local band I guess
they don't have a powerful enough pull to fight the management on this
issue yet. The key to taping at the Horse is to go when a
taper-friendly band is playing there (such as Charlie Hunter or Bela
Fleck) and state your case. It helps to make contact with these sort of
bands or their managers befoehand via email and have them send you
something that says you are allowed to tape the performance, or even in
many cases a disclaimer such as this is available on their website to
print out and have with you. maybe next time you could have Eric of
Soullive write something similar for you. Also try to show up for a
show really early so that you can personally talk to a band's manager to
secure your taping privileges. Of course all this doesn't mean that you
will still be allowed to tape since the Horse can be notorious dicks
about this, but these courses of action have worked out may times in the
past for friends of mine.
Lastly if you or anyone would like a tape of aband recorded at the
Iron Horse write to me offlist and we'll try and set up a trade.
Eric

I don't even know anyone who's been _caught_taping_ at a Dylan show. And
basically, that's what they gotta do first.

Date: Sun, 19 Sep 1999 14:05:39 -0800
Hello MY FRIENDS,
Greetings from Alaska!!! I am looking for DAT recordings of Crosby,
Pevar and Raymond from their shows this past summer...
I was at the Odean show while in Clevetown. I recorded it with dead
batteries; hence, no recording... I was also given the email of a person
who recorded it. Three days ago I lost my wallet with his email address in
it... I am looking for anyone who may have recorded any of the CPR shows
from August and September 1999. Specifically, I am also especially looking
for either the 98 or 99 CPR show at the Odean Theatre in Cleveland? I have
many CPR masters to trade. I look forward to hearing from you. Peace, Joe
Ray at: joeray@ptialaska.net
