From: Bryce Hall <bryce@dimensional.com> Subject: re: Gram Parson & The Fallen Angels 3/13/73 Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2000 22:26:18 -0600 the rest of the WLIR broadcast (the encores & conversations) were available on vinyl as a 33 1/3 7inch from Sierra Records in 82. the whole show was just never available together until 94. the show that evening was at the Bijou Theater in Philly. Only an audience recording exists AFAIK. bryce marc2@pipeline.com wrote: Picked up the CD, made from the WLIR broadcast on 3/13/73. (the latest version is the only complete one. Originally out in vinyl in 1982, from a tape of the broadcast, and on CD in 1991 from the WLIR master tape, both edited, the 1994 Rhino release is complete - finally!) Anyway, during one of the encores Emmy Lou mentions that they are driving to Philly for a performance that evening. Does anyone have a tape of that Philly show?

From: "Dan Greenberg" <letitgro@warwick.net> Subject: Bad trader alert? This is even worse...PLEASE READ Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 19:36:08 -0400 Hi, I was taping Furthur at Camden last Saturday 9/16...great position...at the front of the lawn, right up against the rail, with the walkway 4' below me. Before the show, this guy (~22-25 w/ fairly long brown hair) down on the walkway (in a wheelchair) asks me if I'd run his minidisc recorder, since he can't get up on the lawn. I wasn't really into it since one reason I switched to DATs was the lack of 'flips', as opposed to the 45 or 50 min. on a cassette, or even 74 on a minidisc. Besides, I wasn't familiar with the minidisc. I felt bad for the guy, so I told him I'd search out another minidisc taper with the hopes someone else could run two identical machines. It didn't take me long to find one (three rigs to my left), but that taper said he didn't want to have anything patched out of his disc recorder because it would have too much strain on his batteries. However if I/we could find someone else to patch out of, he'd gladly run this other minidisc recorder. The guy to his right (two rigs to the left of me) offered a patch with the understanding that he would not have to run the recorder. So I watched as the guy in the wheelchair hands up his minidisc recorder and perhaps 4 blank discs, a small bag, and a patch cord. Fine. Personally, I felt happy that I'd "made the connection" to help out, and then didn't even think, that is until about it till four hours later. The (smokin'!) show ended and I was taking my time packing up my rig. Most people had already left the venue, when the guy in the wheelchair appears and says "Hey man, you see that guy that has my minidisc?" I look to my left and both, the guy who offered to run the minidisc, as well as the guy he/they patched out of were nowhere to be found. As I looked at my friend who was there at the beginning, we both rolled our eyes at each other, and sighed, as we knew what had just happened. One of them ripped off this guy's (in the wheelchair) minidisc recorder, discs, patch cord, and bag. How physically easy it must have been to take advantage of a guy in a wheelchair who couldn't even get up to the lawn! Unfuckinbelievable!!! What had been a great show, with great vibes, now took a different turn for us. The guy in the wheelchair (who could barely see the first few feet of the lawn) was shouting out "Mark, Mark, where's my minidisc?" The despair, the disbelief, the agony, we could feel it, as we looked around and realize his shouts were not reaching those people he trusted. So we walked out with the guy. I gave him my email addy (although he is presently not online), and said I'd make dubs for him, even though I knew that's hardly a trade for being ripped off. What else could I do or should I have done? After all, I'd just made "the connection", and let them work out the details. So I decide to put my gear in my car and take a walk through the parking lot. I ran into the guy who offered the patch (not the 'deck-runner'). I asked if he knew what happened to the guy who was running the minidisc. He responded "Oh, did he ever come back? No, he didn't know. What would he (the guy w/ the rig) do with a minidisc recorder, he runs a DAT." He didn't really seem to sorrowful, but he could have been innocent. What could I do now? I couldn't search him or his car. You'd think he might have unhooked the recorder after the show, but then what happened? After all, if he was in such a hurry, he could have passed the recorder to me, and asked me to return it. After all, I'm sure I was no where being close to leaving the venue yet. I've seen this guy taping other shows before, but I don't know his name. He's about 6', relatively short brown hair, with a bushy brown moustache. I'd guess he's about 35 years old. Dude, if you read this, I am NOT accusing you, but maybe you could help physically describe this guy Mark who ran the minidisc...especially if you think Mark is the one who made off with it. However, if it was you that took it, look into your soul, admit your error in judgment, take the lumps, and come clean. (Then it would be no more questions asked, and I swear I'd never mention your name or point you out at a show. Honest...please trust me.) If you are the minidisc operator (Mark) I'm referring to (~30 years old & perhaps 6'2"), what were you thinking? Same deal here, if you had to leave early you could have passed off that recorder. Please reconsider, and all will be forgiven. Same offer for you. For all those that can help out in any possible way, because you may be one of the few who can, please speak up. Contact me privately, and we can try to work out a way to get this wheelchair guy's stuff back. For all others who've read this far, sorry to use the bandwidth. For those who are against 'bad trader posts', I would trust tapers more than the average concertgoer, but all tapers are obviously not honest trustworthy people, as exemplified here. For those who don't think I should have taken this much space, tough shit!!! Feel free to send me all the flaming you wish (preferably off the list). I can deal with it, because we all know this just should not have happened! Please help out if you can, -Dan Greenberg-

From: O Nelson <onelson@enteract.com> Subject: Attn J-card/CD cover makers: gazillions of free fonts Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 20:10:12 -0500 Sick of the fonts your computer/software came with? Get all the free fonts you can stomach by visiting these and other pages linked from them. Just download (they're tiny files), unzip, and drag the font into your font folder (in Windows it's in the control panel). That easy. Then impress your trading partners with your extreme creativity. And there's a freeware program for creating fonts. It's called Font Creator. It's available at zdnet and probably elsewhere. It will also allow you to modify existing fonts. http://fontgarden.virtualave.net/a/a.htm http://www.bvfonts.com/ http://create8.andrew.org/index.htm http://hem.passagen.se/woop/index.html http://www.brokentoy.com/font/fonts/a_l.htm http://www.shyfonts.com/home.html http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Palms/6075/archive1.html http://www.larabiefonts.com/fonts/a.html http://www.fontempire.com/ http://grungefonts.homepage.com/fonts.htm http://fontalicious.com/fontext/6.19/3.html http://www.chank.com If this crosspost bothers you, lighten up.
