I called Greg about two months ago with some sort of question (can't remember what...) and he was as helpful as ever. We even got cut off at one point, and he called me back after getting my number from the caller ID. That's terrific service! I can't emphasize enough what a helpful person Greg is. At one point I asked about a "ZA3" but he said that the company was moving in a different direction. Unfortunately, with the problems of new motherboards and disappearance of ISA slots, my days of using the ZA2 are probably coming to an end. That makes me sad. The ZA2 is such a great board, and there's not really anything out there to replace it-- something with all three inputs and outputs, and hardware resampling. I may just keep my current computer around and use the ZA2 in some sort of networked solution... I love the ZA2 too much. -steve

From: ABershaw@aol.com Subject: NEW vintage Janis Joplin & Van Morrison to trade Date: Fri, 2 Mar 2001 16:04:23 EST Hi all, I just borrowed two new nicely compiled boot CD sets of Janis Joplin and Van Morrison that were significant upgrades on vintage material. I have a week or so before major workloads kick back in, so I thought I'd offer them up for a few quick trades. The Janis Joplin set is called "Columbia Legacy Box Set Proposals" and it's a 3CD set. Disc one (32 tracks!) is all 1962-65 vintage recordings. Disc Two is all studio outtakes with Big Brother & The Holding Co and disc three is Kozmic Blues demos. The Van Morrison set is two CDs called "Anthropology Anthology 1962-74". It includes a rare 1962 45 with Georgie & The Monarchs, Them BBC stuff 1964-65, a 1967 West Germany TV concert, an eighteen minute outtake from the Moondance LP sessions called "Caledonia Soul Music" and various other 1971--74 TV and studio outtakes. If either of these sets interest you, I'll be happy to forward you the complete tracklist with details, rather than filling a digest with them. Please send a list (or link to it) if interested in a trade. I can reliably accomodate 5 or 6 trades. I'm primarily looking to upgrade a few 1966 Dylan sets and a few common old Dead shows from master reel sources. I can accomodate DAT or CDR format but prefer CDR since they're already in that format with indexes. Thanks, Alan

I have not had a chance to put > together a system with the ABit boards yet, although i was planning on doing > so sometime in the next few months. I can tell you that the problem I had with the ZA2 was due to the VIA drivers and not the auto-insert-notification. I had mine turned off. The problem with VIA drivers is a well known one, several card manufacturers have this piece of info in their FAQ. In fact, here is the text from the Zefiro web site: "WARNING, We've found a bug in the new VIA Apollo Pro133 chipsets for 500+Mhz computers. Until VIA can provide a fix for the problem, we advise all ZA2 users to avoid motherboards with the newer VIA chipsets. ZA2 Tech support information has now been added to the "ZA2" page." Take care, Paul

Thanks Todd! I was also wondering if anyone out there has a clean copy of Set 1 8/2/97(Phish at the Gorge). I just noticed my copy of 8/2/97" goes over" for a lengthy period at the end of the first set. I have an extra crisp recording of 8/3/97 Phish done with Beyer Dynamic MCE86n(c) shotguns that I could offer as trade bait. The MCE86n(c) mics are the same microphones used by the Boston Philharmonic to tape their shows. The tapes sound awesome and can be compared to soundboards of any quality. Take a peak at my list below and let me know if there is anything you might be interested in. Stan http://stanleyewilley.tripod.com
