Yup, those posts about Post-it Notes compromising the
back layer of CDs seem to be correct. I've spent the day
looking for those little suckers on any my CDs. I've
discovered a couple of things. First, the longer the note
has been stuck to the CD, the more likely there will be
damage. More important - some of the adhesive stays on
the CD after the note is pulled off. It is the adhesive that
does the damage over time. Now I'm going through ALL
my CDs looking for adhesive residue and cleaning it off with
Isopropyl. Sh*t.

Hi, I just received a catalog from MECI. They have some good deals on
SLA Batteries:
12v 17Ah $20
12v 5.5 Ah $10
12v 9 Ah $15
These are new although the one caveat is the 9Ah has a 94 date code on
it. I don't know enough about battery life to know how much that would
effect the discharge curve or the life of the battery. I would inquire
to the age of each cell before purchase.

hello one and all and just an ongoing request
Trying to establish reliable contacts for foreign (outside of US) radio
signals on FM. hoping some DAT-head or someone they may know can help me
out, and then that these live performances can be spread around. Even analog
would be cool.
this is mostly in regard to BBC Radio 3 (jazz shows) and P2 Sweden (same).
But also other sources like WDR, etc etc . And these outlets also have
various rock programs of live performances. [i e BBC Radio 2 or P3 Sweden]
***upcoming shows in particular----P2 Sweden on Tue 3/20 Wayne Krantz trio
[part 2] airing 12:05--13:05 //
Radio 3 BBC on Satur 3/24 Peter Brotzmann qt. airing
2330--0200.***
both P2 and Radio 3 have weekly (or twice-weekly) live jazz performances.
Usually the origin of the actual show is either in Sweden or UK,
respectively.
so, if someone can help us all out and circulate these FM shows, with strong
and clear signals, (obviously) that would be great.

Actually, it's not OK, as it does not do DAO. So you end up with little
gaps between the tracks, even after setting the gap to 0.
Only Toast Deluxe (not the "Standard" OEM version) 4.x (and, of course,
the new v5 when it ships) will do DAO. You can now set the gap to 0 for
all tracks at once, but I think the default is still 2 seconds. Jam
(Adaptec/Roxio's audio-CD-only package) will let you set a default for
new discs, and is more flexible, but you can get by with Toast Deluxe for
simple tasks.
Emagic's WaveBurner is also excellent, though I think it's been replaced
with a new "Pro" version that is quite a bit more expensive.

Here is a great opportunity for you burnerless folk who want to convert
your dats to cd...
Last fall I migrated to Dat> Plextor and no longer need my now 9-month old
Tascam CD-RW700. I estimate it has burned less than 50 discs. In
preparation for this sale I've had it checked out at the local pro-audio
shop and it's a perfect machine in perfect condition. Never rack mounted
and located in my home office. Originally purchased from Terrapin Tapes.
Original carton, all materials, remote, manuals etc..
$425 and I pay UPS ground shipping.
