Stealthed Jeff Beck last night @ The State Theater in Portland, ME about 2/3 of the way between the stage and the board.
Neumann Km140 cardiod caps>active cables >Beyer>SBM1>DAP1.
If there's a lot of interest, I'll tree this one. I don't have time to set up seperate trades.
I wouldn't give it a 10 but it sounds pretty good.
Peace, Jim Ratner

Hi all,
Although I was into the NYC Punk scene when it was first happening, I wa=
s=20
never particularly interested in the band Blondie until I recently was asked=
=20
to digitally transfer what I thought was a pretty incredible early recording=
=20
of them at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco on 9/21/77. It's sourced from th=
e=20
analog soundboard masters and includes both shows in their entirety as well=20
as the soundcheck. The soundboard masters were transfered to Beta Hi Fi and=20
since I have a Beta Hi Fi VCR that still works well, I was asked to digitall=
y=20
copy them to disc. Quality is excellent throughout and between the early and=
=20
late show, almost all of their first two albums are performed, along with=20
some surprising covers (Yardbirds, Doors, Stones). Fans of the NY Punk scen=
e=20
circa 1977 will probably love this, as its prior to Blondie having any hits=20
and their humor and attitude are still very much intact. Everything just fit=
s=20
on 2 x 80 minute CDs and I have 5 indexed copies available for quick trades.=

OK, maybe the question was too hard. Who, then, was Musashi? If you can
answer that, and promise to offer show up as a B&P, it's yours. First
correct response. The Slip, 12/17/00, Astro Hall, Tokyo, Japan; sbd.

Sasaki Kojiro was Musashi's main rival, although he was not a rival in
Musashi's mind, only his own. Question for the Miracle Orchestra freebee
will be...different.

I've taped there once in the past, a Rusted Root show, and had no problems
getting in and setting up. More spacious than the Orlando HOB, I don't
think the sound was as good though. Hopefully we'll be able to setup at the
back of the floor. And HOB in Orlando isn't too bad as far as security goes
if the waivers are signed by the band ahead of time, otherwise you're outta
luck.
Take Care,
Paul

Is there a way to adjust the "sample conversion" quality in Cool Edit 2000?
ie: If I want to convert a 48k DAT to 44k on my hard drive.
CE 1.1 had a little slider to adjust the quality and I can't find one in CE
2k...
Thanks Folks...

Subject: Midiman CO3, SCMS stripper?
Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2001 18:33:43 -0500
hey guys,
I bought one of these last year, mainly as a
digital signal converter (ie, optical>coax).
I never had used the SCMS stripping capabilities
because I never needed to (I go D8>DA20 for cloning).
However, today I was playing around with it, and it
seems this piece of garbage doesn't strip SCMS at all!
I tested out it by trying to record a "copy protected"
DAT on my D8. I put the SCMS switch to "none" and the
D8 refused to record the incoming signal (NOTE: It did
NOT flash "copy protect", it just refused to unpause).
So I tried to strip the SCMS by recording onto the Tascam
from the D8, and THAT didn't work. Apparently, the CO3
changed the signal from 48 to 44, which resulted in the horrible
"choppiness" that occurs when the signal isn't re-sampled.
I tried to change the SCMS switch to "original" and "1st generation"
with the same result. The only time it worked properly was
when I put the SCMS button on "pass through," which of course
doesnt strip the SCMS at all. Then I tried the coax out
of my cd player and THAT didn't work, either. In all cases
the red lights blinked.
So whats the deal with this thing? Do I have a defective
C03, or am I merely using it wrong? I'm a bit cheesed
cause I could have bought the C02 for MUCH cheaper, which
is the same as the C03 without the SCMS stripping.
BTW, my version actually is "M Audio" which i believe
is the same as Midiman. Has anybody experienced the
same thing?
Anyhow, drop a line if you have a solution or comments.
Thank you.
All the best,
Anthony

Hello All,
Anyone know if it's possible or will be possible to burn audio DVD's just
like we do standard CD's. Will the future generation of CD players read
DVD's as well? Seems like the next best thing to trading unedited or
edited dats once the price of blank DVD's comes down. Could easily put a
show or two onto one DVD.
