From: SlvrRcr@aol.com Subject: FS:Sony D7 DAT Recorder Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 09:57:39 EST I've owned my D7 for about 2 years and it has less than 12 hours of use on it. Its just sitting around collecting dust and I really need to pay some bills so my loss is somebody else's gain. Great entry level or backup deck for any taper. Looking to sell it rather quickly so the first reasonable offer gets the D7, leather carrying case, manual, extra battery sled, cleaning tape and a couple of unopened blanks. Please direct all responses to me at SlvrRcr@aol.com. Thanks! Tom
From: LenG58@aol.com Subject: Wav Editor...(NDC) Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 10:42:51 EST Hello All, Is there a consensus for which wav editor is easiest to use? My main concern is for resampling my 48 kHz DATs to 44.1. I plan on purchasing a DiO 2448 for digital in and will burn using EasyCD. Thanks! Len
From: Eddie Woodward <EWoodward@lva.lib.va.us> Subject: ISO: ABB 08/24/94 Richmond Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 10:52:20 -0500 Sorry to trouble the list. I have lots of ABB CD-Rs to trade. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! Sincerely, Eddie Woodward Williamsburg, Virginia
From: "Ray Quinlan" <noray@advinc.com> Subject: Another free DAT Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 11:04:40 -0500 Finally getting around to listening to the Miracle Orchestra show from last week, recorded at the Lion's Den, 3/16. WOW! Two sets of mics on-stage, Neumann TLM 170s and Schoeps 6/21s, mixed through a four-channel Sonosax mixer. There are a couple level adjustments early but they are barely noticable. The show is pure delight. The Miracle Orchestra is a four man jazz/funk/rock ensemble. Excellent musicianship, composition and improvisation. Hadn't seen them in a little while, but I was reminded how much I love these guys. If you haven't heard of them, check them out. You won't be disappointed. Anyway, I noticed Good Friday falls on the thirteenth this year. First person living in the continental US who can tell me the word for fear of the number thirteen (spelling counts), and who will promise to give a copy of this show away (either a B&P or a giveaway), can have a FREE copy. Happy hunting. :) rq
From: jopeter1 <jopeter1@vt.edu> Subject: MMW and Phil Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 11:29:16 -0500 Hello- Does anyone know the taping policies of MMW and Phil. I was unable to find/get taper's tickets. Is it first come first serve for the tapers pit. Also, anyone that is planning on taping MMW at JMU , March 30 or Phil and Friends April 19, Asheville and April 20, Charlotte, please let me know as I have never recorded before at a show and will need a patch and a "big brother/sister" to help me out. Peace and Thanks, John Peters
From: "Jonathan Pressman" <pressman@mail.utexas.edu> Subject: Re: Quick question about DVD burners. Reply-To: <pressman@mail.utexas.edu> Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 10:45:46 -0600 While I do believe the future of our recording medium will be on recordable DVD, it is still a few years away. The first round of dvd recorders is just coming to market now. They are expensive. More importantly, though, as near as I can tell, they will only record regular dolby digital DVDs. This means the nice 24/96 signals are compressed, like regular DVD movies. What we need is recordable DVD audio, which will be able to record and play non-lossy compressed audio. SInce dvd audio players are just now hitting the market, it will probably be awhile before these recorders get out. Anyone have any addtional info? Jonathan
From: "Fares Halteh" <Halteh3@home.com> Subject: ISO: Toronto Stealth Taper Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 12:20:23 -0500 I am set to tape a show at the Operah House on Sunday, March 25th. My problem is my mics (which were sent about a week ago) still haven't arrived. Seeing as how it is Friday and I never got them today it looks as though I won't have any for the show. Is there anyone out there who can lend me a set of stealth mics for the evening, that lives in Toronto (or surrounding area)? I can arrange to drive wherever you are and make the transaction as easy as possible. I am a very reliable person and will even give you some type of collateral for the time I have the mics. If anyone can help me, Please get back thanks for the time ====================================== Fares Halteh - Halteh3@home.com members.home.net/halteh3/main.html ======================================

From: Paul Kolber <paulkolber@bigplanet.com> Subject: Bono says "tape our shows" Reply-to: paulkolber@bigplanet.com Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 13:04:17 -0500 Reprinted without permission from the new issue of Propaganda (Issue 2, Vol.2), the U2 World Service Magazine: Q: Finally, a question for Propaganda subcribers; Hasta La Vista Baby, the live recording of PopMart in Mexico City, was very well received from fans all over the world. Will you be releasing further live recordings in this exclusive way? Bono: Anyone is welcome to tape our shows and pass them around to their friends. But if you start selling them, we will find where you park your car and we will pay you a little visit. Yikes...

From: "Steve Vahey" <sting27@epix.net> Subject: Glenn Hughes Taping Policy? Reply-To: "Steve Vahey" <sting27@epix.net> Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 16:17:21 -0500 Hi all, I'm headed to to check out Glenn Hughes in the near future and I was wondering if anyone knew his taping policy. Any info would be much appreciated. I'm guessing stealth will be required, but I'm hoping not. Thanks in advance. Steve

From: WAREAGLEBART@aol.com Subject: hi folks Date: Fri, 23 Mar 2001 19:19:11 EST New to the list and i got a couple questions cause i work at a small venue and are a small circuit but we get some stellar talent that is worth ricording. I just started taping a few months back and have mics and a d7. No preamp or nothin yet, i'm a dad too so that takes a lot of flow from my hobby. Now, i'm wonderin if i can use the mic and line in at the same time or if one takes precedence over the other. I'm also wonderin if i use a rca to one eighth, can i use 2 shielded y adapters to use the mics and board or will somethin get messed up in that process. Lookin forward to learin and any help with these questions would be highly appreciated. Thanks again . Bart list
From: "MEGAN BROWN" <meganbrown17@hotmail.com> Subject: drive on ebay Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 01:03:16 -0000 Hey Guys, Check out this auction on ebay. This is just what we all need. I bought one and it's really fancy. Burning dats on cds has never been easier. It makes trading a breeze. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1223097244 The drive will extract audio at approximately double speed (~2.2x). It will support SCSI-2, single-ended, async/sync transmission. The SCSI connector is the narrow, 50-pin internal type. Windows 98 will work with the appropriate SCSI card and drivers. I know of vdat and dat2wav software for Windows, but there may be others that will read in audio mode. These programs require ASPI drivers that are usually supplied by the SCSI card manufacturer. Also if they could let us know what the taping "policies rumors" may be. Open or stealth only. I know that this was discussed a bit earlier. Thanks and good luck. From: O Nelson <onelson@enteract.com> Subject: Piamenta tree Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 08:27:43 -0600 One of my DAT decks is currently giving me paranoid fits, so this is only CDR. This show truly rocks. It's not for nothing that he's call the Hasidic Hendrix, the Sephardic Santana and the Gefilte Garcia. Good old fashioned psychedelic guitar in the Hendrix vein, plus Arabic and Jewish rhythms along with rock rhythms. The band is guitar, bass, drums, keyboard.
