Subject: 48 to 44.1kHz resampling
Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2001 10:10:38 -0700
I've been pulling some shows off of my extensive dat collection via an
Archive Python SCSI dat and DAT2WAV. Anyway a good bit of the stuff is
at 48kHz and so I've been struggling with the downsampling. Anyone else
out there have some good advice here? Are there different methods of
doing this (I'd imagine there are) and what sort of anti-alaising (sic?)
filter should I be using? My experiments so far seem to indicate that
the best way to do this is to hook-up two Panasonic 3700's via analog
XLRs and resample that way, then pull the data off the dat and burn that
directly to disc. While its not a very high tech way to go it seems to
yield the best result to these ears.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Now all,
I just bought my KM140 set and can't be more pleased with it, especially
saving the big bucks by getting them from musicians-gear. Anyway,
I am in need of a good clamp and stand now that I have my rig together. If
anyone is selling a used stand/clamp please let me know.
Peace,

Subject: any tapers in Sydney, Australia and rest of OZ ??
Date: Thu, 05 Apr 2001 22:10:40
Hello Aussie tapers,
i didn't get much responses to my first post so i'll give it a new try.
anybody planning to tape any of the 2 KISS shows in Sydney,Australia this
weekend??
I would love to get any DAT or a good minidisc recording especially from any
of the 2 KISS Sydney shows this weekend as they do different medleys of
obscure songs down under these days.KISS shows i'm looking for are below.i
would even be willing to give you 3 dats(not blanks, but RECORDED shows)in
trade for one of the KISS shows on DAT below if you prefer that instead of
getting back your money for your KISS ticket.
A friend of mine spent over 24 hours last week on a plane travelling to
attend 7 of the current KISS shows listed below. As he is a die hard KISS fan
I would like to surprise him with a recording of one of the shows below when
he returns back to Europe in 14 days.is any tapers in Australia going to
tape or have taped any of the KISS shows listed below??
KISS:
Sunday 04/01/01 Adelaide, AUS Entertainment Centre
Tuesday 04/03/01 Melbourne, AUS Rod Laver Arena
Wednesday 04/04/01 Melbourne, AUS Rod Laver Arena
Thursday 04/05/01 Melbourne, AUS Rod Laver Arena
Saturday 04/07/01 Sydney, AUS Sydney Superdome
Sunday 04/08/01 Sydney, AUS Sydney Superdome
Friday 04/13/01 Gold Coast, AUS Carrara Stadium
If not,i would gladly like to pay you back for all ticket costs and blanks
if i got a free clone(or cdrs)from one of the gigs above. There are still
good tickets available for the last 2 KISS Melbourne shows above and also
for the 2 Sydney shows this weekend.I would even be willing to cover any
transport costs for a taper who's going to tape preferably one of the Sydney
shows or any of the Melbourne shows since those are all indoor shows.PLEASE
get in touch with me as soon as possible if anybody is planning or has taped
any of the KISS shows above.I am able to send money for ticket and blanks in
US money any day this week to the first taper who's responding to this
post.I am also in touch with several DAT tapers in Europe and USA who can
prove this is not some kind of a joke and that i will cover all your costs
if i get a free clone(or cdrs)of any gig above. If you still doubt about my
honesty please get in touch with this taper at this address:
r2d2@quik.com.My impression is that it is rather few tapers in Australia, but
i really hope i'm wrong. To prove i'm wrong PLEASE contact me directly at:
bloodfiends@hotmail.com if you can help. Also looking to trade for any KISS
Japan 2001 shows and especially any of the shows listed above.Have about 35
KISS US 2000 dats for trade plus many other artists like rare REM,Tina
Turner,AC/DC etc.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom

Hey all,
Anybody know if taping is disallowed for the 2 shows at Irving Plaza. Never
taped at Irving Plaza, but have taped Soulive and am aware of how kind they
are to tapers with onstage micing, sbd patches, etc. At ticketmaster.com,
both Irving shows read "no rec"
Venue policy? Any clarification would be appreciated. Would love to bring

night, please get in touch.

Subject: Rig Advice
Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2001 21:54:08 -0500 (CDT)
Hey All...
Myself and a couple others are putting together a rig for the upcoming
spring
and summer. WE have KM140s (non active) and a D10II (plus a couple D8s,
etc.
too) and have a used Sonosax on the way. So, now the question becomes this:
1. Do we need another A>D after the SX-M2? Both a modified SBM-1 and ADC-
20
have been mentioned. I am also dying to see what the lucid will do with
this setup if it becomes portable. Is this logical?
2. Would we benefit more from having a preamp instead of an A>D? How does
the preamp on the SX-M2 compare to others? How would an MP2 work there?
We
don't have the ching for a V2 or Oade.
3. Would there be great gains made by purchasing LC3 active cables for the
KM140s? I don't know if it would improve sonic quality, but it would give
us
the ability to run stealth if need be.
Are there any combinations that you all can suggest?
Are there any products that we are neglecting? Yes,. money is an issue...
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks Much
