hey kids
i have no idea what they're doing, but apparently 5-15-01 in london there is
the debut of pet shop boys musical, which is intriguing. I knew I should
have subbed to a PSB list. But if anyone here goes and tapes it, I'm
interested. Actually I'm also ISO any dat clones of recent PSB gigs incl '94
Australian tour, I have clone of '99 Houston as well as my own Dortmund '00
master, and an FM b/c of Glasters '00 master (55 minutes).

Hey everyone
A friend of mine went to the show, I thought it'd be a nice gift. I have a
Til Tuesday gig (analog tape first gen from D5 master) from 9-84 in New
Hampshire, which has about 50% unreleased songs and an early version of
"voices carry" - it's your basic bar-band type concert, but quite nice. So I
thought it'd be a nice trade offer, but of course other trades are fine, I
just need that married couple's Bimbo's gig. Thanks!

Not the Sound pro 853's or related, but the normal size condensers?
The AT4051 or 4053a is what I'm talking about. I've never seen them
used for field recording before. I once used the sound pro 853's and
thought they were very nice for $180. I'm wondering what a $1000 pair
of AT's might sound like.

hey everyone
I finally have cloned my below Pavement analog audience masters to dat:
5-19-92 cattle club sacramento (only audience taper) aiwa & ECM929LT
5-10-93 old ironsides sacramento (only audience taper) marantz & mic
3-18-94 l'aeronef lille and 3-19-94 vk bruxelles (one of many aud tapers) D3
& PC62
anyway I'm trying to get dat clones from recent SF pavement shows, 1997
onwards, if possible; also have other Pavement but all on analog tape, from
1991 to 1995. Plus have about 300 dats with other materials. But I figured
SF pavement tapers/traders might prefer to swap for Pavement/etc.
sorry for asking for so much stuff at once.

I'm just wondering what options there are these days in a good quality
low-cost digital I/O card? Is Zoltrix a recommendable product?... or, in
the long run... is one better off spending a bit more on a card? I have an
HHB PDR1000-TC DAT recorder, an HP 9150i cd-writer, and an older pc with a
Pentium 200 processor. Of course, I'm going to have to get a new mother
board, chipset, and processor at some point... so, compatibility is vital.

Hey everybody,
I recently purchased a AKG480/ck63 -> DMIC20 -> D8 setup and I am wondering
about what to set the Sensitivity to on the DMIC20. When I taped my first
show (the Flecktones on 2-10-01) I set it to -35 and quickly found out that
that was to high. Then I moved down to -30 and that is still to high. I
just wanted to know what those of you who are experienced with this (or
similar) setup usually set this to. Any help would be appreciated. Email
me at zacwilliams1@home.com
thanks,

The Line input impedance is much higher than the mic input and
completely eliminates the effect of the bass roll-off filter, hence your
extra bass. That's why we don't recommend using the Line input, but
rather (as Mark notes) using a 20 dB attenuator cable into the mic input
on low sensitivity (really low gain -- the switch on Sony recorders is
not an attenuator but rather a low gain setting).
I hope this helps!

Hey all--
I have subscribed to this list in about a year, as I have been removed from
the taping community for quite some time now. I'm looking to offload some
of my gear, as I am downsizing my rig. Unless noted, all items are in
excellent condition, most having not been touched since august 2000.
Items for sale include:
--Lunatec V2 pre-amp by Grace Designs:
Rarely do you see one of these things for sale on this list; it's
reputation precedes it, so I won't waste my time explaining what a
powerhouse little unit this is. It is in excellent condition, maybe with
25 hours on it, tops. Bought for $1300 in spring '99; sell for $1000 now.
--Matched pair Microtech Gefell m300 w/ wooden Jewelers boxes:
I see this on here time and again, and I think they're a great value for
the dollar. Paid $950 in spring '99; I'd be happy with $650 on the pair.
--Eco Charge Sigma system, 6 volt:
I used this guy to power my M1 and V2 setup. Again, maybe a total of 25
hours usage on it. $100 with the charger and cables included, of course,
would do me just fine.
Plus other smaller accessories:
--Pair of Whirlwind 20' XLR cables: $50/pair
--2 AT8410a Shockmounts, showing some wear: $60/pair
--2 DPA UA0896 Windscreens: $25/pair
--Shure a27m mounting bar: $20
--12' Bogen stand, thumbscrews, with boom (no backweights)...i'll toss in
the thread adapter and a gooseneck: $60
I'd prefer to sell the entire thing as a package, but the reality is that
the V2 will be the most sought after commodity.

Subject Trade for Phil 4/20: M1 and 6V power /
Date: Mon, 23 Apr 2001 17:04:12 -0400
Hello all, I saw a thread in a recent post that said that it was ok to use a
6v rechargeable on a 4.5v M1. If you use a 6V power source you will fry a
small switch in your deck. You will then be unable to get power from any
source, even internal batteries. I have had to have my M1 repaired twice in
the last two years with this problem. Finally I dumbed up and bought a
battery with the correct voltage.
Prodigital has fixed my deck fast and fairly cheap (<$100) both times.
Trade offer: looking for PHIL 4/20 Have 4/19 Asheville to trade.
Sonic Sense rig:mbho603a/ka500>ad2k>V2 (asheville)
------------------------------
>>
6 volt external input is very much within the limits for non-stressful
operation of the D100/M1 decks.
I don't know what your particular problem was, but I know for sure (after
providing powering for several thousand D100/M1 DAT decks in the last 5-6
years on exactly 6 volts with NOT even 1 problem, ever), that 6 volts is very
OK for these decks as they do work with an internal switching supply that may
handles much greater than 6 volts input without problem.
Your deck was not failing from applying 6 volts as this is acceptable for
these decks, something else was not right with your deck and that's for sure.
Perhaps one of the power supply components was way off specification and just
failed from not being correct in the first place. Applying 6 volts just
pushed this weak component to cause failures in other components, but the
faulty component remains active in your deck and may cause more failures
quickly only under applying a little more input voltage.
I'd have your deck's power supply components thoroughly checked as something
is not working correctly, just a matter of time before it breaks again for no
good reason if this weak component is not found.

Leonard Lombardo

are way off? Are there any sound differences (if any) between the two?

This Is my setup:
40 Gigas on hard drive
cool edit pro
sounblaster live value with opticompo adapter to make
the soundblaster digital signal fully capable;
Digital I/O TTL and COAX
I hooked my PCM-M1 to the TTL input via the Sony
7pin>TTL cable to the IN TTL of my computer
Since the concert is too long I want to record in 3
CD´s, first 74 minutes, then another 74 etc...
I have recorded tis huge .wav file 75 minutes long.
When I checked it on the cool edit pro, I was
surprised to find..... not one or two, but various
random parts on different places of the .wav that had
small missing parts of the music, missing fractions
of a second, clicks.
can someone help me?
I dont get it since I have like 39 gigas left on my
hard drive
What do I need to do?
I would really appreciate any help, suggestions
