I am in search of Phil and Friends from Roseland on 4/30/01. If anyone
would be willing to spin a copy I would appreciate it and try to help you
out with something else. Those of you who were there know the problems some
of us might have had getting decks into the place and the crowded situation
in there. I recently got an excellent recording of the ABB on 3/21. It is
a great tape. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Date: Thu, 3 May 2001 13:36:12 +0200 (MEST)
Howdy folks,
I really need the help of our community here this time. Problem is, I own
several of the best DAT machines ever built: The Grundig Fine Arts DAT
recorders. Two of my beloved beauties (Grundig Fine Arts DT-9000) have the same small
problem with the cassette drawer which leaves me unable to use them
anymore.Talked to the Grundig Service Hotline and they knew the problem just too well
but they no longer hold this tiny little plastic gearwheel/toothed wheel
that opens the cassette gate.
I know for sure that Grundig didn't build these units alone, there is same
machines under a different brand name. Please take a look at the machine
(DAT-9000) at
http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/grundek.htm
and let me know if you know what manufacturers sold the same machine under a
different name.Or if you know a machine that used the same transport and the
same opening mechanism, please be so kind and forward me the info.
If you have spare parts, broken decks you no longer need (eitehr the
original Grundig or the lookalike), please let me know...I'm happy to take it off
your hands.
Any dealers/repair centers (Klay,Oades,...) who can help here???
Will send a photo of the broken gearwheel if anyone needs it
Best from Munich, Germany

Hello, all.
I was wondering if anyone taped or knows of anyone who taped the Kimock run
in Colorado last month. The Kimock list serve has been hot on the topic and
there are many avid Kimock fans that would LOVE to get a glimpse of what the
lucky folks in Colorado were able to see.
If you can hook me up with the shows or know of anyone that can, I would be
very grateful. If you would like to see a list and work out a trade, please
let me know.
Thanks for the BW.

You probably would be happier getting a DDS drive that can read audio DATs
as well. That way you are going directly to the computer and you are not
dealing with transfer protocols, etc.

Hi,
I am looking for any players than can play an audio DAT (recorded in LP
mode) faster than real time.
With either analog or digital (probably not SPDIF for this type of
thing) outputs.
We have a large number of tapes that we would like to transfer to
computer, and to do that faster than real-time (ie: faster than they
were recorded). At the moment this takes four hours per tape,
and we would at *least* like to cut this in half.
Thanks,
Owen.

If you have a choice, get a different model DAT recorder. The -D7 is
already three generations old. It was offered only for a short period,
before it was replaced by the -D8, primarily because of transport
problems. It also did not have a wonderful mic pre-amp or a-to-d
converter.
> Do you recommend connecting the CSB:s to the TCD-D7's mic-in using an 20

It's safe to use the line input, and you can use it when you're recording
very loud sound sources. The line input has a much higher impedance
than the mic input, and that stops the bass roll-off filter from working
as designed. So if you need the filter you should use a 20 dB
attenuator into the mic input (on "L" or "-20") rather than the line
input.
I hope this helped!

I have a friend who has the Terapin VideoCD recorder and he absolutely
swears by it. I am not sure if it is mpeg-1 (VCD) or mpeg-2 (SVCD),
although I would assume mpeg-1 since it says all DVD players, but you can

Subject: -12dB DAT Walkman max record levels
Date: Fri, 4 May 2001 05:36:18 +1000
I have always been careful to stick to Sony's recommendation
that record levels on my DAT walkman (TCD-D8) should not
exceed -12dB.
I understand the reason for this advice is that the built-in
pre-amp would 'brick wall' if you drive the unit too hot.
=46air enough, but what if you no longer use the built-in preamp
or a/d? In my case I now run the mics into an MP-2 amp which
then goes into a SBM-1 which then feeds a digital signal to
the D8. Since I bypass the crappy Sony D8 preamp, can I now
safely record at louder levels (still avoiding clipping of course)?

Andrew Nemeth

Subject: Can cooledit automatically sync two tracks?
Date: Thu, 03 May 2001 19:50:16 -0400
Hello all,
I recently taped a friend of mine, and I had the opportunity to make two
tapes. One from the soundman's DAT machine, and another from my mics in
the audience.
I'd like to dump both DAT's on my computer and create a matrix recording by
mixing both the sbd recording and the aud recording.
Other than manually lining up the files myself and checking by ear to see
if they line up, is there some kind of CoolEdit function that will
automatically sync up the two tracks? The set wasn't that long, about 40
minutes, if that matters.
Thanks in advance!
-Paul

Hi,
I have a pair of Core Sound Binaurals with Switchable battery box plus removable clips for sale. Price for a new set up is 245usd.
These are as new and have been used at about 15 shows.
Also for sale is a pair of Core Sound Cardioids without battery box.
These have only been used at three shows. Price for a new pair is 200.
IŽll take nearest offer above 250usd for both sets due to a heavy upgrade!
Shipping to wherever will be included in this price.
