Subject: ZA2 for sale
Date: Sun, 06 May 2001 21:50:52 -0700
I'm selling my trusty old ZA2 card. Yes, it's the end of an era.
Unfortunately, the ZA2 and my new motherboard had a quarrel, and they presented
me with an ultimatum... one had to go. It's going to be the ZA2.
The card is in excellent condition. I have the card, the breakout cable, the
manual, and the original driver diskette.
This same item was just sold by Jamie Lutch (IIRC) on ebay (Item #1233849528)
for $212.50. I will offer mine up for $210, and I'll pay shipping via USPS
priority mail to anywhere in the U.S. For destinations outside the U.S., we'll
figure it out.
The card worked beautifully on my old motherboard, an Epox MVP3G with first an
AMD K6-2/300 and most recently a K6-2/400. As a matter of fact, if you're
interested in a working solution, I will be glad to work out a deal with you to
sell you the ZA2 and the motherboard/CPU combo upon which this card served so
loyally. The MB/CPU are also in excellent condition.
Drop me a line if you're interested.

I know that DATLib for linux will decode the LP 12-bit non-linear
format and convert it to 16 bit on-the-fly (32kHz). Irix on the SGI
(only ever tested with Irix 5.2) will read the data in raw mode, but
leave the data in its 12 bit "compressed" format and be essentially
useless. I have no idea what the windows variants (DAT2WAV and VDAT)
do with LP data.

Yeabut, that won't contain magnetic fields, only RF fields, and then I would
doubt it would do any good at certain frequencies. For magnetic shielding,
one must use MuMetal. See:
