Subject: Colorado Tapers Group/Telluride Bluegrass Festival
Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 15:55:01 EDT
A few days back, someone wrote in to the digest with a web address for the
Colorado tapers group, that I thought I had saved, now that I go to look for
it, seems my short term memory loss strikes again. I'm going to be heading
out to Telluride for the Bluegrass Festival, and spending time after in CO.
to. I've got a nice mic rig, but for purposes of this festival, I would much
prefer to patch out of someone who also has a nice rig, and hopefully save my
mic's form 2 weeks of torture, hence the address.
Just trying to get on the ball early. If anyone is going to be taping this
year and wouldent mine a throwing a patch my way, or could remember that web
address and send that my way, I would be eternally "Grateful".
Thanks

I wouldn't recommend it. Aside from all the tiny little parts inside
the DAT machine, there are a variety of test devices (alignment
tape, torque gauges, oscilloscope, etc) that you would need.
If you CAREFULLY disassemble and re-assemble the deck, you
can probably do a wet cleaning by yourself, but I wouldn't
recommend touching anything else. And if the deck is working
now, it probably doesn't need a wet cleaning.
You can buy a service manual from the manufacturer for around
$25-$50 if you'd like to at least review the proper procedures, and
the proper disassembly technique.

Hey all,
I would like to offer up DAT clones of the 4/24/2001 Mark Knopfler show
at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT. Good sound from a hq rig:
DPA 4061's> Sony M1, @44.1 kHz, from the 5th row.
The show is just over 2 hours (2:06) so it requires a 90M dat.
I am in need of a pair of general admission tickets to the June 3rd
Hartford, CT, U2 show. Can someone here help me out?
This offer is open to all and I will make SCMS free copies for all who
reply. Can anyone offer DAT>cd transfer for me?
Please send your list for trades. I am looking for hq 2001 U2 as well
as a wide variety of other performers. I will also accept B&P offers
for those who do not want to trade. This will require one 90m blank
dat.
peace,
Sean

Subject: Mic setup for sale!
Date: Fri, 18 May 2001 0:10:15 -0400
Hey, I'd like to offer up my taping setup for sale.
The setup consists of a KJ Labs ECMS box with cables for remote use of AKG's CK9x series of capsules for the blueline microphone line. The system of was carefully designed to improve the
efficiency of AKG caps and to exploit them to their fullest potential. I've mastered some cherry tapes with this setup!
The 3"x6"x1" ECMS (Enhanced Capsule Microphone System) box provides the functions of the mic bodies, the preamp, and the microphone power supply. The signal coming out is line level and ready for A/D, making the system a complete high quality taping rig in an unobtrusive package.
Any of the capsules made for AKG's blueline series (omni, card, hypercard, shotgun) will connect to the remote cable heads.
Available:
JKLabs Custom ECMS box, feat. Adjustable Gain, two Bass Rolloff settings,
15+ hrs of uninterrupted operation on 4 9v internal batts
Documentation
Pair of remote cables for use with AKG CK9x caps,
Pair of akg CK91 card caps w/ windscreens
Please feel free to email for sample recordings, pictures, more details.
Everything is in good condition. This unit is VERY rare--only a handful made.
Box cost me $500
Cables cost me $400
Capsules cost me $400
Thanks for the BW--peace
