I'll be attending these special Pre-European Tour shows
of hers in an intimate LA venue (700-1000 capacity),
her only scheduled performances in this country for
this tour, and of course hopefully recording it.
If anyone out here are going to any of these gigs,
and are also planning to be rolling a tape, please
drop me an email, much appreciated! :)

Subject: more tcd-d7 question- battery sled for AA's
Date: Sat, 19 May 2001 20:10:25 -0500
OW,
You're temporarily hatin it. . . you need a "sled" that takes 4 AA
batteries, it's the same sled in a D7, a D8 and I bet the one from the
D6 (Analog cassette deck) would work. . . it's plastic, you are screwed
without it except for the DC in jack, (though you can get a lead-acid
battery for and run the deck for 20 hours or more). . .
anyhow, I'd call sony or your fave sony dealer for that part. . . sony
has a 1-800 number, but I bet it's quicker to call someone who knows
exactly what you need- I'll recommend oade brothers, I've been treated
fairly there time after time. http://www.oade.com but I bet sonic sense
or pro digital can take care of you too.
good luck, hope this helps, I don't have one of these decks, but I've
borrowed them a lot, because they really will run more than 3 hours on a
set of alkalines, especially if you don't use the headphones, indiglo,
or line out (A or D)
-tom
hi again, i also need a user manual for this tcd-d7 . anyone out there
have one and want to copy it for some boots from my list? i'm not even
sure
how to put batteries in it. i have the ac adapter and the unit works,
but
there is no picture on the unit showing how the batteries go in. i see
two
contacts on one end of the battery well, but none on the other. i assume
it
takes 4 AA batteries?

Im posting this for my friend Mike. He is looking to sell an immaculately
clean Nakamichi DR2 3-head cassette machine with original packaging and
manual. The machine has been proffesionally aligned and cleaned, in perfect
working order. He is looking to get 499.00 or best offer. This was the last
of the quality Nakamichi cassette decks circa 92-95, and is perfect for
those needing a machine to transfer their analog masters to CD.
Contact Mike for more info:
mike@jorsm.com
and check out the Nak unoffical page for more info on the DR2 and other
classic Nakamichi cassette decks.:

I taped Los Hombres Calientes (Irvin Mayfield and Bill Summers)
last night with incredible results.
5/19/01
Asheville, NC - Asheville Music Zone
Af:D (119 minutes)
Microtech Gefell SMS2000/M200> SX-M2>SBM1>D8
Setlist:
Impresssions, Bill's Q-vette, Brother Running, (still working on the rest)...
According to Bill Summers, they played the first 'Watermelon Man'
at this show.
I plan to offer this show again next week, but if anyone has any
Los Hombres Calientes (especially from Jazz Fest) please contact me if you
are interested in an immediate trade. I already have this tracked and on
cdr (I can trade DAT or cdr).
P.S. The band's new keyboardist is a fan of the Dead and has clued the
band on to the wise stance towards taping. They now allow soundboard
patches as well as audience recordings (in the past they allowed nothing).
Take Care,
Delano

hey hey y'all-
I was just wondering what experiences people have had recently with
installing the newer, larger hard drives and faster CDRs in old
computers...my new Imation unit states that it required a minimum of 300mhz
machine to function, and I was wondering if I could get away with an 8x in
something like a pentium 133. Also, can I support a large hard drive? I
hit pricewatch.com and it looks like I can get a quantum 40 gig for around
$100...would I need to install something like a Promise card to support a
drive that large? Lookin to put together a download/burn station for a
friend of mine...
Thanks!

Subject: German repair for Sony decks

Hi,
one of my sony decks died last week. I remember mailing with a German
DAT-Heads member who recommended a DAT repair shop in Berlin back in
1996 or 1997. However, I can't find the e-mail from back then :-(
Can anyone recommend a repair shop in Germany who is familiar with the
Sony DTC 60 family? I prefer my DAT deck being repaired by a
repairperson who deals with that kind of machine frequently. Any
hints?
Thanks in advance!
Greetings
Marc
