I am searching for 2 shows that someone might have: A Led Zeppelin 70s bootleg (79 maybe) called "Dallas Are You Receiving Us?" and A recent Bela Fleck Show from the MELK WEG in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The date was Sunday, May 6, 2001. My list isn't online but I have lots of Phish and various other awesome shows from other great bands, that I have access to. Be well. I'd pick up a Roland UA-30 for audio stuff..it's USB I'll tell you that I just switched from Mac to PC as well so I think we are on the same page ... Some info on the Roland: The Roland singanl processes 20bit leanear AD/DA converter with only 16 bit & 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling frequencies. So, it is not the way of the future but it does suit my proposes (simple DAT>CD transfers and now..they are paired with c1000s in my set up for crissssaakke ;-) ;-) It has Analog RCA in's and out's, optical & Coaxial S/PDIF I/O, a 1/4" mic imput and a 1/8" mini headphone jack with a large adjustable volume and LED gain indicators. It costs between $150.00 > $220.00 depending on where you get it, sales, and so forth. If you need AES capability (like I do - I have a D-10 ProI) you are best off getting a Nutrik digital transformer from Markertek (or where ever, you vendors;-) that will switch between 75 and 110 ohms passively for $30 and a $1 BNC to RCA adaptor... here is the link to the transformers at Markertek (like I said I'm sure someone ellse on the list will try and sell you some of this stuff.) http://www.markertek.com/MTStore/product.CFM?BaseItem=NA%2DBF Now, if you are comming from a Mac environment, my guess is that you have some SCSI stuff that is probably pretty nice. If you don't want to get rid of it just because your current PC doesn't have a SCSI port, you are probably better off getting a PCMCIA>Ultra SCSI adaptor. Adaptec makes 'em (for about $100). You can use any External SCSI device with a laptop, including a 16/10/42 Plextor CD Burner or a good deal of that old Mac stuff provided they make drivers for PC's too.. Here is the link for the product and then check ebay for a good deal and they are pretty hard to find at a decent price new... I'm just waiting for my old P.O.S. 4x EXP burner (which is a PCMCIA burner that's SUPPOSED to run at 8x but never has...avoid this company, they suck and it took them 4 months to even reply to my questions) to die so I have an excuse to "need" to upgrade my system =-) So check out the links below and I hope that helps ya out. Best wishes, Josh ****OH BY THE WAY!!! (sorry to shout but it was a long post) Im LOOKING FOR A COPY OF GRATEFUL DEAD 12/12/78 on DAT or Disc for a good friend. I just had to send my D-10 Pro to ProDigital but I'll e happy to make CDs or spin DATs in about a week or just +P it...THANKS!!*** http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/product/proddetail.html?prodkey=APA-1480A&cat=%2fTechnology%2fSCSI%2fSCSI+for+Laptops http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=SlimSCSI+1480 >>>>From: Rich Mays Subject: PCMCIA laptop card Reply-To: richmays@home.com Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 21:56:56 +0000 I am looking for suggestions for a PCMCIA card for an IBM Thinkpad laptop, but not for recording. I need it to get digital input to run some very helpful audio software from that is similar to Spectrafoo. Therefore, it does not need to be "state-of-the-art"-- 16-bit is fine. I am a bit at a loss, as this is my first experience in the PC/Windows world, and my years of Mac are not helping much with this! If someone has a card for sale (preferably with AES/EBU input capability) pls respond privately. The remainder of the auto features can be disabled with the auto/manual switch. I have purchased one for field recording but it has not arrived yet. I'll be happy to let you know how it performs, but I don't typically record real loud music. -rup ============================== From: None Subject: Shure FP410 Date: Fri, 25 May 2001 08:23:46 -0700 (PDT) Anyone familiar with this unit? This is due to the fact that Frequency Modulation cannot deviate too far from the base freq. To stay within these parameters the signal is highly compressed. The other problems mentioned also apply. The audio generally sucks. These devices were intended for speaking events so you get about 400-4000hz response with sharp rolloff beyond that. This actually helps with the compression. I however didnt record all the bands that i wanted to. I am looking for: Darkstar Orchestra set II + encore Keller Williams Leftover Salmon From that festival i have DSO set I, Donna the Buffalo, Lake Trout, Dr. Didg, and The Recipe. All those recordings are SBD at 44.1kHz. If someone has the shows i am looking for and wants to setup a b&p please email me at jtrinkes@home.com Unfortunately i am a uni-decker so b&p works well for me. The other option is loan&clone. My dat list can be found here: http://www.taping.org/dat_list.txt If anyone wants a show from my list let me know, i am always looking to setup new trades. Either b&p or loan&clone work for me.
