From: Klay Anderson <klay@klay.com> Subject: Best Rig at Any Price; Klay's Version Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 14:55:29 -0600 OK. Stop being wussies. Let's put this to rest. Here is the Brauner Atmos mic and preamp: http://www.soundperformancelab.com/Atmos/in_detail.html Here is the DCS A/D, you will need 3 for all the channels: http://www.dcsltd.co.uk/adcs.htm Here is the Genex recorder; you will need 2 to overlap record time: http://www.hhb.co.uk/FMPro?-db=HHB_Catalogue_Online.fp5&-lay=Web&-Format=hhb productsint.htm&-Token=USA&Product_Code=GX8500&-FIND Add a few bucks for a stand, cases, signal and AC cabling, etc. If you have to ask how much, you can't afford it. And if desired, I am certain I can come up with a suitable playback system...... -- Regards, Klay Anderson, D.A.,Q.B.E. Klay Anderson Audio, Inc. http://www.klay.com 1.800.FOR.KLAY

Not true. Only Sony consumer has stopped making dats, and the M1 comes from Sony's Pro division (fortunately...) And the DAT Store currently has all three models: D8, D100, M1, in stock... thank you, --Gary
From: "Gary Davis" <gdavis@loop.com> Subject: Re: Hank III Reply-to: gdavis@loop.com Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 14:18:22 -0700 Just to second that, this guy is worth taping. It's a very strange mix of music. The first set is sortof hard drinkin' guitar lovin' country music. The second set is closer to death metal. Most of the audience leaves during the second set. From what I saw, these guys will let you do any kind of taping you want. --G

Anyone got a > Lunatec V2 they wanna part with? please e-mail me privately off the list. tc E.A.A./A.E.T.A. Audio released a few dozen PSP-2s last year. Masterpiece AV had a bunch in stock at one point; I think I bought their last one, but anyone interested might wanna check with them to see if there's any left. (www.masterpieceav.com). I *love* mine; it made an enormous difference in the sound of my KM-140s, and it's small enough to stealth if the need arises (though I've only used it in non-stealth situations so far.) I figured the $300 extra I would've spent for M/S decoding with the V2 wasn't worth it since I don't plan on doing M/S. I personally think the PSP-2 sounds as good as, if not better than, the V2 (though I guess that's a more subjective thing; some people like the SX-M2, too, and don't get me started on mic preferences... :) Plus it runs on AA batteries, so you don't need Yet Another SLA Battery -- my gear's heavy enough as it is... - A.P.
From: Mike Hooker <mhooker@optonline.net> Subject: tape length Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 20:47:51 -0400 hi, as a newbie, i'm confused about tape length. some are refered to as dt-60, dt 120, ect. i assume that means 60 min, 120 min . other tapes are in meters, how are they designated? are only computer back up tapes labeled in meters? how does d-60 translate in meters, and visa versa. i have one tape labeled r-124md , masterdat. what the heck is that? thanks much see my music trading page: http://pages.zdnet.com/mikehooker/hookstradingpage have fun, Mike Hooker ______________

From: L Sean Kennedy <liam@xo.com> Subject: useful digital tools at sam ash Reply-To: Sean Kennedy <liam@fedney.tech.xo.com> Date: Thu, 31 May 2001 23:46:54 -0400 samash.com has the Behringer Ultramatch for $99. Its quite useful if you have multiple decks and also will strip SCMS. That is the best price I have seen and certainly compares favorably to format converters. Markertek also appears to have reduced their prices and has it for $129. Sam Ash also has the Furman AR-1215 for a decent price for anyone who wants a good power conditioner. Sean
From: "Erik B" <erikb33@bellatlantic.net> Subject: the negro problem Date: Fri, 1 Jun 2001 01:52:34 -0700 A band I like a lot, The Negro Problem, is playing this Saturday at Spaceland in LA. For whatever reason, they'll be performing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album. Anybody interested in taping? They've never had a problem with me taping their shows in NYC (aud/sbd aud or video).... (also on the bill are Sugarplastic, Bamboozled, and Spooky Pie, none of which I know anything about) thanks, Erik erikb33@bellatlantic.net

An FM source from BBC Radio 1. So I'd like to offer it up here on DAT or CD. I'm really looking for trades for more Verve, Richard Ashcroft, James, Travis, Oasis, Charlatans etc. Haven't really got much time for B+Ps at the moment. And whilst I'm here, I'm looking for any live Charlatans (UK) stuff. I've got a ton of stuff to trade in return from other bands.
