Just to let everyone know, there are DAW-Mac and DAW-PC groups that already do a lot of discussing of Digital Audio Workstations for Mac and PC. I recently unsubbed from the Mac version, because it was too much info to wade through every day. Top level interaction with top level audio engineers (and others, of course!). Edwin PS While I am posting, I am looking for the following shows. Since these are mostly shows I went to and I have copies of most of them of varying quality, I am looking only for the highest quality (and would expect nothing less from DAT-heads!). TIA. check my website for trade opportunities! Just got John Scofield from the Boulder Theater that is not listed there, everything else should be up to date. I haven't noticed any significant high-end rolloff, but then most PAs seem to be rolled off around 10k anyway. Only problem I've had is they're big and tend to catch the wind really well; I've had my stand (Mole-Richardson Baby Husky) blow over once. While you can hear the stand being caught mid-fall (thanks to the tapers around me), there's no wind noise at all on the tape. If you run high-end mics outdoors very much, I think you'd be foolish not to buy these or some other high-end screens. You wouldn't buy a $1k camera lens and put a $10 filter on it, right? -Eugene ------------------------------ From: TheWarehouse41@aol.com Subject: For Sale Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2001 15:27:38 EDT Looking to get rid of a few items: Sharp Minidisc Recorder MD-MT821 (GL) - Great for a begining taper. Date: Tue, 05 Jun 2001 16:16:52 -0400 I need a digital soundcard to replace my current analog one for my computer. I have a Sony PCM-M1 with a Oade digi I/O-A cable. The Audiophile 2496 card seems to have what I am looking for along with the digi coax in. This card is in my price range at around $150.00. I was wondering what Pros and Cons there are with this card? (for those of you that have used or are using this product) Or, does anyone have any other suggestion as to what card I might want to concider. Thanks for all of your help, Jeff PS- I am posting this question to Oades Taper's Forum as well. If you are interested in seeing their replys. Hoping to get some different input. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ From: "chris rees" Subject: re: mermen post Date: Tue, 5 Jun 2001 18:21:51 -0400 was very interested in taping the mermen for the person who posted about that opportunity, but the email addy provided bounced back. please email me if you posted this and i can do the detroit gig. both snb and aud. cr milan mi www.tdi.net/rees ALWAYS looking for any mike watt-related tapers..minutemen, fIREHOSE, solo, J Mascis & The Fog, banyan, etc... ------------------------------ From: "Mike Hooker" Subject: mic or line in? Both units have become redundant in my chain of gear and I see me putting them to work no more. Each was racked idle for much of its time with me--while I haven't accurately logged how many hours I've placed on either, the Fostex unit has no more than 100 hours on her lens, the DA-30mkII considerably less on its heads, as it served solely as a slave deck for scattered cloning. Each unit was purchased new about 16 months ago. Not once has either been even the slightest bit problematic--not one error to blame on either machine. Both units were meticulously maintained in a low-humidity, smoke-free environment and are in pristine condition intrinsically and extrinsically. Both units are supplied with all things originally included--literature and accessories, packaged in the original box with the original packing materials respective to each. I paid $1099 for the DA-30mkII; $1199 for the CR300; close to $2300 USD total. Ideally, I'd like to see a 65 to 70 percent return of that sum for the pair. Keeping the two bundled would ease shipping a bit, but I would gladly separate them if a situation so warrants. I have about 30 total digital pictures, taken of almost every conceivable face of each unit, available to e-mail to those expressing interest. I will gladly entertain all serious offers. Inquiries are encouraged.
