I have 7 DAT masters (Vancouver, Calgary x 2, Toronto x 2, Montreal x 2) to trade, along with most of the current Elevation shows. I used M1 and DSM's for the first 3 shows, and M1 and OKM's for the last 4 shows. Email me if interested, Vinesh ------------------------------ From: "ev" Subject: ISO XLR switcher Reply-To: "ev" Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2001 18:42:36 -0400 I have one pair of long AES/EBU cables that I run to my 2 computers *from* my DAT decks (for input) and *to* my DA-1000 (for playback). It's difficult to get to the back of the computers as my digital soundcards' breakout XLR cables are very short. So it's a big hassle to change into which card the long AES/EBU cables are plugged. Anyone know of an inexpensive switching box that allows you to switch between 2 inputs/outputs. Or one that has 2 such switches so that I don't have to buy 2? peace, further... e ------------------------------ From: "Jeff Kushmerek" Subject: Extra Dats Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2001 19:22:58 -0400 Hi all, I have some extra DAT's available for B&P or cost of DAT's. http://people.ne.mediaone.net/jrkoosh/extra.htm Feel free to ask questions :) jk ------------------------------ From: Steve Gilbert Subject: Re: taping policy: Fleet Boston Pavillion, Lucinda Williams & Cowboy Reply-to: gilbert@cs.utk.edu Date: Wed, 06 Jun 2001 20:13:36 -0400 > Anyone out there know what the individual taping policies are for Lucinda > Williams and/or The Cowboy Junkies? Also, how is Fleet Boston Pavillion > security in regard to searching bags? Ethan, Don't know anything about Lucinda, but the Cowboy Junkies are very pro-taping. They will give free passes to tapers who make arrangements with them beforehand, allow FOB taping, and encourage tape trading. No board access (there are usually instruments that aren't mic'ed, so it wouldn't sound that great, anyway), and no video, but audience taping is totally cool. It may be venue-dependent, and I don't know anything about that venue, but if anyone hassles you, ask to speak to their tour manager...Mike something or another. Also, they appreciate it if you send the band a copy of your tape afterwards for their archives. If you tape, be sure to stick around after the show to talk to Margo and let her know how much we appreciate the taping privelege. She is a very, very cool lady. Good luck, and if you get a tape, I want to trade :-) Steve Gilbert gilbert@cs.utk.edu ------------------------------ From: Jeff Tom Subject: Vox Fest vs. Love Fest (need help) Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2001 17:42:52 -0700 (PDT) posting for a friend... Please reply to StStephen@Mindless.com RE: MGrape 4 EPrunes On 6/16 I will be recording the Electric Prunes at the Vox Fest in Riverside. I am now unable to attend and record any of the acts scheduled for the Love Fest here in San Diego on that same day. Is there anyone out there who is planning to attend and record any of the acts at the Love Fest. I would happily swap the Elecric Prunes for that and have LOTS to offer from an eclectic live audio/video collection. The following acts are appearing at the Love Fest: (all i really *need* is the MGrape, but more welcome) Jefferson Starship The Original Moby Grape Iron Butterfly Strawberry Alarm Clock Big Brother and the Holding Company Country Joe McDonald Please reply to StStephen@Mindless.com Additionally, I am looking to trade for ANY HQ recording from the recent David Byrne tour. I currently use SpoundPro Premium Binaural mics > D100. I would need mics that I can use in _stealth_ situations, since the majority of bands/artists that I tape do not allow taping. So far, I have been looking at either DPA 4061(CoreSound HEB's) and MBHO 603a/KA200N. I like the DPA's because they are cheaper, I have heard some good tapes made by these mics, and they are Binaural and that is what I have been using therefore I would be more comfortable with them. I have heard good things about the MBHO mics, but I only have one DAT clone recorded with them(and it does not sound that great). I would be interested in hearing from people who have used them. Has anyone used the MBHO 603a with the KN100DK omni-directional capsules in a _stealth_ situation, I would just be more comfortable with omni-directional mics. I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions. Also, would the Denecke AD-20/Zefiro InBox make a significant difference with either of these mics, recording with a D100/M1. It was captured from sec 12, row, 13, seat 19 w/ Schoeps mk4(110 deg)->Reutelhuber Box->SBM-1(24 bit adc mod.) @44.1 kHz. I am curious to compare my tapes w/ some tapes from up front if they exist. I thought my spot was pretty good...considering the pa was practically on the ceiling. These tapes are ok, but I can imagine better. I have seen several people post to the list looking for shows from this tour, so hit me if you would like a copy. I will take 2 maybe 3 B&Ps for people who will help get these in the hands of the needy. Also taping 6/8 and 6/9(thanks Team Forbath!!) There were no searches at the door, security was very mellow...I felt like I could have pulled off a stand, but that would have been pushing it...only if I wasn't on the aisle... Subject: ISO Cheap Mics For My New DA-P1 Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 07:18:54 -0700 (PDT) I am a low budget kinda guy....a working man who doesn't have a whole lot of money to spend. Recently I stole a DA-P1 for $425. Now I need to find a good set of mics for it. Also, I could use a good mic stand with some decent height to it. -----Again, I do not have the financial backing of a Donald Trump. I still have my stealth mics, and a Sony stereo mic for the mini-disc, but to try to use that on the Tascam would just be silly. Another thing I'd like to pick up cheap is a second battery for the DA-P1. The 2 hour recording time scares the heck outta me! Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 11:38:12 -0400 Not just drugs. Here in Florida, we've got cops along the panhandle and the Keys stopping pickups towing bass boats looking for contraband lobsters and over the limit fish. They seize the truck if they find anything. These small town cop departments have a lot of very fancy equipment now, due to those forfeitures. I think that they can seize just about anything they want now and we are powerless to prevent it. This is no longer the America of our forefathers. m =====Original Message===== From: Warren Melnick [mailto:warren.melnick@astata.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 06, 2001 9:55 AM To: 'Otto, Michael'; 'DAT Heads - to List (E-mail)' Subject: RE: [dmb-tapers2000] Recording Laws, Anyone Know Them? Because of the way the civil porfeiture laws are written, that's why. There are specific laws in place to allow confiscation in the event of drugs. Do those laws exist for recording equipment? Here in NY the law is pretty fair.
