For example, TDK manufactured disks are good but TDK labeled riteks are shit. You should look at the list of labels used by certain manufacturers to make sure that you don't just blindly grab poor quality media by mistake. Also, as I mentioned before, there may be very good media that is not listed on the site. And newer brands may not have been tested yet. michael ------------------------------ From: "Gary Davis" Subject: Better shorten utility? I've always understood coax to be the preferred digital connection especially for field use. It it as necessary for home use? In particular I want to be able to play a cdr on a CD/DVD player and record it on my Tascam cd-rw700. The cable will only be about 1.5 feet long. The dvd player I'm considering buying plays cdr's and cdrw's but it only has a optical out. Unfortunately it didn't come with the BP-P20 nicad rechargeables. Are these still available? Does anyone make a battery for the DA-P20 that will last longer than 2 hours? Thanks in advance for the help. DAVE ------------------------------ >> As far As I can tell, the dual battery for these and those like it is no longer available for about 5 years. Deck draws about .5 amp from +5.6-+9 volts and about half that of a similar - voltage supply; a DUAL battery system. The Original batteries were easy to damage as the charger had to be manually disconnected in 6-8 hours to not burn-up the battery. If you have the (also no longer available) AC adapter, then a dual battery system with 35 hours of run time can be made using 12 flashlight cells as described on my site as the 'CD' DAT battery system at: http://www.sonicstudios.com/batsys98.htm . The power cord is separated with a connector system that also connects to the external battery system when needed. Sonic Studios has supplied quite a few of these over the past 10 years for those who desire long running time with DA-7, DA-P20, and DTR-100P decks. Date: 16 Jun 2001 14:56:10 +0100 Hello, Last time I asked: What place in the Netherlands can I bring my D100 to for a regular check up? I.e. retension, head alignment, etc, etc? The problem with the deck is that it works fine except for gaps in the audio; i.e.: it's just like the recorder stopped for a (fraction of a) second and then continued recording. There's audio missing although it's a continuous stream. What could be the cause of this problem? If you have any ideas, please let me know. I have exhausted all attempts to fix this problem myself and now I am hoping that someone on this list can help me find a solution. Some background: Back over Easter weekend, I was hit w/ the "Badtrans" virus and after receiving some seriously bad karma from a few folks and removing McAfee and installing Norton Anti-Virus, as well as reinstalling Windows '98..... I was up and limping..... During the start up process I was getting several error messages. I have been able to make all the needed repairs, but one which has something to do w/ my soundcard. Well, actually I have 2 problems, but both may stem from the same root problem...... Maybe someone can help me w/ that too.... I have a TEAC 532S Reader and a Yamaha CRW 4416S Burner. I am not able to burn discs either. ( problem #2) At first, I could not burn discs at all. Then I had a brief time when I was able to burn discs. After that brief time, the source disc would hang up in the reader. The only way to get it out is to reboot. The green light only lights up and flashes when I open the reader, but then the green light goes off after the door opens and closes. But like I say, if I put a disc in the reader to burn, it will not open. I have a Turtle Beach Pinnacle soundcard. During the startup process, I get a solid blue screen w/ a message in white letters that says, "The memory resource is occupied by something else. Check for a memory manager in CONFIG.SYS" Press any key to continue.... AND in a white framed box above this statement it has: TBS Pinnacle: PINDSP.VXD I have been in the Device Manager and tried everything that I can think of.... Can anyone help me? Anyone that sent me B&P's: all DATs have gone out. All CD-R B&P's were done by my friend Cameron to help me out. So everyone should have their stuff or get it soon. Also, I was a branch in the Reconstructed Capitol Theatre, 11-6&8-70 CD Tree which was initiated some time back. I have not heard from my leaves. I am hoping that some restructuring can take place so that they can get their discs. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanx!
