You can get these at REI, or other travel type stores. The money pouch goes around your waist, and you can get it to sit at crotch level. I has room for my mics, MD, and battery box. When I upgrade to an M1, it should fit in there no problem too. So with baggy pants, you can easily get your rig into full pat down shows. I don't think you will every be searched at groin level. In which case, you can sue for the cost of many rigs. :} I also heard some people use jock straps. Of course it depends on how big your rig is. :} Someone told me there girlfriend smuggled in his rig in her bra. Depends on cup size though. :} Later, Frank Wong __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! This is not always true. The best place is usually where you can pick up sound from the on-stage amps / monitors. A typical sound chain is instrument > amp > monitor > microphone > mixer > amp > PA so picking up what the musicians are hearing seems the best bet. There are high capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries readily available which will drive an SBM-1 for hours. I use MAHA 1550mAH AA's and regularly get 4 hours of run time in my SBM-1. I bought my rechargeables last summer, and now there are 1700 and even 1800mAH cells available. I spent $35 on a combo consisting of an intelligent charger, 4 AA cells, and a cigarette lighter adapter for recharging during road trips. Have since bought additional cells for my D8 and the whole thing has more than paid for itself in savings from throwing away alkalines. Look here if interested: http://thomas-distributing.com/index.htm I have no affiliation with these folks just am a satisfied customer and have turned several friends on to them as well. Loaded it up with "Ultra" batteries... guess what, they barely lasted 4 hours powering my MP-2 / SBM-1 / TCD-D8 rig! What a scam! Am sticking to 6V SLA in future. Have two, one is a small 4AH for short recordings and the other is a larger and heavier 12 AH for longer runs. We have spent literally hours and hours transferring and editing these appearances to remove any station ID's and random banter. These recordings are seperated by band/artist, or if some association between artists exists we have tried to keep these together. Not a peep from Larry Gross on any of them and we have cut out any Bob or Julie songs that seem to have no relationship to the artist appearing. If you look through the archives, you'll find my (somewhat subjective) test of these against the Neumann KM-184. My subjective ear could not discern between the two in the small battery of tests that myself and the Guitar Center guy through at them. That and the low price compared to the KM-184's convinced me to give them a try. I've only recorded a few shows with them, but the results are good (again, to my subjective ear) and I hope to be able to put these up against some 184's (and possibly others) on the same stand and get a good comparison. For Phantom, I use a Denecke PS-2 (about $150) with 9.6 v NiMH batteries. One of these batteries will last me about 3 hours. The Denecke provides a full 48V of phantom without the need for external power. -- Wayne D.
