I'd like to get $230 for this pair of mics, but I'll take offers. I also have a Peavy PS2C Dual Phantom Powering Supply that supposedly lasts on a single 9v battery for a LONG time. I would like to get $40 for this, but again I will take offers. All items seem to be in good, working condition. It would be great to get a buyer for both these items. These seem like decent stealth-able mics and I've heard tapes from them and they sound pretty good for the price. In a week or so I will be looking at putting these up on ebay if I don't get any buyers. Erm, I thought we've been talking about archiving shows as data files (e.g. lossless-compressed .shn, etc) on data discs, not as audio tracks on music discs. I do use EAC for DAE, and I certainly agree that "high-speed ripping" is a sucker's game. Once I have a "known good" version of a show, I compress and archive the sound files onto data-format discs, where they are better protected and I can access them as ordinary CD-ROM files, avoiding DAE altogether. An added bonus is that I can store more music in a compressed format on a data disc than uncompressed on an audio disc (typically 40-50% more). Plus, higher speed read access of these ISO-format discs is safe because (a) the CD-ROM drive detects and corrects errors before the OS even sees the data and (b) the sound compression software I use (Monkey's Audio) performs its own CRC checks. I make audio discs to listen to but think that format should be avoided for "archiving" if at all possible; it's better to eliminate DAE and preserve the music in a _reliable_ digital format. I hope the original poster wasn't asking about archiving to audio discs; if so, please reconsider! -Michael ------------------------------ From: Tyler Bradford Subject: Fugazi Current tour - Stands allowed? There is an electronics store here in Eugen which sells the same 6V and 12V batteries for about twenty dollars. And they have other sizes and shapes as well as the ecocharge shape. Some have greater life and others are identical to the ecocharge. I was sent a 6V cable for my 6V ecocharge from Marc a few years ago and 6V is just fine for my M1. If it can take it, it is way better to be to high than to low. These 6V and 12V batteries are not wired with the handy 4pin like ecocharge but they can be wired easily. I have not checked on the charger prices but I am sure they are way cheap too. These batteries are the exact same dimention as the ecocharges except they are shorter in height because they only have a positive and negative tab on either side instead of the 4 pin connectors on top. I can find the name of the battery company if anyone is interested. feel freeee to email;) david In a message dated 7/2/2001 6:12:42 PM Pacific Daylight Time, DAT-heads-Request@datheads.phish.net writes: << From: Random Gnome Generator Subject: M1 battery summary Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2001 18:11:14 -0700 (PDT) Well, I promised to post a summary of M1 battery suggestions, so here it is. There don't appear to be any "smart chargers" out there for 4.5v, or if there are, I was unable to get info on them. I ended up using a D cell battery sled with excellent results. It's pretty portable and stealthable, so I recommend going this route. Here's the url again: http://members.tripod.com/~groovin/battery.html I'd estimate the hours as approximately 20 per 3 D cells. Very impressive. Thanks for all the suggestions and for letting me know this has been tested with good results. Thanks, Charlie, for the great instructions. I record rock-pop, hard rock concerts basically at large venues = (national auditorium) and also small venues (hard rock live). I made a recording test this weekend on an open air basis wih a local = rock group 50 person gig. I noticed that recording without bass roll off, the sound was like = turning on the "megabass" option on certain equipments like a portable = MD. Its a must to record with bass roll off even if it sounds better without = it? Also the instruction manual says that: when recording music, I shall do = it with the LINE IN but this doesnt work with the M1 since the signal = was almost zero. Is this ok? Finally..... I record on a stealth basis, so I must use the AGC mode, Does this affect the recording? =20 Other settinqs: A3 with 20db switch on (not on the M1), etc.. =20 Any help appreciated=20 ed :-) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I posted that to connect a D100 to a coax chain one would need a coax to 7 pin cable, as the chain runs down the coax. The guy who first showed me his cable said that any unit along the chain can die, and the signal would still get through. (except presumeably the lead deck) But I've been told that a dead deck will stop the downstream signal. But I can't see why. The coax --> 7 pin cable is input only, and so each deck only "leeches" off the signal. Or do I have the wrong idea, and each DAT along the chain needs a 7pin to Coax I/O Y cable like the one made by core sound? Sorry to pester you all, but I'm still trying to get a grasp of the digital transfers. -jas ------------------------------ From: "Andy Liu" Subject: FREE Built To Spill 6-29-01 CDs!
