I will be offing somebody a ticket for all 4 nights and DAT Blanks to cover this event. its a shot somebody has time, equipment and nothing better to do. Neurot Recordings is pleased to announce the first installment of the Neurot Sound Series, a performance series dedicated to the spirit of sound. Beyond The Pale brings together a diverse group of original, innovative, independent musicians and bands handpicked by the members of Neurosis. Fourteen bands are set to perform over four nights, August 16th-19th, at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, CA. Beyond The Pale serves as an event to unite inspired artists across the boundaries of genre commonly described by the independent music community, in which all of the bands are deeply rooted. "I look forward to performing my songs in an atmosphere provided by my friends Neurosis because to me they represent a true source of self-knowledge and strength." explains Michael Gira (Angels of Light/Swans), who will headline the opening night of the festival. "Not only in the music they make, but in the choices they've made in how it's disseminated and received - now completely outside the normal infrastructure of the music industry." "Your average idiot describes music in superficial, categorical terms -- fast, slow, loud, quiet, boring, spooky... blah blah blah -- as though these are the only things that matter. I am excited that someone has constructed a bill that makes it obvious that this is a window-dressing of irrelevancies, and that music can be grand and moving without being tied to a specific style or description. Shellac of North America is proud to appear in this company," asserts Steve Albini. Beyond The Pale culls musicians from all over the world - some local to San Francisco (Tarentel, Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Amber Asylum, Oxbow), others from across the US (Shellac, Isis, Thrones) and some from abroad - the festival will also mark the first US appearance by Zoviet France in 10 years, and Zeni Geva's first major US performance in five years. The opening night of the festival will feature special performances by M. Gira (Angels of Light/Swans), Amber Asylum, Steve Von Till and Scott Kelly. Michael Gira will perform songs from both Angels of Light albums, as well as some brand new material and (possibly) Swans material. Gira will be accompanied by Larry Mullins and Dana Schechter, two members of Angels of Light. Steve Von Till (Neurosis singer/guitarist) will perform songs from his debut album, As The Crow Flies. Scott Kelly (Neurosis singer/guitarist) will open the festival with material from his debut solo release, Spirit Bound Flesh, scheduled for release on Neurot Recordings on August 7th. For more information about each of the artists involved in Beyond The Pale, please visit neurotrecordings.com/festival. Beyond The Pale is sponsored in part by Epitonic.com, Relapse Records/Release Entertainment, Hydrahead Records, Juxtapoz Magazine, and Aquarius Records. Tickets will be $15 per night, with a very limited number of 4-night passes made available for $50 each. Tickets go on sale June 24th at 10 a.m. PST via the Great American Music Hall box office (musichallsf.com), ticketweb.com and tickets.com. I am looking to trade for other CJ shows, either from this tour or previous tours (also, ALWAYS looking for Tori Amos DATs). Kalamazoo sounds the best of the three because the crowd was much quieter, it was a theatre show instead of a club show. All three taped with the following rig: MBHO 603a/KA200N (NOS) > AudioMagic Presto II cables > Lunatec V2 > DA-P1 Cleveland was just FOB about 15 feet left of center, Royal Oak was just FOB about 20 feet right of center, Kalamazoo was just behind the board center. Please contact me with any trade offers. These are not transferred to CDR yet, so I would prefer DAT trades at this time. ~Robert -- sNEAK PRODUCTIONS Home Page: http://www.ameritech.net/users/roekbarnet/sneak.html ------------------------------ From: richard turnure Subject: u2, 06/17/01 Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 05:14:02 -0700 (PDT) U2, 06/17/01...not really a fan, but went to the show, so no song list or indexing, audience A- or B+, PCMM1 and DPA-4061's, DAT only, second floor box tier...would like reggae, miles davis, ozu, or dead in exchange __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2001 23:31:19 -0700 So since I flubbed my first attempt...thought maybe I'd try Doughty at G.A.M.H. He's on record on his website as permitting taping; how will G.A.M.H. affect this? Will/do they know? Never been there before; Hmm..."No cameras, flashes or recording devices are allowed." CYA, I'm sure.... ------------------------------ From: "Wayne Ellis" Subject: tascam da30mkII problem Reply-To: Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2001 14:55:31 +0100 all, I've recently bought an ex-demo Tascam here in the UK, the machine had alledgedly never been powered up before so was unchecked. When playing any DAT in my collection there was either no sound at all coming from the tape or bursty sound covered in digi-noise. After a while the deck will stall with error code 02, indicating there is motor trouble. I've found that just moving the jog dile on the front will get sound out from the tape when it is otherwise mute - diginoise and speed is a problem but does this mean anything to anybody - other than its 'unwell' ? Its been to a repair guy once who said it was 'dirty heads', its now back for the second time. The tapes all play fine on a Sony DTC1000, I've also unpacked tapes on this machine just in case they were too tight and could give the error message I was seeing - it made no difference. thanks for any info Wayne ------------------------------ From: Arnie Stodolsky Subject: ISO: Allman Brothers Band 6-19-01 Poughkeepsie Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2001 08:25:51 -0700 Hi, Looking for the Allman show from the Mid Hudson Valley, Poughkeepsie, NY from June 19, 2001 on dat or cdr.
