Is there a way to insert track id's on a pre recorded dat tape that my standalone burner (HHb 850) will be able to recognize on autotrack. For the life of me I cant figure it out after experimenting and reading the manuel.. I guess it can only be down while mastering the DAT? I hate placing the track id's on the CD-R on the fly, Im not always so quick on the trigger. Thanks for the bandwith, Ryan ------------------------------ From: Tom and Meg Scholl Subject: Recording SCI Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 21:11:39 -0400 Greetings, Can someone please give me the facts regarding current audience recording for SCI. Where have the taping sections been located? Where should I anticipate taping from? Thanks, Tom ------------------------------ From: Martin Amdur Subject: Re: Sony TCD-D10 ProII patching question Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 21:05:58 -0400 How about using a device that actually changes the format like the Midiman CRO3. Mine outputs to coax spdif and optical and Aes simultaniously! It will input from any one of the above at a time. I comes with wall wart power only but could easily run on an external 9V batter to the power in plug. I bought mine on ebay for $160. I belive they sell new for $350 at places that cater to us. (datheads) I'm positive this will solve your problem. Martin From: "acffhmorST" Subject: Re: Sony TCD-D10 ProII patching question Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 15:42:25 +0500 (CDT) There is a different cable than the one which is included with the proII, it's a 12-pin to S/PDIF cable. I just looked at mine, it doesn't have a part number on it, but came in a plastic bag with the number (which I saved). . . I am on tour right now but can get the part number later this week for you- I purchased my cable from the oades, www.oade.com about 5 years ago and I think it cost me $140. It's a Sony, so it's the genuine S/PDIF output for the D-10, necessary if you plan to go into consumer-digital equipment, or transfer index marks (track points). . . I am surprised that your connection even gave you a signal at all. .. I think AES and SPDIF have different voltage requirements, as well as a few bits which have different functions, like the copy prohibit bit. . . this has been discussed at length, and I didn't pay much attention, check the archives to see if there's any deck which might be able to ignore the copy prohibit bit and read the AES signal with its S/PDIF connector... I know the Panasonic SV-3800 will allow you to specify connector separately from the code, but if you had a 3800 you could just go in and out using AES anyhow. . . you'll probably have to buy the cable. . . good luck and keep up posted! -tom =--==--=-=-=-==--==-=-=--=-=-=-==-=--=-==-=--==--=-=-=-=-=-==-=- Hey now, Just recently bought a new TCD-D10ProII.I was taping the other night in Boston and tried to give both a Casio DAR-100 and Sony PCM-M1 a digital patch.Neither would accept the signal. The D10ProII was lead deck, and I was using the supplied sony 12pin to AES-EBU(in and out) digital cable,to the standard adapter(aes-ebu to spdif). The Casio was receiving signal, but it was giving copy prohibit, and wouldnt record.I tried giving signal to a PCM-M1 and it was getting no signal at all. ------------------------------ From: Tom McGee Subject: Re: 24/96 and coax bandwidth Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 21:26:02 -0400 -- AES/EBU cable is 110 ohms S/PDIF coaxial cable is 75 ohms TOSLINK is plastic fiber (distance limited to something like 4 meters) Glass fiber can make much longer runs. The actual bandwidth you get depends on the quality of the cable, quality of the connectors, and quality of the soldering job. I don't know what the A2DK is outputing -- from your description, the signal is being separated internally. S/PDIF and AES/EBU are inherently 2 channel formats and both should be able to provide 24/96 with decent quality cable. From: Chris Bozzelli So I'm wondering, out of curiosity- can a reliable 24/96 stereo signal be sent on a single high-quality coax? Thus, I'm missing two and a half songs at the end of the rehearsal (Stay, Jean Genie and Modern Love). Does anybody have the whole rehearsal on a 90m DAT, or two CDrs? I'd like to get the complete set in the same generation if possible: SB->master reel->PCM->DAT, as the DAT version sounds far better than the various boot versions. I have the requisite several thousand hours on DAT and CDr to trade. Thanks for your help! Pax, Sean ------------------------------ From: "Wayne D. They were only letting taper-ticket holders into this section, but they were allowing taping from anywhere in the venue (Riverport Aphitheater w/WSP). There is no real taping per se at the entire On The Bricks series as it's run by local radio station 99x (read :no mic stands). You may see one or two stealth tapes come out of it, but as a whole the crowd is rowdy and rude. Don't expect any quality shows to come for anything in the series unless someone manages to sneak a board patch. If you're interested in Friday night's Cowboy Mouth performance, I can ask them if they taped it and see if I can get a copy. Email me off list about that. Remember the days of 10Base2 ethernet? That was 75-ohm cable running 10Mbps (~1MB/sec). Or, consider cable coming into your house for TV... 75 analog channels plus 800 digital channels. There's definitely bandwidth to spare on a coax line. The AD2K provides two separate SPDIF outputs, both of which have L/R channels in the stream. With the AD2K, however, you can configure either channel to be 16-bit or 24-bit with different modes of downsampling. Keith --- Keith D.
