Hello,
The legendary YoYoAGoGo festival is being held in Oly, WA this week. If
you recognize what it is, you're probably either going or wish you were. I
hear unsubstantiatedly that SBD patches are offered freely at this
event. Please contact me if you will be attending and taping any or all of
this festival this year.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Thanks for the replies. My problem was that the HHb was not recognizing the
start id's via AES/EBU connection. Tried it with a coax and voila. Why is it
the unit did not recoginize the information with the AES/EBU cable?

I know this is a knucklehead inquiry but bear with me please. Is there a way
to insert track id's on a pre recorded dat tape that my standalone burner
(HHb 850) will be able to recognize on autotrack.

Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 11:01:51 -0600
Well, I don't know how to do it on all DAT players, but I imagine it would
be similar to the process for doing it on a Tascam DA20 and Fostex D5.
First, make sure the erase tab on the DAT is slid over to allow writing on
the DAT. On the DAT player, press ID mode so that ID-Write shows on the
LED. Fast forward to where you want to put the ID. Hit play on the DAT
machine so it plays to where you want the ID, then hit ID. The sound will
stop and the tape will rewind 3 seconds, then write the ID. It takes about
10 seconds overall. Continue the process with the next ID. When you have
written all the IDs on the DAT, hit TOC renumber on the player. The machine
will rewind the DAT and write a table of contents for the DAT. Once this is
done, you have track IDs so you can skip between songs on the DAT, and a CD
burner will recognize the IDs and put them in the same place on the CD.
Cheers
Candace

Unfortunately not. :-( Last summer, Robert Fripp started a company called
Bootleg TV to record and sell all King Crimson concerts (and presumably
other bands eventually), starting with that summer's tour, but those plans
have apparently fizzled. The proposed prices were a lot higher than Pearl
Jam's series, though, which may have been part of the problem.

Man...they are so anti-taping. They will stop a show and point out tapers if
they think someone is taping, and have secuirty bust you big time. You
better be in super stealth mode if you wanna tape those guys...they smell
tapers,

King Crimson does not allow taping.
A brief search of the 'net will turn up many anti-taping manifestos
from the head Crim, Robert Fripp. His attitude towards taping is much
like the attitude of some American Indian tribes towards photography.
He feels that something is lost in the performance if the performance
is being taped, especially covertly by novices.
That said, The King Crimson Collectors Club is available at
www.disciplineglobalmobile.com with official releases every couple of
months. The Club has released some notorious bootlegs in much higher
fidelity, and has also released various "important" shows as well.
It's a wonderful thing, and I wish more artists would do the same.
After joining the Club, I stopped trading unofficial recordings from
King Crimson as the Club releases are much better sounding and come
with artwork and such. I strongly encourage folks to check it out.

King Crimson absolutely does NOT allow taping!
If you plan on taping take every precaution and go deep into stealth mode.
Robert Fripp has been very vocal in his anti-taping policy. So there will be
people looking out for tapers. BEWARE!
There is a popular story in Crimso history of a guy setting up a stand at a
show and Fripp stopping the show to ask that the taper not tape the show and
to please take down his stand. The guy left his stand up and kept on taping.
At the end of the show, Fripp walked out in the audience and collected the
tape from the taper.
With this in mind, several of my friends have successfully taped them (in
stealth mode). And ironically, when Fripp was putting the Epitaph Box Set
together he requested tapes from anyone that attended those early shows.
Good luck!

Fripp is VERY STRICT about NO RECORDING, he would stop the show,
I bet, if he saw you stealthing. . . he also allows NO SMOKING
WHATSOEVER at his shows.
so go stealth, and make sure not to show any cables or parts. .
good luck!!!

I'm looking for the remote control kit for a D7. I guess it's either
the RMT - D7 or the RM - D3K. Whats the difference between the two?
If anyone has a used one for sale drop me an email. Or if you know of
a place where I could buy a new one I'd appreciate the info. I want to
use
the thing to write program numbers on my DATs to make it easier to do tra=
nsfers
to my standalone cdr burner. One other question. Can you program
these things? Just wondering if you can have them play the first
few tracks and then have it stop the tape when the program is up or have
it
stop the tape when the cdr is nearing full?
Thanks in advance.

Subject: M1 Optical Cable Problem ???
Date: Wed, 18 Jul 2001 22:08:01 -0700 (PDT)
I am having a problem with getting a signal output
from my SONY M1 through the 7pin connector to the
optical TOS Link cable output.
I am using the SONY POC-DA12P
cable, which is supposed to work with the M1.
I connect the 7pin to the bottom of the M1.
The button on the cable is set to "digital"
I connect the OUT optical cable to the optical INPUT
of my Phillips CDR 200 Consumer CDRW Recorder.
I don't get any signal into the recorder.
I also tried the OUT optical cable into a Terrapin
CDRW recorder optical input, and I get some signal,
but it is intermittent, with gaps.
Also, I am unable to record from this signal.
Questions :
1. Do I have a bad cable ?
2. Is the cable not compatible with the 2 consumer
units I have, or is the output of the m1 thru the
optical cable not compatible with my consumer units.
3. Is it a problem with the M1 ?
4. Should I have gotten the CoAX digital cables
instead
of the optical ones ?
5. Other possibilities I haven't thought of ?
Thanks for any help, before I send the cable and/or M1
back.
Later,
Frank Wong
