Those 9V batteries are not good :( and I can put together a battery myself but it is still not rechargable. Any leads would be much appreciated. I had a friend record it for me as I was busy and it came out with bad static because of his stereo reception. Would love to get a copy. Much to trade, please contact me. Also, looking for other Bob Schneider / Lonelyland / Scabs recordings. Thanks, -Mike- ------------------------------ From: LiveAir995@aol.com Subject: Re: Deck/VX pocket Problem Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 17:34:24 EDT Jeremy - I am not sure I can help with your specific problem, but I am running the same rig and would love to trade as much info as possible on G4 laptop/VX Pocket issues... When you refer to "Deck" in your subject line, do you mean "Deck" software or the 302 "deck"? From your e-mail, I presume you mean the 302 - which leads me to ask which software you are trying to use with the VX Pocket I/O. I have Peak and Deck (most recent upgrades), plus ProTools Free - which works great with the new VX Pocket driver upgrade (did you download driver 2.7.3 yet?). I have had odd problems recording into Peak through the VX Pocket from a digital source (DAT machine SPDIF output) similar to your situation - what I remember having to do (it was while recording a live show off the board, using the DAT as the first deck in the chain) was to unplug the SPDIF cable, stop the DAT deck that was in pause/record state, and then re-plug the SPDIF and re-pause/record the DAT to get signal. I am not a "real engineer", so I have no idea what issues are at stake here - I know that different units all seem to give off different voltages (is it voltage or some other electrical term?) through their SPDIF lines - and that makes patching at shows kind of a ballet, knowing who has enough juice to send or recieve a signal between different brands of DAT machine - and now the VX Pocket is yet one more kink in the whole "who can send and recieve" equation... If anyone on this list has had any experience with these issues, I would love to hear any advice whatsoever that anyone may have... Also there is an e-mail list for laptop tapers at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/laptop-tapers plus there are lists for Peak and Deck users at: majordomo@shoko.calarts.edu - send an e-mail with "subscribe bias-users digest" or "subscribe deck-users digest" in the body of the e-mail.... And if anyone else here is trying to use a similar rig, I would love to hear from you on laptop-tapers...the more of us there are, the quicker we will all be up and flying doing great 24-bit recordings of the music we love... dave nolan Dave Nolan Audio 534 E. 11th St. #14 NYC NY 10009 (212) 614-0708 e-mail to: DaveNolanAudio@aol.com In a message dated 7/21/01 12:14:20 PM, DAT-heads-Request@datheads.phish.net writes: >Subject: Deck/VX pocket Problem >Reply-To: jmtrombley@sunflower.com >Date: Fri, 20 Jul 2001 22:36:40 -0500 > >Hi there, >I hope you're all doing well. Is it better to record low with the mic ATT switch at 0 db or higher at 20bd? And the manual says to record at the -12db level on the meter. Is this at the loudest part of the recording, or do I make sure ALL speaking and singing is above -12db?
