The InBox outputs a standard S/PDIF voltage level while the -D8 expects a much higher voltage. When we sell an InBox for use with -D8 we offer a detachable 7-pin cable option that provides a third output for the InBox and a special 7-pin cable. Alternately, you can use a Sony RK-DA10 cable (active) with the InBox's standard coax output and a miniplug adapter. I hope this helps! If the levels go above 0 the Inbox will overload but because it feeds the DAT deck digitally you don't flash over. Too far over and it cuts out.Good luck! Martin >>> << From: GuitarBud7@aol.com Subject: digi noise and drop outs Date: Sun, 29 Jul 2001 13:08:26 EDT Hey everyone I taped Bruce hornsby last night. It was a killer show and the tape sounds INCREDIBLE! the only problem is that when the 2 hour and 4 minute comes around, the tape is attacked by a short bit diginoise and then a drop out this happened an incredibly large amount of times until the end of the record (but the amount tends to deteriorate near the end of the tape) >> One possible cause is the digital playback level on the tape you used is too low for the Sony settings; this will cause the (Sony) decks to 'MUTE' the recording periodically. I had this happen (only once) with a D7 where the master tape dropped out sound for seconds all over the place ON EVERY SONY DAT DECK I tried this particular recording on; this has also happened to others on rare occasion. This same DAT TAPE PLAYED PERFECTLY (WITHOUT ERROR) on any other make of deck. Cause may be a particular tape formulation has inherent lower playback levels that can get too marginal with Sony standard deck settings. Another possible cause is the tape is not as 'flat' as need be and is not being written and/or read with maintaining the best head contact distances. Bottom line, try playing this tape on a pro style deck (likely not a Sony) and likely hear the whole tape play back without any problems! Date: Mon, 30 Jul 2001 20:39:05 -0700 Anybody know where I can order just the Male and Female 3 pin mini XLR cable ends? I have a Casio DA7 and am altering the AC adaptor cable so I can use it with my eco-charge or the AC wall wart. I do have a question though. I have made battery packs before, but only for a D8. D8's just have the positive and negative leads. The DA7 has a ground as well as the posi and neg. Where would this be wired in relation to the battery. Would it go to the negative as well, or would it just not be used for the connection to the battery. It's no problem with the connection to the wall wart, since it has a wire for the ground too. any help is appreciated. Stealthed from right middle, just inside the pavilion. For 48khz DAT, crowd noise during the first half of the show and way too many people standing on the seats knock it down to B quality. To make up for that, this show was also mastered on DV video....many thanks to those who gave me information regarding security for this venue, you know who you are. Please email to mallness@surfbest.net for your interest. Sorry I cannot trade this immediately, as I'm behind on my trading right now and trying to get caught up. Trade size will be limited until I do get caught up, and trades will be taken strictly in the order received. Expect a delay of a couple months. Additional thanks to those who are continuing to patiently wait for trades. I also have tix for the last show of the tour (Homdel NJ 8/12)....besides those who responded to previous posts, any other serious tapers on this tour? Thanks again for another posting... I am looking for people to cover all dates. I will be hitting up the Cali dates for sure. As far as I know...they are very cool with AUD taping, sometimes they allow SBD patches as well, and I know they are cool with video. So if you can cover any of these shows please e-mail me and let me know if you will be doing audio or video and what your set up is. Tickets are like 20 bucks with service fee...all shows can be bought on ticketmaster. No board patches and or professional cameras or videos are allowed though. So get your gear and go tape 'em! Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2001 07:42:36 -0700 (PDT) Thanks for all the help on the Mics question a few weeks ago. I now own a Sony PCM-M1, Sound Professionals AT933's with a battery box. and a Zoltrix Nightingale Pro 6 soundcard (on the way). I have a few questions... Is there a GOOD Faq for the M1? I have looked and found reviews of it/d100 when it first came out but am looking for something of a "best practices" kinda thing. (Like the light? Does it cause a buzz when you use it?, Best settings for louder arena shows? etc...) I have a battery box from Sound Pro with level adjustment inside. Should I have it all the way up? Any good idea to set the roll off for my first show? The Zoltrix has optical and coax input. I haven't ordered a cable yet and was wondering what anyone recommends...I won't be patching, so is optical better? Last question, my first show will be Depeche Mode in a few weeks and how long have their shows been running? Over 2 Hours? Date: Tue, 31 Jul 2001 11:33:44 -0700 (PDT) Hello again: Now need some advise in this topic: A friend of mine got as a "payment" a used Tascam DA-20mkII he wants to get rid of it. Im interested on it since here in Mexico City is virtually impossible to find one or if you can (new one), expect to pay the joke price of $1400 moreless. As far as I know regarding the unit: -The original owner had it stacked and ocasionally used it. -My friend send it to the repair service to had the front panel changed (had a scratch on the upper part of the metal plate) also was opened and cleaned with an air gun, since got quite an amount of dust. -No box, no instruction manual, no remote control. -He wants $7000 mexican pesos thats moreless $740 USD Is the price OK? what would be a "good price" What else shall I look for in to it?
