I do it all the time (one of my favorite ways to record a singing guitar player). it is litterally that simple. the real trick to M/S isn't in the playback, its in all that goes into then in initial recording. That only seems simple. In reality. it is very sublte and complex. bring it on down and we'll run it through my digital mixer. -paul ------------------------------ From: "Jordan Shapiro" Subject: Amazingly Reliable HP 2x Burner For Sale! Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2001 02:26:55 -0400 I've got an excellent HP 2x burner, the 8200i model with Easy CD Creator software included. It's a 2x2x6x and amazingly reliable as in I've never, ever had an underrun, not even while defragmenting my hard drive. Works nice as a second burner, what it was used for, in a system with a faster CDR. Make me an offer! =) j. | Jordan Shapiro | e: mrcool@fast.net | i:21338006 | | We are only healthy to the extent that our ideas are humane. - Vonnegut | | new! feeble tapelist: http://dmbnet.hypermart.net/tape.txt | ------------------------------ From: TGermano@webtv.net (Toby Germano) Subject: Roxy Grovel Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2001 00:01:52 -0700 (PDT) Dear fellow dat-heads, This past August 5, my lovely wife saw Roxy Music for the first time in Concord, CA. Of course someone has hacked there scheme and if you search through Yahoo, hotbot, or your favorite search engine you might be able to find a program I used to have call ".asx capture" which would allow you to "record" the streaming file to .asf (windows media file)format. This file could then be played off the hard drive or burned on to a CD for viewing through a computer. If you really wanted to get fancy you could then use a program like FlaskMPEG or certain versions of Windows Media Encoder to convert the file to and MPEG and then burn a Video CD on CD-RW media which could then be watched on some home DVD players. I'll take trades or B&P (the B has to be CDR's, though). My tape sounds very nice, however you can't hear Medeski very much. (His on-stage volume was quite low compared to Robert Randolph & Luther. Also, his amp was facing away from the audience, the way you would position a monitor.) DAT trades welcome (DATs only - no cdrs).... At this time, I am mainly seeking DATs of Charlie Hunter, 20th Congress, Soulive, Karl Denson, Topaz etc... I am especially interested in recordings done with mics on stage/lip of stage. I generally prefer these to dSBD or mics + SBD recordings......... Lastly, I prefer to trade with folks who keep track of source info as well as anomolies (glitches, dropouts etc.) on their tapes. I keep track of these, & I prefer to know about these things prior to doing a trade. thanks Paul _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ From: JHParkin@aol.com Subject: radiohead Cleveland Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2001 11:21:45 EDT I taped Radiohead last night in Cuyahugah falls(spelling?) for a freind with M1/shure slimeline binurals off of the house stack set up outside the pavillion. Radiohead info Reply-To: bondibox@bellsouth.net Date: Thu, 09 Aug 2001 12:14:02 -0400 Hey now, I walked away with a killer capture of last night's Radiohead show. I'm dying to seed it out, but I'm afraid that it will turn up the likes of the Nijmegen show, which started out in trade circles and is now easily found on EBAY. My question to the group: Is there a way I can watermark each recording with a different ID? This way if I ever see one for sale, I can track down which one of my traders was a pro. I remember when the BKJ tapes were discovered, and a lot of 1st gen tapes were created with blemishes to keep them from being sold. I don't want to ruin the music like that, I just want to know who the rat is. For the tapers out there, Total show time from start to finish was 1' 58" 30. The first set lasted 81 minutes. Security was _very_ lax, probably due to student workers from Kent State. and YES, before anyone has to ask ... http://personal.sdf.bellsouth.net/sdf/b/o/bondibox/radiohead.html -jas ------------------------------ From: "Larry J Abballe" Subject: Fillmore Closing Concerts Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2001 12:50:09 -0400 Hello All, Last October there was a 33 CDR set of the closing Fillmore concerts. (When I had my 60ES looked at by Sony, they gave me a number for hours of use, but wouldn't tell me how they did it.) Secondly, Sony recommends you clean the R300's heads every 10 hours of use. Doesn't that seem a bit excessive, considering Sony's DT-10CL cleaning cassette is a dry abrasive? Is there a general consensus on the optimal cleaning interval? Both tapes were made from nearly the exact same spot, Mezzanine 12 Row C, seats 6 & 7, which was in front of the right speakers. The sound quality is quite excellent, and they were recorded as loud as possible without distortion. The Paramount doesn't have the best acoustics for rock concerts though, so they suffer a little bit from that. I'm not ready to trade them right now, but will be in a few days. I welcome any trade offers, especially of any recent high quality Tool recordings. Although I use rubber grommets on the MP-2 volume knobs - that way they still stay put but if I have to tweak them (usually for L-R balance) then I don't have to rip up any gaff tape. Otherwise, I too use the MP-2 will everything switched off save the 15V phantom to drive my DPA 4060s. I use the master volume control on the SBM-1 and monitor off the TCD-D8.
