The BTAT is out of date, Los Lobos stopped giving out board patches a little over a year ago. Sadly, their soundman Louie Stetzel passed away last year as well. They do still allow audience recording. -Jeff Lester ------------------------------ From: "Kevin" Subject: DAT or DDS supplier in the UK? Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 00:29:07 +0100 Hi! Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2001 21:55:01 -0700 I had the pleasure of seeing String Cheese last weekend at Horning's Hideout and got a feed Saturday from a guy (Tim?) whose rig I'm trying to identify. He said the mics were MBHO 300B's or 400B's, whatever the "highest model is". And the A/D converter was a Graham Patton. I've done a little searching and can't absolutely figure out what these are... Anyone have a guess as to possible model numbers? Thanks, Jackson (the show sounds *great* by the way) ------------------------------ From: CAP12@webtv.net (Anthony. Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 11:36:01 -0400 I'd like to hear from someone who taped from the center about 20 rows back. I taped from about the 5th row 8/7 & 8th row 8/8 both center. The vocals seem to come & go as far as being muffled. Which leads me to believe that it was a PA problem opposed to being from me being too close. I would appreciate any opinions. Thanks, Steve ------------------------------ From: "Owen O'Neill" Subject: FS: SBM-1 Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 12:23:18 -0400 This unit is in excellent condition - not the modified type - just a straight original SBM-1. I purchased it used from Sonic Sense about 4 months ago when I bought my M-1 but have different needs at this point. It's been used by me 3-4 times, has original box but came with no owners manual. I paid $325 plus shipping and would like to get $300. That's a delivered price - I'll hand deliver to anyone in the NYC metro area or will pay shipping elsewhere. I'm not set up for PayPal or anything of the sort but will take a personal check provided it clears before I deliver the equipment. Thanks! Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 13:00:01 EDT Jonathan - I am a restoration engineer that does this tape baking every day of the week. We use a convection oven at 135 degrees farenheit for a period of 8 hours. This will dry out the tape sufficiently to give you that one-week window in which to play back your reels... Another thing you will want to pay attention to is to make sure the reels are metal, as plastic will warp...it can be a pain in the butt to transfer from plastic to metal reels when the tape formulation has broken down and become "sticky" - we use a reel-to-reel deck where you can thread the tape in a way that touches no stationary parts - only rollers. Brad allows taping for private noncommercial use only i.e. you are welcome to tape as long as you don't make money from the resulting recording. They do not allow soundboard access to the public. Mic stands and such are at the discretion of the club management i.e. if you manage to get in mic stands and can use them, more power to you. The position of Brad on taping is posted on the Brad homepage, which I don't have a URL for. If you have trouble bringing in equipment because the club believes that taping isn't allowed, you might be able to get assistance from a sound guy, but even better would be to print something out from the web and bring it with you. If the club believes the equipment would be a safety hazard (like mic stands), my guess is that you are SOL, though. I'll be at the 9/1 show, big bald guy... I'm not taping though as I don't have mics.
