Subject: Radiohead taping!
Date: Fri, 24 Aug 2001 13:14:51 +0200
Hi! For all that didn't catch this yet, Jonny from radiohead said something
very interesting on a yahoo chat:
***wonka333: Jonny, we have a fantastic community of RH people now. Alot of
bands have connected & nurtured their community by giving them more access
to their live music - since the live shows are so extraordinary, & it might
be the only time one us is able to see or hear you, why don't you allow us
to tape the shows, or in the alternative, why not release regular live
recordings of the shows? Wouldn't you kill for an inkspots bootleg?
***radiohead_jonny: Like a bootleg area of the show arena you mean ? I thank
that'd be great. Not sure about releasing them ourselves
***radiohead_jonny: wait till we have enough good recordings, I guess
now that would be great if radiohead would allow taping!!! I already see a
lot of Schoeps and Neumann sources from this tour, and quality would even
get better! Ah what more do we want? For the freaks:
http://hollywoodandvine.com/radiohead/rha_primary_frame.html?chat has the
full transcript, but it's very boring, stupid questions.
cheers

As general rule, anytime you receive email titled "family pictures" it's
best not to open it.

I just bought this card from a friend less than two weeks ago. I was going
to use it specifically to transfer DATs but the deal I had lined up to
purchase a DAT deck went south. So now I have no use for the card. Anyone
around here need one?
It is in perfect working order and comes with a copy of soundforge, breakout
cable and install disk.
I'm asking $335 obo. Don't want to make any money here, just want to get
the card in the hands of someone who can get some use out of it.
Thanks for the space,

A friend just bought a used D8, and was asking me (of all people!!) how he
could 'check it out'. Is there any way to test or otherwise check out a
portable, like the D8?? I know how to find error codes on my componenet
deck, but have never looked into anything like that on a Sony portable.
Also... is there anything to look for on an M1??
Thanks guys-- you all rule!!

Jeff Moris Tepper, former member of Captain Beefheart's Magic

is touring.
a) Anyone have any clue on his taping policy, if any?
b) I'd be willing to finance a ticket for any one of these shows

c) On the off chance that I'm able to make it to the Chicago

anybody have any feeling of how tight Riviera security is? I've
been there a couple times, but not with gear.

I was unsuccesful the last couple of shows I tried to tape- Merle Haggard and
Los Lobos -
I have an M1 and use a sony 7 pin to connect to a Zefiro inbox.
The tapes seemed to be recording fine, then periodically there would be a
gap, and then the start id thing would flash, and it would start recording
again.
After trying to troubleshoot it ( checking loose connections, using different
tape brands etc) it seems that the problem was that there was a little hair
in one of the 7 pin female holes on the M1.
Since I got the hair out, I haven't been able to duplicate the problem.I
uess I won't really know if it's solved tilI try to tape another show.
Just wondering if anyone has ever had a similar problem.
Thanks,
Kurt

I had a similar problem with an American-Digital 7-pin active cable.
They modify Sony cables and make them input *and* output. Apparently,
you must unsolder the shield around the guts of the connector end
in order to do whatever mod AD does. Mine apparently ended up with
a cold solder joint upon reassembly and it broke. The shield would
move around and hit some other solder trace or something and cause
drop-outs as you described. I resoldered the shield and I haven't
had a problem since.
