From: TaperB <TaperB@ziplip.com> Subject: W.A.S.P. UnHoly Terror tour recordings Reply-To: TaperB@ziplip.com Date: Mon, 3 Sep 2001 12:52:29 -0700 (PDT) Looking for anything good on DAT/CDR/VIDEO. I will have a couple masters from this tour available for trade soon. Have lots of other HQ heavy metal recordings, including some recent tours for trade. I had to laugh at the recent post about Blackie Lawless & Co. stopping the show in FL. last week. Since when has he been so uptight? If I remember correctly, it was a shitty quality bootleg demo that THEY circulated in 1983 that put them on the map in the first place. No wonder he can't get anybody to come to their shows anymore. Another case of greed at it's worst. Prick!

From: "Tom Morrison" <SoMnyRds@ziplink.net> Subject: Used DAT Tapes...for blank CDS? Reply-To: "Tom Morrison" <SoMnyRds@ziplink.net> Date: Mon, 3 Sep 2001 19:54:57 -0400 I am selling ~42 used DATS, that just happen to have some great music on them...mostly dead, but there are some other bands included...mostly low generation type of stuff (i.e.: S:Rm, & S:Rm,D,C,D type of geneology) of dats, from the past few years...some of these I just haven't listened to in a while You can buy a hundred blank 80minute TDK's at Costco for $36 ... and that is ~ what I am hoping I can get from these DATS... Also, I have some extra styuff I will be adding to the package (extra CDs that have been unclaimed...etc), and in past sales I have been very generous (and added MORE DATS than I said I was going to send...just because...:-).... I have a general list of what is ready to be shipped...but only will send you the list if you are *SERIOUS* about buying the entire Lot of them... email me at: SoMnyRds@ziplink.net for details!!! thanks t

From: acffhmorst <morst@itis.com> Subject: Re: ORTF Q, omni chat Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 08:51:37 -0500 thanks for the interesting insights. I hadn't considered the railroad train example, but when the source is far off to one side, the two mics would pick up an almost identical signal, huh!?! Regarding NOS: I didn't think there was to be a baffle between the mics, but when I record out-of-doors with near-coincident mics I have to use windscreens, and they take up enough space that I just assumed that was what the 30cm was for between capsules. How could one record in an x/y configuration with foam windscreens, just increase the vertical gap until the screens don't touch each other? I use ORTF for almost everything- my KM140's have a fixed 110 degree adaptor and it's a snap to set up. As long as I'm close enough I seem to get a nice stereo spread. thanks again for the tips! -tom On Monday, September 3, 2001, at 12:50 PM, Digestifier wrote: > > From: Tom McCreadie <mccreadi@simplex.nl> > Subject: Re: ORTF Q > Date: Mon, 03 Sep 2001 01:02:08 +0200 > > Tom on omni mics in #29: > > << I would think a range of 5-20 feet would be best for most > applications. > . . too close and you get the same sound, too far apart, and the ambient > sounds near one channel will have so little in common with the other > that > there may be a perception of a gulf between them, an unnaturally wide > stereo image....>> > > Tom, when you get round to running trials with the above widely spaced > array, you will soon discover all sorts of anomalies...unconvincing > image > which swims like a fish, huge hole in the middle etc. > > If you want some omni-food for thought, set your spaced omni's parallel > to > a tram- or railway track and make a recording of a clanking tram or > whistling train approaching from the left distance and receding into the > far right distance.
