I seem to remember seeing a post discussion about these batteries, but I
came across them at Circuit City today, and scratched my head. Have any of
you used them? And to what effect? Is the charger they sell with them
necessary, or can they be charged with the thingy that comes with any Sony
D100.
Second question: I just purchased the Zoltrix Nightingale Pro 6 and I need
a little help getting it set up appropriately to transfer DAT stuff... I
have heard that it's the cheapest non-resampling card out there. As a
former ZA2 user, and a current Midiman Delta Dio 2496 heavy user... how is
this card better? How can I know if a card is resampling my
signal? NOTE: I am not talking about sample rate conversion, but
resampling, i.e. 44.1K in>resample>44.1K written to the drive. I'm still
not clear on how this happens, if it does, and how cards like the ZA2 and
Zoltrix DON'T do it. Point me to a URL, whatever, thanks very much.

if anyone's interested in them please let me know -
all offers considered. includes the sth100 t-bar,
caps, bodies and 3.5m active cables.
i hope to be getting one of the dpa 402x series with a
little help from whatever the km140s go for.
the neumann km140s are great mics and have produced
some great tapes. however, i've decided to go
"bodyless" for the amount of stealthing i've been
doing these days.

Hey-
Before I forget this one.
Someone mentioned, this evening, that they were running a Zoltrix spdif
soundcard, but used Midiman DiO 2448 drivers.
They said that the chips are identical and when used fully digital
didn't resample.
They just liked the Midiman interface better.
Would this make for any funtional differences?
Is the CMI 8738 IC Chip "programmable" or is just all the interface?
If I use the clunkier Zoltrix interface, do I get the same effective
results?
Are the discrete components on the soundboards used in any way for
digital I/O ?
Thanks for any ideas/info that you might share.
Back for Set Two,
-Bob

Speaking of which, I'd be interested in opinions on the dpa 402x mics
vs. the "bodyless" Schoeps, for mostly stealth taping but occasional use
on a stand.

TOTALLY AWESOME!
Walked right up and bought it this morning:
Jane's Addiction 10/9/01 Gainesville, FL Row A Seat 10
To tell the truth, I was not expecting that at all.
Now, running a deck seems nearly impossible.
Is anybody else hitting this show... rollin?
Please contact me!
This is my first Jane's show since they played the Phantasy Theatre,
Cleveland in 1989.
I know Tool is playing the same night in Florida, so I hope that we won't be
spread too thin for this show.........

I am just wondering. Will this show sell out beforehand?
I have to be in Orlando the day before for an 8-hour certification test, and
I don't know if I will be able to make it to this show until the day of the
show.....
It's 4 hours North and Orlando is 2 hours South....
Any Carolina folks tuned in?

Damn it, it happened again. This time, it was the Gov't Mule show with
Chuck Leavell (smokin'). My D8 coughed up another blank dat master.
I used a new 90meter dat for the show. I was a little paranoid about the
last time this happened so I recorded the minute of crowd noise, rewound,
played and saw the meters bumping from the recorded crowd
noise. Comfortable that I had once again avoided 'that thing' I rewound
the tape and recorded a new minute of crowd noise before taping the
show. 3 hours later, when I hit stop, then try to eject the dat, the dat
hangs up in the slot (not ejecting from the sled). I reinserted, then
tried re-ejecting (without luck). I re-inserted then rewound the tape to
find it blank (with errors).
I recorded the Cowboy Junkies 2 nights ago without any problems, but this
has occurred twice during the last 7 shows that I taped.
Does anyone have any kind of similar experiences with their Sony D8? If
so, what can I do to make sure this never happens? Does the unit need to
be repaired?
Take Care,
Delano

about the 603?
I owned the 603a and also thought they were hungry mics. I didn't have
anything to compare at the time though. I also used a PS2 to power them,
and found that w/the best E2 energizer 9v, I could get 2 hours. The low
batt light would come on after about 90minutes, but power would continue to
flow good for another hour almost.

DSM 6s/L > PA-6LC3B (170) > D100 Complete
I was about 30 yards from the right stack and had an eyelevel head on
shot. Couldn't have been in a better place in that whole arena.
Listening to it a few times I'd rate it an even 9. Because it was in
a huge as arena of course it has a slight echo but really isn't very
bad. Just a few isolated screamers like every other tool show. This
recording is complete.
This is up for trade on DAT, Cdr, or SHN (prefered). Looking to
trade with other Tool tapers, no videos please.

Looking to see if there are any tapers from Spain on this list. Particularly if anyone is going to
tape this upcoming Silvania gig in Spain:
22.9.2001
Silvania + Orbital
San Sebastian
Plaza de toros "Illumbe"
Or if ANYONE has ANY live gigs by Silvania, please let me know. Much to trade. It seems a near
impossibility to find live material by Silvania (even though I know they've played a lot of gigs,
most in Spain, throughout the years).
all the best,

I just ordered this very fuse for my RMR-D3. It was $4 from Sony.
They seem to blow pretty easily from power surges and are pretty easy
to replace if you are handy with a soldering iron. If anyone wants
help with this, email me.

Been trying to find some Big Head Todd & Monsters DATs has proved
difficult. I wrote them via their website and here is their response.
They are now allowing audience taping. They ask that we do not bother
the sound man with board patches. They also do not ask for copies of
the shows, but ask us, the tapers, to spread the tapes far and wide.
They have a new lp out very soon, so please tape if you can. If you
have tapes, please get in touch!
