I'm selling both of the items mentioned above. The 4022's are a matched
pair and were purchased in March '01. The Apogee is in excellent condition.
Both of these items include all original boxes and manuals. make me an
offer if interested!
thanks

Subject: detecting resampling soundcards
Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2001 08:10:13 -0500
Hello dat-heads,
This is in response to Jonathan's request to know whether his soundcard
is resampling from the digital input or not. This subject comes up from
time to time, since about the time of the SB!live (I think). This is
therefore an attempt to develop a test.
What I proposing to do is to prepare a test tape with a 22kHz tone on
it. I am thinking that with a 44.1kHz recording you should be able to
detect if resampling has occurred with a 22kHz sine wave. A perfect
digital copy should give you an exact replica. A resampled signal would
more than likely be filtered with an anti-alias filter, or at least the
waveform should undergo some change due to the resampling algorithm.
Some of the technical people on the list might be able to help me out
here.
Any comments on the methodology? Specifically, is 22k a good tone to
use? Should I be using 21kHz, or 20kHz? I am thinking that it would be
good for the tone to be close to FS/2.
I am going to prepare a 22kHz tape for him. I am proposing that he
record both from the Midiman card, and from the Zoltrix card. I will use
WAVscript to strip the leading space from the recordings, then edit the
remaining audio down to exactly 15 seconds of samples. The resulting
files will be compared to the original. I will publish the steps at a
later time if anyone should wish to try this with another digital I/O
card.

I think the easiest way (and the way I've tested cards in the past)
is to take a wave sample (any sample) and record it to DAT via the
S/PDIF out, then dump it back to the computer through the S/PDIF in.
Pull them up in a wave editor to synchronize them (there's always
garbage or null data at the beginning) and chop them to the same size
(there's always lead-out nulls too) then MD5 the resulting wave files.
This requires a good wave editor that lets you zoom-in to single-sample
resolution, but this is a feature of most that I know of.

at Sony's Direct Response Center in Fort Myers, Florida? I have a DAT
repair issue that needs to be reviewed by a person in a position of
authority. TIA, Chet

sorry for the waste of bw. I've tried to sell these elsewhere and had no
luck. So... two tickets for friday night Greek (WSP).
face is $28.75 plus $6.75 ticketbastard charge. $70 for both. I'd like to
trade these for $50 worth of blank Sony DGP 60 and 90m.
http://www.masterpieceav.com/datmedia.htm has them for $1.99 each. so 22
blanks, that leaves $5 for shipping. email me if interested.
