Sound Professionals premium matched AT853 cardiod mics with alligator
clips, 2 interchangeable hypercardiod elements, the premium battery
module w\bass roll off, and the belt clip.
These are a great little set of mics, in mint condition. I've sold my
DAT deck, so I have little use for them now. They've been out of the
box literally only a few times.

This is for the Hot Tuna & Persuasions sets at Albany,
NY on 11/19/00. They were recorded w/ DPA 4023
mics. Both sets are on one Sony 60m DAT.
In return, I'd like a sealed Sony or Maxell 60m (or 90m)
DAT plus postage.
First to respond after the Digest hits my mailbox gets it
(unless you're willing to do B+P's for others, which I
would give preference to...in which case tell me how
many you're willing to make).

Curiosusly I had been thinking about this issue this last week when I had
to increase the levels of a 16bit tape which was recorded very low. I wanted
to prevent additional quantization noise from happening. Multiplying by a
factor of 2 is an immediate solution as the bits don't get altered,
but why not just multiply by any integer number?. No "rounding" will
take place in this case as well and I can't see why this is wrong.
Unfortunately, using cooledit for this task does not seem to work well.
If I multiply by, say 400% and then by 25% I don't get the same bits
as in the original file. What software should be used?

Hey heads -
I'm attempting to do an installation piece for a
collaborative art exhibition, and intended to put
a couple of mics outside and broadcast the world
into an interior space, but the people that own the
building say I can't breach the wall. So, I'm
wondering how I can accomplish that. I thought about
some contact mics on windows, but I'm not sure if
that would work. Does anyone have any ideas about
how to get sound from "outside" into "inside?" I'd
really appreciate any thoughts.

This is Round 3 of my Dats for CD blanks offer.
Since 1997 I have traded dats, primarily Grateful Dead. I am converting my
dat collection to cd. This is the 3rd batch. I will not break it up into
smaller batches so please don't ask. Round 3 goes to one person. If
someone wants to get a quick start in the GD dat world this is a great way
to do it.
I'll accept three (3) Taiyo Yuden blanks for each dat. This exchange is
well below current market prices for new dat blanks (as published at various
sites, including TTapes.) I will pay postage to ship the dats to you for
continental US only.
Dats are Maxell labeled, unlabeled, or Sony DDS. Some are 60m, some are
90m. All have printed j-cards with song lists, lineage, etc.. Lineage is
as it was provided to me at the time of trade. Caveat emptor, these are
great tapes, however, they may have the occasional anomaly. I acquired them
primarily through trades on BUDD and other credible sources...
The following 47 shows reside on 50 dats. Several shows are filler on
tapes. Several of the dats have filler
not listed in this posting. This in exchange for 150 cdr blanks.

I am sorry but I have what may be some relatively naive questions but I
would greatly appreciate any sage advice anyone can offer. Can anyone
recommend a good DAT repair place and a good CD burner repair place, whether
they may be the same place or different? I am in the Bay Area but if it's
better that I send it elsewhere I will do that.
The only problem with my burner is that I can't seem to get it to record off
an analog source and never have been able to since I bought it. I have
tried using various amplifiers and both the XLR and RCA inputs, without
getting any signal at all. Does it seem likely the analog recording
hardware could have been faulty when I bought the deck? I have a Marantz
CDR630 burner and a Panasonic SV-3800 DAT deck. Regarding the DAT, is it
true what some DAT repairpeople have told me that using 180-minute DAT tapes
can cause the tape to "shed" due to the heat of operation and gum up the
works of a DAT deck?
Finally, if anyone thinks it better I buy a new burner and/or DAT deck and
trash one or both, please let me know what you recommend I get. Apart from
the analog channel, I have had no problems with the burner, but my DAT deck
seems to go into the shop every time I turn around.

Hi!
I am still looking for someone to help me out taping in Seattle and Salt
Lake City. Tori Amos is embarking on her very first SOLO tour since 1994.
As an archivist of her work, I'm trying to ensure that every show on this
historic tour gets recorded on DAT. I've found tapers for every show but
the following two:
6-Nov Salt Lake City, UT Abravanal Hall
9-Nov Seattle, WA Paramount Theatre
I have already purchased tickets (orchestra) for both of these shows. I
will also be willing to cover other incidental expenses for a person who
is available to tape one of these shows.
Please note, Tori does not allow taping so you will have to tape stealth.

I realize how trivial tis is considering what's going
on in the world. But this is forum for such discussion
and I haven't seen much on it. I'm wondering what
everyone is thinking about stealthing and the
seriously upgraded security we will probably be seeing
in at least the short term future. Will every venue
have metal detectors and/or wands? A friend of mine
who doesn't tape saw Tool in Mansfield last weekend
and said there was no way I would have gotten past
security. I plan on seeing and attempting to tape some
U2 shows this fall and don't know what to expect. The
first of which is in Canada, where I REALLY don't know
what to expect. Has anyone attempted to tape any shows
in the last few days? Please share any info you might
have.
