People tend to read left to right and the arrows would tend to indicate signal flow. Most cheap, inexpensive or other wise consumer-oriented soundcard, ie. SOUNDBLASTER etc re-sample the signal whether it needs it or not as it goes thru the soundcard. That's why you want a good soundcard and that's usually why they cost allot-- they are NOT consumer but more PRO-sumer. Yes! SoundForge is good, so is CoolEdit2K, CDWin and many others. S/w is more preference as to what else you want in your s/w.
