I guess that implies an excellent A-D converter built = into the mixer, but that's even better. ------------------------------ From: "Thomas Avallone" Subject: U2 Tapers Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 21:19:53 +0000 I'm currently seeking anyone who will be recording U2 Elevation concerts on this 3rd, and final leg of the tour. I will be recording 10/15 & 10/16 in Chicago...And yes, I will be recording Garbage as well. Would love to swap shows for this final run. Very sorry to trouble the list. I am looking for a few artists on CD-R. Most specifically, I am interested in the Outlaws, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, and Blue Oyster Cult. If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it. Please send me your list, I have plenty to trade. Thanks! I did have analog tapes from the guy taping on DAT, but now I'm looking for this show on DAT or any Burning Bus on DAT or even CD. I don't remeber the tapers name except his first namewas Matt and he lived in Delaware at that time I believe. I know its a long shot but if anyone can help I've be grateful. It was a one set (two disc) show, so I shn'd the whole show as one file as an archive. While it was still on my hard drive someone wanted a DAT copy so I used shn plugin for winamp to play the shn and I recorded it to DAT through the digital output on my Win 98 with a Zoltrix NG. Worked like a charm. Actually digital out has not been a problem for me. That's all I use on my PC. I have an Audio Alchemy D/A that I run to my speakers. Now the speakers are the weak link :( Check here (thanks Jesse Lackey) for great hints (actually some are necessities) for setting up windows to do glitch-free multi-hour digital playback and record. http://www.celestialaudio.com/win95_info.htm Alan > From: "Bob Griesel" > Subject: RE: DAT > PC > DAT > Reply-To: > Date: Mon, 1 Oct 2001 18:43:10 -0700 > > Even though I have multiple DAT decks, I occasionally make a HD > DAT > copy for one reason or another. Peace Dan ------------------------------ From: acffhmorst Subject: Re: stealth mount skm140 Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2001 20:13:30 -0500 My solution for the KM 140 set is to take the c-shaped ORTF bar by itself and apply HEAVY DUTY velcro (comes in strips and is way stronger than regular velcro) on the side opposite the plastic clamps. This will stick to the inside top of your favorite hat, or you can make a metal support out of two thicknesses of soda can (tape the edges, they're sharp), bend it so that it's curved to the shape of your head, and velcro the metal to your hat so you don't suffer the dreaded "ORTF Droop". You will probably have to find a small nut and bolt to hold the ortf bar to the metal, there's a hole in the center of the ortf bar which seems ideal for this. Of COURSE you have to improvise. I have also heard that the 90 degree adaptor can be used, you switch one of the clips so that they're on the same side of the bar (they're normally on opposite sides so you can get coincidental placement of the capsules) and point the mic capsules outward at 90 degrees. I have never seen this mode in person so I'm only relaying my impression of that fix. I also found that the mics dig into my head unless I have windscreens on. I'd be stoked to find something which would absorb the corners of the capsules digging into my skull, but for now the windscreens are fine. By the way, you can't touch the hat at all, and should probably not move the cables while tape is running. As for attenuators, why not flip the inset -10dB pad switch on each KM100 body? That seems to keep me from overloading my Beyer MV100 preamp, which only has fixed gain settings of +20, +40, or +60dB. I noticed that the Beyer's overload lights flashed and stayed on solid at some loud shows, even though I always run at +20, resulting in a little distortion. With the mics padded it doesn't hit the overload lights much at all. The peak lights on the Beyer MV100 are set to flash at -6dB from clip for those of you playing along at home. . . Good luck, and please let us know what works out for you. -tom On Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at 03:50 PM, Digestifier wrote: > From: "scott charles" > Subject: stealth mount skm140 > Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 13:07:45 > anyone sucessfully stealth mount Neumann SKm140's? After a tape got mildly eaten by my deck the other day, it now refuses to play any tapes at all. No levels are present, no sound at all. When I try to record with it, it appears to be working. I see levels, tape moves, time goes by..etc. However, I cant play the tape to see if it is indeed working. Figures that this happens now. I have two shows to tape this week! I was thinking that I'd set up and record as normal. First chance I get, I'll pop the tape into someone else's working deck and see if there is anything on it. If so, then I guess I'm still taping and can send the deck out next week. If not, then I guess I pack it in. Any suggestions? I'm thinking the tangled DAT tape managed to miss-align the pins so now it doesn't transport, or even make contact w/the head. who knows. freakin DAT! Any recommendations on where I should send this in the north-east? I'm looking for fast turn around. I've got a bunch of taping ahead, and a deck would be good. Date: Wed, 03 Oct 2001 06:29:53 -0700 This is a message borrowed from the Tangerine Dream site regarding what was to be their upcoming US tour. It has been moved back a few months because of the events of September 11th. But rest assured, they promise they will still come :) Peace and prog, Brian ****************************************** From www.tangerinedream.de -- Tangerine Dream USA Tour postponed!!!! Unfortunately, Tangerine Dream's USA-Tour had to be postponed to mid January through early February. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, the band was faced with several problems that could not be solved within the short period of time left until the beginning of the tour - the most severe being that, due to heightened security measures and controls, the band would not have been able to obtain work permits in time. The tour routing and clubs should remain more or less as planned. We will post the new dates as soon as we have them confirmed - hopefully within the next few weeks. Please do not pay heed to rumors of the tour being cancelled - the dates have merely been postponed! ------------------------------ From: E Subject: radio city security Date: Wed, 3 Oct 2001 07:04:51 -0700 (PDT) Anyone go to STP at Radio City last nite? if so, what was the security like? -Ethan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
