From: "Mike Hooker" <mhooker@optonline.net> Subject: off topic-need sound card Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2001 14:55:36 -0400 hi, anyone want to trade a surplus ISA soundcard some cd-r's? i need one for work, we like to listen to interent radio once in a while. i had a SB card in there, but a wierd thing started happening. when we plug the line out jack into the reciever , it shuts doen the reciever and you have to re-power it to reset it. it isnt the cables, we pluged in a portable cd player and it worked fine. you can actually see a spark jump the jack when you plug the cable in. i have a PCI card, but cant use it because of a motherboard probelm i've had since day one, which causes conflicts. i hate to buy a ISA card, especially as its an experiment to see why the reciever flips out. i'm sure there are plenty old cards gathering dust somewhere. if anyone has other ideas why this is happening, i'm all ears. thanks for the bandwith, and as far as tax, i'm always open for trades, so check the list. thanks take at look at my music trading list http://www.oe-pages.com/ARTS/Ballet/mikehooker or if it doesnt work, use this: http://pages.zdnet.com/mikehooker/hookstradingpage have fun, Mike Hooker

From: "Jackson Gibbs" <gibbs@crater.net> Subject: RE: 24-bit/96kHz (painfully long) Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2001 15:45:29 -0700 > For those who wish to cast dispersions regarding dealer hype about 96k as > opposed to 48kHz, please ask yourself what any dealer of audio equipment > would benefit from having you like one over the other. Then, with The profit potential would come in getting the dat users to upgrade. I might be missing something, but that seems to me to be quite an incentive to retailers. -Jackson
From: james stidham <pthemonkeyd@yahoo.com> Subject: Nickelback and Days of the New Taped Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2001 18:01:16 -0700 (PDT) Hello all! Well, I recorded my first two shows not too long ago. I have the two bands above, Nickelback from 9/27/01 and Days Of the New from 9/29/01, on DAT ready to trade. I prefer DAT for DAT, but you can inquire about cdr if you wish. Days of the New were great - I was blown away! They did a cover of 'The End' by the Doors that was simply spectacular. Setup was: CSB>bass roll off>M1 dead center at the place. Recorded at The Bay, Chattanooga, TN peace, Travis __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? NEW from Yahoo! From: "Ian C." <mmphish@yahoo.com> Subject: DAT>HD problems???! Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2001 19:17:50 -0700 (PDT) I have been using a Waveterminal U2a USB device for transfering my DATs to my hard drive with Sound Forge 5.0 for cd burning. I have noticed that I will get random clicks from the transfer method. I have heard something about setting an offset when using a USB device for transfers. Anyone know anything about this?? Is there any software/program that will detect to see if my transfer was pure digital with no signal loss after I have recorded it???? Any other sugestions??? Thanks in advance, Ian __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? NEW from Yahoo! From: "steve babyak" <babyak@ptd.net> Subject: Radio Shack A/V Splitter Voltage?? Date: Mon, 8 Oct 2001 13:15:25 -0400 I recently picked up one of these to use as a digital coaxial splitter. It's actually called an A/V Distribution Amplifier so it requires power. I'm trying to find out the DC voltage this thing needs. I've seen several people with these around the taper's sections but never asked. There's no documention for DC voltage...just AC. The catalog number is 15-1103 and on the back it reads INPUT: 120VAC 60Hz 3.5W Max. It has one video input and 3 outputs and one analog input and 3 outputs (L/R). Thanks Steve
