This sounds very similar to the problem I am having, though
I am using the Roland UA-30 USB device and Cool Edit Pro.
I don't recall any mention about offsets, but I do remember
mentions of turning on DMA. But I don't know what DMA is
are how to turn it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running W98SE, if that matters.

Hi Everyone- I joined this list a month ago with the interest in finding
out about dat recording. I've gotten some good info so far and i'm ready
to make a purchase. I'm not that comfortable looking for all this stuff on
my own yet. So i'm hoping you people might be able to help me out.
I am looking to purchase a portable DAT recorder, cables, power supply,
some decent mics and anything else I might need. Here is what I want to do:
Mainly record my band at our practice space and gigs. We have minimal
equipment and no soundboard. I need an easy way to transfer the music to
computer and it seems like dat is the way to go.
I would also like the option of recording some shows.
Decent middle grade mics?
Mid range portable DAT recorder?
cables?
power supply?
If someone could point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful. I'm
not looking for top of the line as I'm not loaded with cash and I just want
a decent recording setup.
thanks in advance for any info.

Any DAT-heads make it out to the Blue Floyd show in Erie last night?
Sounds like there weren't any tapers around (which is a shame for a taper-
friendly band). If anyone did get a copy, please let me know.
Thanks.

This is for the Allman Brothers show at Hartford on 8/26/01.
It was recorded w/ DPA 4023 mics FOB just wide of the left
stack. It's on one Maxell 90m DAT.
In return, I'd like a sealed Sony or Maxell 90m DAT plus postage.
First to respond after the Digest hits my mailbox gets it
(unless you're willing to do B+P's for others, which I
would give preference to...in which case tell me how
many you're willing to make).

Not sure if anyone is familiar with her, but Aiko Shimada is a great artist from Seattle who came out with an album recently on Tzadik. I was going to tape her a few months ago but wasn't able to get to Seattle.
But in case any of you are interested, go ahead and tape her. I asked her via e-mail and she is definitely "taper friendly", as long as she gets a copy of the recording in return.

read that they were going to play Skydome's Jumpin' Jaks on 5-15-01 in
coventry. did anyone happen to record any of these? i'm aware of the
webcast of 2-14-01. in fact, i recorded it from wembleytv, but there
appears to be a couple of flaws, one of which is a four second gap in
"instinction"( i believe these flaws are inherent in the webcast itself--i
taped it twice and the flaws are in the same place ). if anyone taped these
or others from the audience ( i'm asuming there were other shows ), i'd
really like to somehow get a clone on dat. thanx,

Reply-to: gdavis@loop.com
Date: Tue, 9 Oct 2001 04:10:39 -0700
The DAT Store has just received the first shipment of Panasonic
stand-alone DVD recorders. These machines record video onto
blank DVD discs just as easily as stand-alone CD recorders make
CDs. The price is $994, and as a special for DAT-Heads I will
throw in a box of blank DVD-R discs (5 discs).
This unit can record 1,2,4, or 6 hours on a DVD-R which will play
back on most home DVD players. It can also record on re-writable
DVD-RAM discs. You can mix speeds on the same disc.
The DMR-E20 has 3 sets of S-Video/Video/Left & Right inputs, and
2 sets of outputs. There's also a digital output for playing Dolby
Digital sound from pre-recorded DVDs, but otherwise, no digital
inputs or outputs. There's also a standard RF input
(antenna/cable), TV tuner, and timer, making the DMR-E20 a true
VCR replacement.
Please write for more info...
thank you,

What do you get when you put together four first-class musicians with
resumes that include playing/recording with Sting, Steve Kimock, John
McLaughlin, Bela Fleck and Chick Corea? You get Garaj Mahal. This
amazing 4-piece band consists of Kai Eckhardt (bass), Fareed Haque
(guitars), Alan Hertz (drums), and Eric Levy (Hammond B3). Each member
of Garaj Mahal is a seasoned artist with reputations worthy of
individual praise. And together, they are receiving it. They have
captured the hearts of jam band lovers across the nation with their
ability to draw out serious "shut-up-and-listen" type grooves. But
their music doesn't stop there. Their unique blend of funk, jazz, R&B
and blues with a tasty world music flare makes any show with Garaj
Mahal something to see.

Fareed Haque: guitars
Alan Hertz: drums
Eric Levy: keyboards
