I'm a bit partial to Canare star-quad over Mogami, as it seems to deal
with abuse (like being rolled over by a piano) a bit better. Both are
good and it's hard to go wrong with either one.

taper friendly band and one of the best
soundmen, actually for me the best bandmember! if u
heard the mix he lays down.just mindblowing!
not to mention how cool he was to set up a space for
me
at a place he knew i would get the best result as
possible.but he was dissapointed that i was the first
one to bring in full rig to their shows, and no one
else had done it before me.

I got a pair of 25 foot cables from www.markertek.com for $25.95 apiece that
have worked fine. Go there and put in:
"SC25XXJ" for the product code. Make sure to get each cable a different
color to help you know which is which when you are setting up.
White you're there an essential purchase is a clamp. Do a search for
"mic-eze m-3" and pick up one or two of the "Microphone Base Sections With
Adjustable Male Threaded Arm". They are only $16.95 apiece and can be used
to hold up a t-bar or a single mic. These should be an essential part of any
tapers bag.

<<Also, I am considering wiring my own mic cables with bulk wire and gold
contact Neutrik connectors. The way I see it, my $200 mics won't benefit
noticably from hundred dollar mic cables. My question is this, what is a
good type of bulk wire? I've seen Mogami mentioned a lot, and the Neglex
AWG#22 sells for $0.68/foot. Is this good cable for my needs?>>

Soundforge 5.0 has a plug-in called Noise Reduction 2.0
and a company called DiamondCut has some nice intelligent filters
tuned specifically for vinyl noises.
Diamondcut is renown for restoration of some of the Edison Museum recordings.

I have been using V.2.0 of Steinberg's Clean! and it seems capable of doing
a very good job of removing pops and crackle without killing the high end or
introducing unwanted artifacts. I bought the original release and it was for
shit, but I'm fairly impressed with V.2. You can listen to what it's
removing and adjust so you aren't affecting the program, and there's phase
correction and vari-speed. I think the denoiser is fairly useless tho, as it
still adds a lot of artifacts if it's set high enough to actually do any
thing. I thnk it sells for $100 or less, and there's a version that comes
with a mini phono preamp for a little more.

i'm looking for some help. i usually put start id's on tapes using my m1 or
da20. is there a program for a pc so that i can load the show on the
pc(without resampling or loss) so i can edit and put start id's between
songs. then i would like to dump back to dat. i used to work at a studio and
they used a program for this purpose. i think it was called fast eddie. it
had two fields, on top was the original, and on the bottom was your work
area. at the studio we used it for dumping the stereo mix of a 16 track to
the computer, then cleaned up beginning and end of songs. then put songs in
correct order to put on dat or half inch to send to be mastered. that is the
kind of stuff i need to do, in addition to start id's. any info on what you
use, or if you know what someone else uses let me know. i also need some
input as to what sound card would be best for this type of work.
thanks a lot!
