From: marc pfisterer <eazywind@mindspring.com> Subject: Looking for 2 Dead shows and some advice Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 11:23:17 -0700 Does anybody have the Grateful Dead shows of 7-12-90 and 3-14-90 on CDR that they would like to trade for? Also, I just got Midi-man Audiophile 24/96 hardware and Soundforge XP 4.5 software to do DAT to CDR transfers and have some questions on how to get rid of the pops in-between tracks and some other stuff related to transfers. Other software is CDR-WIN and EAC. If anyone has some experience in this and wouldn't mind chatting over the phone for a few minutes about it, could they please contact me off-list at eazywind@mindspring.com. Bandwidth tax: Will take a couple for the Cracker show on 9/8/01. Takes 2 CDR,s and is a very nice SBD List is at: http://www.pfamily.org/easywind/
From: "Carrington Crawford" <carrington9@hotmail.com> Subject: AD 500 question Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 13:49:09 -0400 hey all. i was hoping to get some people's input on apogee ad 500's. is the original ad 500, not the ad 500e worth buying? it is a true 18 bit a>d, but is that really any better than the 16 bit a>d in my tascam? also, as far as the sound feel/tone that the ad 500 creates...how is it? any info would be much appreciated. thanks, c. From: "Kevin Hatton" <kevin_hatton@hotmail.com> Subject: Questions about power supplies Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 16:55:36 -0400 Hello all, I'm currently running a "complicated battery rig" and I was thinking about building something to simplify the matter. I've currently got 1 12V 17aH battery running my computer and 2x12V batteries (much smaller) running in series to run my beyerdynamic mv-100. I was thinking about using my big monster battery 12V 17aH to run both. I've come across a schematic for stepping up the voltage to 24V from a 12V source and was considering whether I could make a "connecting box" between my battery and the preamp and computer. This connecting box would have a single 12V input and 2 outputs (1 12V and 1 24V). Inside I would have the input split straight to the 12V output and to the 24V step up converter. From there I could just plug both my computer and my preamp directly into the converter and simplify my battery rig. Does this sound possible? I've just about convinced myself to try anyway just to see if it's possible. If you have any ideas, suggestions, criticisms please feel free to use dat-heads or email me privately about this. I would be happy to share my design ideas further. have a nice weekend!! From: JH <kc7fys@pro-ns.net> Subject: Wadena, IA Music Festival (early 70's) ANYBODY heard of this Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 17:53:16 -0600 My father said a funny thing the other day. I mentioned something in passing about Woodstock, and then sort of let him know that somewhere around a half a million people attended it, and he said, "Yeah, uh, it woulda been a little bigger'n that Wadena was." Then I remembered that back in Iowa, there was lore of a festival that occurred within a couple years of Woodstock, and was supposed to be vaguely similar, and of course smaller--and supposedly 'big name' acts made the bill. ANYBODY ever heard of a music festival in Wadena, Iowa? Not that it was recorded, but is there any recorded lore of that show or shows? Jonathan
From: Paul G <TapeJunkie@tapejunkie.com> Subject: Tape Collection for sale Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 18:30:15 -0500 I'm parting ways with my entire Live audio collection. This includes DAT and analog masters. To view the collection that I'm selling, please visit www.tapejunkie.com I'm not going to try and profit from this. I basically want to recoup some of the costs for the money spent on the blank tapes. Everything is numbered and logged into an Excel file so you will not have problems accessing a show. This collection consists of one of the largest Black Crowes collections around. I started collecting them back in early 1990. The same goes for Alice In Chains. Some tapes will be removed. These are tapes that I was told not to trade or list. They are not part of this collection, nor are they listed on my web page. There will be breaks in the tape numbers as a result of this. Shipping is up in the air since I'd have to weigh the entire collection which is comprised of DAT, Analog and CDR. If you live in the Chicago area, you can pick the collection up in person. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this collection. It was a labor of love since 1989. Paul
From: espring@calpoly.edu Subject: FS: DA-20 mkII Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 19:37:31 -0700 Anyone want to buy a Tascam DA-20mkII for $400? Still has a year left on the IDS warrenty and can be transfered. I don't use it all that much and I never really did so it doesn't have a ton of hours on it. If you're thinking to yourself "Hey, maybe I should buy that" then go ahead and email me personally. Erik
From: "George S." <fearless-pigeon@nac.net> Subject: the actual tigers/counting crows 10/19/01...anyone? Date: Sat, 27 Oct 2001 22:50:08 -0400 hi everyone, this is the first time i ever asked for something from the list but the show was just that good that i'd really like to have it. i decided to take a night off from taping and now i wish i didn't! we arrived early not knowing there was an opening band and to my surprise they were outstanding. i enjoyed them so much my buddy and i both bought their cds and as good as it is it doesn't capture the band as good as they are live. they are " the actual tigers" ...very tight, very psychodelic and a must see live. a cross between pink floyd, phish, smashing pumkins, and paul simon! they handled all gengras of their original music perfectly. and as for the counting crows they were at the top of their game and played the best that i have ever seen them playing a number of yet to be released songs as well as some great personal favourites.. i would really like to get a hold of this one if possible. also, i should have the roger waters "tour forest" trees #10 and #11 up shortly. hope someone could help me out on this one. shine on george s.
