I was at the Black Crowes last night, and didn't see a single

Was taping SKB last week when I referred to someone's rig and was corrected
in my pronunciation. So, the question is, who was right?
Neumann (as in microphones).
I pronounce it like the diabolical mailman guy in Seinfeld: "Noo-man"
This dude insists it is properly pronounced "Noy-man", which, to me, sounds
a little like someone trying to be extra-euro at a poetry slam.
So, which is it?
Discuss.

Beachtek make pretty good goods; note however, this unit has no gain (it is
a passive input device; meant to interface microphones to microphone inputs)
for toy and semi-toy camcorders and it has phantom on only one channel.
Awkward for stereo...

By taking the output of an analog device and strapping on say, ten analog
inputs to it, you are going to run into a few possible sources of trouble.
One, if one cable is shorted or intermittent, all outputs are shorted and
possibly noisy. The other situation is that, depending on the output
devices rating, it may really hate trying to drive all those inputs and at
the very least overheat, distort and lack proper frequency response and at
the very worst, you smell smoke. To daisy-chain one digital out to many
digital ins is a real no-no.
The best way to distribute analog and/or digital signals is to buffer each
set of outputs so that the impedance, frequency response and distortion is
kept to a minimum and this way the outputs do not interact with each other.
With analog outs, this can be done as simply as with high-quality
transformers or actively with IC's or op-amps.
Thanks!

Garbage is doing a short 7 date tour in Europe starting this Friday, Nov
2nd, in Norway
Hoping that some of our Euro taping friends will be at the shows getting
good recordings. Interesting (and unfortunate) note about this little tour
is that drummer Butch Vig was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis A, and by
doctors orders will not be playing with the band at these shows. He will be
temporarlily replaced by Matt Chamberlain. Best wishes to Butch for a
speedy recovery...
Anyway these are the dates and locations for the Europe shows. Looking
forward to hearing from anyone who might be taping them. Thanks.
Nov 2nd - Trondheim, Norway
Nov 3rd - Oslo, Norway
Nov 4th - Copenhagen, Denmark
Nov 5th - Hamburg, Germany
Nov 8th - Paris, France
Nov 9th - Brussels, Belgium

So I recently received a severely hacked up version of a Hornsby show that I
attended, and have sought "kinda sorta not really" over the years.
After hearing the show, even in its bastardized form, I must have a copy of
it in it's full glory.
Does anyone have:
Bruce Hornsby - Cleveland Music Hall - 11/20/93
* should be 3 CDs total
* I know a version of this circulates that has the first song incomplete
I would like the full version of the show, with no cut intro, if such an
animal exists.
Being that I am hellishly busy at the moment, I really have no time for other
trades, but if someone can hook me up with this, I will make it worth their
while------depending on what you are into, I am sure I have something I can
offer in trade as compensation for the three disc burn.
Thanks much!

I'm hoping some of you audiophiles can help me out here
I'm looking for a reasonably priced (up to about $250.00 or so) pair of

I want something with clean rich sound without distortion or harshness in the

possible with headphones)
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

CDRWIN (Goldenhawk) can do this: Just select "open new session" when
burning the audio part (first). For some short CDs, I include the

For what its worth in >10yrs of running DAT-heads, Ben
is the only person on DAT-heads to actually rip me off.
I paid him in advance for a cable and never received it,
he never returned emails about it either. When I compared
notes he was quite problematic for several other members
who had to waste a fair amount of energy to get money back
or what they had paid for. For others he came through the
first time. Your mileage may vary.
