Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2001 10:40:30 -0500 Was taping SKB last week when I referred to someone's rig and was corrected in my pronunciation. So, the question is, who was right? Neumann (as in microphones). I pronounce it like the diabolical mailman guy in Seinfeld: "Noo-man" This dude insists it is properly pronounced "Noy-man", which, to me, sounds a little like someone trying to be extra-euro at a poetry slam. Beachtek make pretty good goods; note however, this unit has no gain (it is a passive input device; meant to interface microphones to microphone inputs) for toy and semi-toy camcorders and it has phantom on only one channel. Awkward for stereo... Thanks! -- Regards, Klay Anderson, D.A.,Q.B.E. What are the > limitations? By taking the output of an analog device and strapping on say, ten analog inputs to it, you are going to run into a few possible sources of trouble. One, if one cable is shorted or intermittent, all outputs are shorted and possibly noisy. The other situation is that, depending on the output devices rating, it may really hate trying to drive all those inputs and at the very least overheat, distort and lack proper frequency response and at the very worst, you smell smoke. To daisy-chain one digital out to many digital ins is a real no-no. The best way to distribute analog and/or digital signals is to buffer each set of outputs so that the impedance, frequency response and distortion is kept to a minimum and this way the outputs do not interact with each other. With analog outs, this can be done as simply as with high-quality transformers or actively with IC's or op-amps. Thanks! -- Regards, Klay Anderson, D.A.,Q.B.E. After hearing the show, even in its bastardized form, I must have a copy of it in it's full glory. Does anyone have: Bruce Hornsby - Cleveland Music Hall - 11/20/93 * should be 3 CDs total * I know a version of this circulates that has the first song incomplete I would like the full version of the show, with no cut intro, if such an animal exists. Being that I am hellishly busy at the moment, I really have no time for other trades, but if someone can hook me up with this, I will make it worth their while------depending on what you are into, I am sure I have something I can offer in trade as compensation for the three disc burn.
