I reindstalled Samplitude and it works fine. Paul

Then (and heads-up all) go to www.prosoniq.com and download sonicWORX artist free for just a basic editing program and also sonicWORX studio demo for an absolutely -spectacular- editing / post-processing / analysis package. I've never seen anything like it. It's -very- seldom I plunk $413 on the table for a software package but I swear when you see this you'll start saving your pennies. It's German software and I promise your lower jaw will drop in amazement. Put the ASIO driver in the drivers folder of sinicWORX (or other software) and set the Mac sound manager to built in and you're in business. Jerry

Albertsson" <Hans.Albertsson@Sun.COM> Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 09:41:01 +0100 (MET) Folks, is there any way at all to actually put Audio sampled at 48kHz in PCM format on a CD in such a way that a DVD player will play it? This is to avoid having to resample stuff. Mpeg formats and/or other compressed formats are out; resampling is also out; I want to be able to store 48 kHz sampled PCM audio on a CD using standard CD burners w/o having to process the audio at all, and in such a way that some standard, everyday consumer device can correctly play the audio thru SPDI/F to a standard D/A device w/o involving a computer. I noticed this while working on a linux mixer/control panel applet for the Zoltrix/CMI. I was feeding an M1 from the digital out and playing around with some of the card's settings. Several times I noticed the "OVER" indicator come on, but didn't really think much of it (I was just playing around and not making a serious recording). After reading this thread, I wonder how, if the digital source is feeding 16 bit S/PDIF, the levels can go over 16 bits? -- Wayne D. From: "Mike Hooker" <mhooker@optonline.net> Subject: off topic sound card help needed Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 10:18:00 -0500 hi, sorry for the last few messed up posts. it seems my outlook was sending my mail in html format, i have no idea why. anyway, i'm trying to set up a soundcard with windows XP. i have a turtle beach montego II plus, and a zoltrix nightingale( not pro). turtle beach says they are not supporting the card for XP, that you should by a new card ( surprise !). i read on a newsgroup you can use the NT drivers for it, only losing the 3D capability, which i dont care about. i've had no luck getting it to work and havent even tried the zoltrix yet. i'd like to get the montego going, as the zoltrix is slated for a different machine, but if it has to be zoltrix and XP, thats ok. i can give more details if needed. if anyone can help, let me know offline, as it's off topic. thanks much, take at look at my music trading list http://pages.zdnet.com/mikehooker/hookstradingpage have fun, Mike Hooker

I sent some cds/dats to him on October 16th and have not heard back from him since. I know people run into trouble sometimes, so I'm hoping everything is alright with him. Thanks - Joe
From: Jeff Sanford <jeffreysanford@altavista.com> Subject: ISO Black Crowes 10/31/01 Date: 8 Nov 2001 10:53:35 -0800 Sorry for the cross post, but I am looking to track down a copy of the Black Crowes 10/31/01 show in Boston. I'll take a DAT/CD/SHN copy of the show. If it's a DAT, I'll be more than happy to convert it and offer back to the masses. Below is a link to my list if you can help and are interested in trading for it (will also send B&P if that's what you prefer). Thanks! From: Delano <eagle-winged-palace@home.com> Subject: Hart 11/6/01 - SoundForge 4.5 question Date: Thu, 08 Nov 2001 14:34:02 -0500 During the Mickey Hart show on 11/6/01, I had a 1 second overload at the start due to the extreme dynamics of the performance. Looking at the visual display in SF 4.5, I see the normal up and down, then suddenly a square (levels are almost maxed out). I was able to highlight that segment, then normalize to a consistent volume with the surrounding music. I was wondering if it were possible to 'uncompress' the block of sound that was overloaded, or in other words, stretch out the highs and lows to make the dynamics of this brief section resemble those of the recorded music both before and after the brief overload. Any help appreciated. Other than that spot, my recording from the 3rd row (fob, dfc, MtG 2000/m210-> SX-M2-> SBM1-> D8) came out surprisingly well.
