How are we doing with U2 Elevation shows on this 3rd leg ? I'm not hearing
to much out there. I have 11/28 St Louis covered, as long as security is
not bad at the Savvis Center. Can anyone spread any light on the security
there ?

Hi Jim (and All),
You will need to set the AD2K+ on +14dbu in order to achieve full scale zero
from the Sonosax.
The SX-M2 maximum output before clipping is +15dbu. The "near clipping"
indicator illuminates at +9dbu (6 db before clipping). Consequently, when
you see the + 9db light come on, you will get a -5dbu reading on the 2K+
(and your DAT machine if the levels are that accurate). 14dbu-9dbu=-dbfs
when calibrated as identified above.
While this can generate a touch of concern, or at least the feeling of
running the pre-amp too hot, you will not be clipping the pre-amp because
you can achieve 0dbfs at +14dbu (one db below the clipping point of the
2K+).
Also remember, when using a 24-bit converter that applies word length
reduction, you are still getting 16 bit resolution down to about as low
as -42dbfs. Obviously, the benefits of hotter levels are less gain
necessary when playing back, but you don't need to feel obligated to hover
around 0 dbfs as you would with a 16-bit converter.
More details about this and a number of other issues regarding the AD2K+
will be on our website by next week.
Happy Recording,
Marc

Includes both input and output box, power supplies and
a 4' length of fiber cable w/ ST (straight
through)connections.
Still havn't had any luck selling this, just taking up
space in my closet. Thought I'd try again here and on
ebay. Kills me, the starting bid is less than 1/4th of
the list...

Comes with wall warts, and building battery packs for
this would be super easy (12v/500mA) if you wanted to
really get remote. Would be ideal for someone who does
a lot of onstage/ matrix recordings.
Feel free to ask if you've got any questions.
Peace
E

Does anybody know what the taping policy is for Lucinda Williams? I have
asked a number of people and consulted several sources (even e-mailing the
president of her fan club) and I have not received any definitive answer.
Any assistance is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys, I was looking for some recommendations on a cheap DAT component (as opposed to walkman-sized) merely for use to dub DAT>CD-R with. Recording functionality would be nice but not necessary, and both optical and coax outputs are needed, SCMS-free. I'm really just looking for model number recommendations so I can search ebay, but if you have something under $500 that you'd like to sell me, I'll take offers :) Even if it's broken, if you just don't want to pay for the repairs (if you know what specifically needs to be done and the estimated price), I'd be interested. This deck is going to be used VERY occassionally.
Thanks for any info provided.
