We have some winners! I will be sending out my list to them tonight. Sorry about all of you who were too late in responding. I am in hopes that this subject is is over and done with . Bottom line here is that the good gent paid his hard earned cash for these and if they are High Quality then it's your choice to spend your money as you see fit. So if there is a person who can afford to buy these offered tapes and wants them, by all means have at it! Some of us are just spoiled and late-comers to the DAT world. I started with HP no logo as they are what I could afford and I still find them quite a good tape. But I still keep Maxell, Sony and KAO on hand for mastering and trading with those who only will accept one kind of tape. So lets move on and talk about things a little more important. As I said before I have gotten a lot of help from many folks on this list not to mention some great music. Onward thru the Fog! Peace and Safe Holidays to All! Michael __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! The TCD-D8 is a three-generation old recorder. If you want to buy a small DAT recorder, consider a TCD-D100 (or the SCMS-free pro version PCM-M1) over the -D8. It has a much better sounding mic pre-amp and A-to-D converter and a more reliable transport. I can't think of anything the DA-P1 offers the stealth concert taper over the Sony. Balanced mic inputs are not terribly important for short cable runs. Phantom power isn't required with many small mic sets. The DA-P1 is rather large compared to the Sony and is a battery hog. Its digital coax I/O is more convenient than the Sony's 7-pin interface, but that's not enough (in my opinion) to drive the purchase. I hope that this helped! Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2001 06:55:54 -0800 (PST) I am interested in some feedback from anyone who has had their SBM modified, or purchased a modified SBM from the Oade brothers. What is the difference in the overall sound character of the recordings it is making? I've been using the SBM for about 5 years and have been happy with it, but if it could be better I'd like to know. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! SO, if you've got an eclectic collection and a broadband pipeline that's not getting enough activity, drop me a line! I should note that it's not required for you to have an FTP server set up -- my trusty linux box can handle both sending and receiving; all you need is a freely available FTP client. happy thanksgiving to all! peter not-so-stealthy b&p offer, drop me a line if you need it: Oysterhead 10/30/01 Fillmore Aud. I plan to attend several other shows the week I am there, and due to the new security at the airports I would prefer to leave my stand and Schneider disc at home. What are the chances of finding a patch at Old point for Brotherhood of Groove on the 25th, Moore & More on the 27th and George Porter on the 28, and at the Maple Leaf on the 26th for Papa Grows Funk? And possibly Snug Harbor on the 29th for the Pfister Sisters? Would these venues work with my Core Sound HEBs clipped to my cap, basically would there be a decent spot to get out of the major traffic pattern and still have a good sounding position?
