From: Chris Black <chris_melas@excite.com> Subject: Chicago area taper needed... Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2001 21:51:09 -0800 (PST) I'm now situated on the east coast and am in search of a kind soul to tape Blue New World on Wednesday, November 28 at the Elbo Room (2871 North Lincoln Avenue). The band may or may not have their website up by the showdate, but it will be up shortly at: http://www.bluenewworld.com It's a four piece (guitar, violin, bass/gwar, percussion), very eclectic group of wonderfully talented musician. I look forward to getting their sound out there but only wish I could take a more active role. Anyone interested in a Wednesday night of good music, please contact me and I'll make the connection with the band. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!! Reply-To: "Jeff Frank" <jsfrank@mindspring.com> Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 00:03:50 -0600 It depends on what he's using it for. Most people use external pre's and A>D converters. Also, if he will be patching he'll be relegated to the end of the line in most situations. My D8 has been a tank. It's only needed service once in the last 5 1/2 years. One reason is I almost never FF or RW in it. Though etree is mostly jam-bands, it's really taper-friendly bands. Some aren't jam-bands. Oysterhead, your b&p, is often traded there. Anyway, my point is that there's a group that trades taper-UNfriendly bands that split off from etree - TUF. It's a yahoo group and information can be found at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/taper-unfriendly We'd love to have more dat-heads as part of this community. daniel

From: jmk9@duke.edu Subject: re: Zoltrix problem Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 12:33:03 -0500 The problem I am having is outputing digitally from the Zoltrix 6 Pro to my Tascam Da-20. The Tascam has difficulty locking onto the signal sampling rate coming from the sound card. Have you been able to do spdif digital transfers to your dat machine from your zoltrix? I am using teh latest version of the drivers from the chipset manufacturers web page (not zoltrix, though I tried those as well). Do I just have a bad card? Thanks! From: jpopejoy@usermail.com Subject: Turtle Beach Montego II+ w/ XP? Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 17:31:05 GMT Ok- I know that turtle beach is not going to make an 2k/XP driver for the Montego II+. Does anyone on this list use the Montego II+ w/ 2k/XP? I've been told it will only recognize the main card, and not the daughtercard w/ the coax and optical I/O's. This may sound stupid, BUT is there anyway someone could make a driver to make it compatible w/ 2k/XP? Any help would be appreciated, josh
From: sec1968@ezl.com Subject: tape slice Date: Thu, 22 Nov 2001 13:03:53 -0600 Hi all. I did something stupid this morning while rewinding my tapes from a show last night. When taking a tape out of my Sony DTC-75ES, the tape hung on something for a second, and now I have a slice about half-way through the tape. Luckily it's at the very beginning where no music is affected, but would this be stable enough to play so that I can clone it to a good tape? Any suggestions on how to make it stable would be appreciated.
