Hi Steven,
In the past I have used ra2wav to do the trick. Once converted to WAV, =
check the sample rate
and convert it to 44.1kHz if neccesary (using your favourite sound =
editor). Then it should be no
problem to burn them to audio cd.
I have no clue about RealVideo to DVD conversion, but I suppose it should =
be possible...
Here's a link to ra2wav:=20

Take care,

I wanted to tap the collective knowledge of the list and ask the following
questions:
1. Are there any devices for the PC that have been confirmed to provide
bit-for-bit DAT>PC transfers? From what I've read lately I strongly suspect
my Opcode Sonicport USB device doesn't.
2. Does a program exist that can scan the resulting wav file for diginoise?
I am looking into archiving my DATs to DVD-R and may not have the time to
listen to each show all the way through before burning it.

Must Sell, First $650.00 (includes shipping) gets it.
Sony SBM-1's are getting Harder to find these days. I think Sony is dis-continueing them.
Mine was upgraded in Sept 2001 and Used Only 2 Times Since. Need to sell to Pay for X-Mas and Lawyer Fees.
Sony SBM-1 New List = $600.00 + tax and shipping
+ Oade Upgrade Description = The fourth is a complete line stage rebuild which dramatically improves the sense of depth and detail in the SBM-1. We disable the mic preamp for this upgrade and it cost $250.00. We can do this upgrade with the Mic Input upgrade or either of the first two. There is no
discount for combining upgrades.

Did anyone tape any of the following Dave Alvin shows:
12/4 Davis Ca at The Palms
12/5 Berkeley CA at Freight & Salvage
12/6 Mill Valley CA at SweetWater
Please get in touch if so - tons of Dave Alvin, Los Lobos and extensive
collection of other artists to trade. For those that don't know, Dave
Alvis is very taper friendly and will gladly give out Sbd patches if you
ask him before the show.

I have a D7 which has been unused for a little while - pulled it out the
other day and fairly consistently get an error code of 01 Transport when
trying to unload the tape. Any advice? Did a search on the archives, was
overwhelmed by the 653 messages (search base = d7 01 error code transport)
and didn't find anything. I'd like to get this working, and would prefer not
to have to send it off to Sony - probably cost more than it's worth to
replace the beast...

I have two DATs I don't need or want that I'd like to give to a good home.
They're 2 x 60m Sonys, String Cheese Incident 11/8/01 Shoeps OTS. Nice
recording, tapes run maybe three times. Who wants 'em? I'll trade for
something interesting should you want to make me an offer, but CDR only.
Let's face it. I don't have a DAT machine!

Angeles, this Thursday night, Dec 13th.
Bands performing are Better then Ezra, Nelly Furtado, Garbage, and Alanis.

IN my late night writings for selling my gear, I wrote that I'm selling a
Tascam DA-20mkII..This should read..DA-30mkII...there a big difference
there...er sorry about that. So anyone feel free to make an offer on the DAT.
I still am selling the D-8, the sigma-plus ecocharge, and the Microtech
Geffel sms2000 w/m200 cardiods. I'd like to pair up the D-8 w/ecocharge and
the 2 digi cables. The mics will come with the shock mounts etc. And for the
married lame part...it was just a pun of sorts...I'll never really stop
taping and such..just need a beak for a bit to expand my horizons.
Again..e-mail me an offer...thanks. BTW does anyone know a Mike
Blotner...it's imperative I get in touch with him...he's getting my DAT
collection.
Thanks for many great years...Ryan

No question, Plextor are the best. If you shop carefully you can get any
of their internal models below your price range. The 12X, 16X, and 24X
models (ONLY the retail box versions) all have $30 rebates now through the
end of the year. I just recently picked up a 12X for $70 after rebate
(from Dell) and a 24X for $118 after rebate (from Buy.com). Those
particular deals are no longer available but similar ones can be found.

For Sale as a package only:
Tascam DA-P1
Purchased new from Sonic Sense for $1,325 on 11/3/98
(Has been used mostly as a playback deck for cloning and to master about 30
or so shows. Haven't done much cloning in the last year or so, so the
hours on the heads are pretty low. The deck hasn't gotten much use at all
over the last year.. that's why it's being sold. Has only been serviced
for head cleaning and alignment by Pro-Digital.)
Eco-Charge Beta Battery System
Purchased new from Sonic Sense for $250 on 7/27/98
This is the two battery system with charger. Each battery runs the DA-P1
for around 5 hours.
Portabrace AR-DA-P1
Purchased new from Eco-Charge for $190 in 1998
I have the receipts and manuals for everything except the
Portabrace. Everything is in mint condition and I have never had a problem
with any of this equipment. Looking to get somewhere around $1,400 for the
package, which will include insured UPS ground shipping. All offers will
be considered, but I am not in any rush to get rid of this stuff for less
than it is worth.
I have Jpeg pictures of the package/deck if you would like to see them.
